Where is everyone? I know I'm not the only insomniac; been awake since 3.00 and I'm now bored....

PRINTMISS Fri 25-May-12 06:52:22

That is sad news specki4eyes, it will affect you all, and I agree with Mamie, however old the grandchildren are, they will be affected.
For me, did far too much in the garden yesterday, and now feel a total wreck. Still lots to do, have friends staying for a few days next weekend, so need to have everything finished my then. On the bright side it is a lovely morning, and we are off to volunteer at Amberley Museum again this afternoon, which means I can't do very much at home, and so will not do too much again (if you understand what I mean).

A difficult time for you, specki - Wishing you all the best .

JessM Fri 25-May-12 06:48:52

Oh specki, that's miserable. Was it out of the blue?

Mamie Fri 25-May-12 06:35:54

Morning specki4eyes. No real advice to offer, but thinking about you in a difficult situation. Only thing I can say is maybe it is worth trying to keep the long-term wellbeing of the grandchildren at the front of your mind, whatever you say to DiL?

specki4eyes Fri 25-May-12 04:26:12

Hi Maniac are you still there? Or anyone else?

I've been awake for an hour trying to put out of my mind that my DIL has served divorce papers on my DS. I've decided to speak to her tonight - and I've been jotting down notes about what to say so that I don't lose it completely. Nightmare time here.

Bet I'm the first this morning! About half an hour ago, DH, in his sleep, began chatting to me as though we were in the middle of a conversation. It began

"Well! That's all right, then!"

Me, suddenly awake "What is?"

"You've got your wallies in."

"WHAT?"

"Zzzzzzzzzz."

"Wallies" = false teeth in Scots, or at least, Glaswegian. I do NOT have false teeth!

Breakfast in the garden, doors & windows wide open, birds singing, sun shining...garden a mess! Trying hard to let it have a year before I start reshaping it! Moved here last July so just keeping grass and weeds under control..but am off to Wisley tomorrow to meet fellow GNer and might be tempted to buy ....
Looking forward to new DGS first visit here this afternoon. Nothing in the diary today as this was his due date!

Very misty here! Wales has disappeared.
Off to work, then a few days off.
Catch up later.[s,mile]

It's lovely here again too, trouble is the further north you go the shorter the night so it's already light up until 10 and the birds are twittering away as dawn appears just after 4 - not complaining, as the winter nights are sooo long grin Off to a birthday lunch today - lobster being prepared by the birthday 'girl's' husband - wow!

nanachrissy Thu 24-May-12 07:39:18

Bit dull here in Cheshire so far, but the air is fresh and my wisteria smells heavenly. Going for cuddles this morning with my gd3 and coffee with my lovely dil smile

Mamie Thu 24-May-12 07:34:40

Oh to be able to swim in the morning - the swimming pools round here are only open at lunchtime in term-time and never before 9.30 at any time.

eGJ Thu 24-May-12 07:31:23

Lovely here too, but those birds have been rather loud for rather too long! Off to swim before the torch cavalcade comes through. smile

Mamie Thu 24-May-12 07:25:35

Lovely sunny morning in Normandy - am off outside to plant beetroot, courgettes, leeks and sprouts....

oxonIt is on Ladder Hill which is the road heading out of Wheatley towards Horspath. It is only small but it is a family business and the staff are very obliging. flowers

(At this time of year it actually closes at 6pm on Thurs and Fri.)

Oxon70 Wed 23-May-12 10:28:32

shysal, where's the Windmill nursery?

Oxon70 Wed 23-May-12 10:26:03

Every time I go away I get logged off!

So hot out there now...I have just been getting out the green shade that I worked out last year to put on the greenhouse - made of that stuff they use in plant centres to shade plants, I was lucky enough to get a big roll at a boot sale several years ago.

I have to weed too, as I need to clear the bed where my runner beans are going so that Dave the gardener can dig me a trench!
Later on, I think.

Annobel Wed 23-May-12 09:36:32

Another glorious morning here. Another day for sitting in the garden with the Kindle! But am getting fed up with looking at the weeds, so will have to stir myself and get going with the hoe. What can I do about these wretched Spanish bluebells that keep colonising my beds without permission? The bulbs are so deep and so prolific that they defeat my feeble efforts.

whenim64 Wed 23-May-12 09:18:26

Glad you're feeling a bit chirpier Oxon. A sunny day and pottering round the garden does wonder for the blues. Have a lovely time with your sister smile

shysal Wed 23-May-12 09:10:15

The Waterperry plants can be rather expensive too oxon, I had a look the other day, but ended up back at my local Windmill nursery in Wheatley. I bought some Pelargoniums as the don't need much water.
I hope your Hospital visits are not too traumatic and that you manage to unwind a bit at Waterperry.

Oxon70 Wed 23-May-12 09:01:23

Yes the cafe does very good Earl Grey tea - the only place I drink it, and haven't been able to replicate it at home!

Will try walking round the gardens...but I must avoid the plants, as I know I will be tempted, and have to cut down this year because of the watering...!

Bags Wed 23-May-12 08:54:59

Have fun, oxon. Waterperry is lovely. Nice cafe too when I was last there aeons ago.
