Where is everyone? I know I'm not the only insomniac; been awake since 3.00 and I'm now bored....

Ariadne Sun 13-May-12 07:12:29

Wondered where you were, Libradi

Oxon steroids are odd things; I can back up what Jesssays, as I had them at the beginning of each chemo session. Used to whirl round like a dervish for three days until the chemo kicked in! Take good care of yourself.

Greatnan Sun 13-May-12 07:34:37

I have to pack and clean the flat (not a big job!) ready for my trip to Manchester tomorrow. I can do it while I listen to Radio 4 - I love it on Sunday mornings.

I hope you are all feeling better soon - my NZ daughter was feeling low yesterday, very unusual for her, but she not only has flu but her temporary crown broke and she had toothache. It is Mother's Day over there, and she got some lovely FB messages from her daughters.

Oxon70 Sun 13-May-12 07:43:03

Jess, glad you are feeling better.
I think I should see if I can speak to the right doctor - the one who pushed to get me the quick appt at the JR - tomorrow. They haven't given me enough pills anyway.
Wish I was whirling - not sleeping, but no energy!

My magnolia bush is flowering beautifully now it's rained, it was trying to for a month............

JessM Sun 13-May-12 07:48:53

Not surprised you have no energy. Your intestines have not been working properly for weeks. Why would you have energy? Nothing to do but give in to it and sit somewhere with the magnolia in view.

Elegran Sun 13-May-12 08:37:20

Oxon Be good to yourself. Hang in there and wait. Time is a great healer.

Do you have Irfanview to view your jpgs on? It opens all kinds of files, not just piccies, and it is a FREE download from Tucows.

Oxon70 Sun 13-May-12 09:11:56

I want some new insides.

I do appreciate the support.

Will investigate the Irfanview, which is something I have heard of before

Maniac Sun 13-May-12 09:42:15

Good morning Oxon.It's a beautiful morning here,birds singing,bees buzzing.Sorry you've been feeling so rough.
Have a lovely lazy day.Not surprised your energy is low.Sometimes this site does make me feel tired hearing of the frantic, energetic activities.
I might just cut the grass in my tiny garden,Then I'm going to have a lazy day
Love flowers

Ariadne Sun 13-May-12 09:45:40

Two viewings this morning, one a second one! Than, a lazy day here too, Maniac!

dorsetpennt Sun 13-May-12 09:51:36

wall to wall blue here and it's warm - a beach walk methinks.

Oxon70 Sun 13-May-12 11:00:03

Send me a beach please too...I'm about as far as I can get from the sea.

maniac thanks for flowers...
Elegran - have got the Irfanview and it works splendidly. I reopened the files I had difficulty with yesterday, and no trouble at all. Haven't yet tried its other features. Thanks!

jeni Sun 13-May-12 11:55:41

Morning all (just) I'm up, dressed first load on line second in washer. Coffee made, just going to read another days files then relax for the rest of the day. Taking it easy before my 4 day week!
Oxon, have you got phlebitis? Might be a VERY good idea to see quack as steroids can also mask other things. flowers

harrigran Sun 13-May-12 12:40:33

Sending best wishes Oxon I was going to mention phlebitis but jeni just got in before me. Be kind to yourself and take it easy flowers

Oxon70 Sun 13-May-12 12:41:44

Thanks jeni.
It's a surface varicose vein but isn't usually painful. Plan to get hold of right quack tomorrow! Meanwhile bandaged, and not hurting.

Oxon70 Sun 13-May-12 12:42:54

...and thanks harrigran - think we crossed here!

Greatnan Sun 13-May-12 14:02:56

Looks hopeful, Ariadne!
Oxon - stop messing about and get well!

I have spent an hour in my local beautiful hospital, with lots of free parking, getting my scalded chest cleaned and dressed. (Not too bad a wait, and I always have a book of sudoku with me.) I have to fly to Manchester tomorrow and I have to have the dressing changed every two days, so I will get my sister to make an appointment with the practice nurse at her doctor's surgery. I am hoping my UK EHIC card will help with the cost.

Ariadne Sun 13-May-12 14:28:55

Greatnan I was going to say that the iPad / pod is really useful for playing scrabble etc in waiting rooms. But DH, who loves Su Doku, has been unable to find a program with the Killer ones on. (The only ones he does) But he has solitaire, and that keeps him happy.

Oxon70 Sun 13-May-12 14:57:18

Gee thanks Greatnan - I'm trying!

Greatnan Sun 13-May-12 15:18:54

I am definitely going to buy something small before my next trip to NZ next Spring but I find it all very confusing. Perhaps prices will have started to drop by then.

nanachrissy Sun 13-May-12 17:06:45

Greatnan enjoy your trip to Manchester, I was born in Levenshulme, and my first (rented) house, when I got married, was in Weaste. It was awful and we didn't stay very long as we got burgled!
Anyway I'll try and keep some decent weather going for you while you're here!
sunshine

Grannylin Sun 13-May-12 17:21:38

Yes please, nanachrissy. I'm in Manchester from Tuesday for a week to visit GS. I haven't seen for him for 3 months and he's changed from a baby to a little boy, can't wait. Also going to see Derren Browne at Salford Quays(Christmas present from DS) and then run the 10k Bupa Run on Sunday(rest of present from DS...what does he think I am????)

nanachrissy Sun 13-May-12 17:26:36

Grannylin he obviously thinks you are Wonderwoman and he's probably right! grin

Greatnan Sun 13-May-12 19:36:26

Weaste was posh when I was a girl - we lived in Salford 5, sandwiched between the gas works and the railway shunting yards!
At least I have discovered that my EHIC card issued from the UK is valid for me to use in England because I am in receipt of a UK state retirement pension so I can get my scalded chest dressed at my sister's local surgery. I didn't fancy sitting in A & E at Hope Hospital for hours.

Greatnan Mon 14-May-12 06:01:56

Just Joan and I up and posting - of course, it is late afternoon for her!
Now, can you all stop posting interesting things until I get back from Manchester, please? I will be going off-line at lunchtime. No slipping in controversial subjects when I am not around to join in. I am leaving you a few jokes to keep you going.
Have a good week everyone - look after your health and don't throw any hot porridge on yourself. (My chest is just itching now, under the hospital-applied dressing).

JessM Mon 14-May-12 06:20:29

Have a great visit and i hope your chest heals soon. But we can't promise not to have any controversial new debates in your absence.

Bags Mon 14-May-12 06:33:38

Morning all. it was a bit grey when I got up half an hour ago but there is sunshine now and scudding clouds.
