Where is everyone? I know I'm not the only insomniac; been awake since 3.00 and I'm now bored....

Mamie Mon 14-May-12 06:35:42

A light frost here in Normandy; the spud plants got a bit blackened on top yesterday so hope they will be OK. Lovely, sunny day though.

Ariadne Mon 14-May-12 06:48:52

Good morning! A beautiful, beautiful day here, blackbird singing, blue skies. Lovely.

nanachrissy Mon 14-May-12 07:37:30

Good morning, it is sunny here with dark skies and large puddles! Happy monday!

Butternut Mon 14-May-12 07:38:44

Morning all!

Libradi Mon 14-May-12 07:43:28

Morning, wet and miserable here in Devon, left a bit of washing out last night and it's soaking wet sad
Ariadne hope your viewings went well yesterday? My DS and his wife have found the house that they want, they thought it was being taken off the market as the other couple lost the original house that they wanted but its all on again and they hope to move in the next couple of months.

The scudding clouds have scudded off and the smirr has drifted in. Another creative sewing day today, I think.

jeni Mon 14-May-12 08:30:46

N Somerset wet! Off to work. Have a nice day everybody!

PRINTMISS Mon 14-May-12 08:31:43

Really late up this morning, worked in the garden all day yesterday so perhaps that is why. We have a rather dubious looking sky at the moment, but a fine day promised with rain tomorrow. We still have the chilly wind we had all last year, just hope it blows itself out before the summer is over - not long now to the longest day, I was told on Saturday.

nanaej Mon 14-May-12 08:37:30

Morning! Am not such an early riser as some of you! 7:30 is my 'retirement' get up time! Still sunshine and light fluffy clouds here in Surrey but not holding my breath! Off for a 'cut and colour' today at friend's house. Hairdresser comes to us! He is great and you don't have to look at yourself for ages in a mirror!grin

dorsetpennt Mon 14-May-12 08:38:41

Libradi we in Dorset inherit your Devon weather eventually, nice and sunny at 7.30am but as I sit in my front window at my laptop I can see dark clouds speeding this way.

Gagagran Mon 14-May-12 08:45:27

What is it about 4am? Why do we wake up then? I was wide awake too - unsuccessfully tried to go back to sleep but gave up the struggle at 4.45am then got up to the loo and came on GN but no-one here so browsed the net for a bit. No doubt will need 40 or more winks this afternoon!

How did your second viewing go Ariadne? Fingers crossed for you. We are on count down now to our move - still on schedule for 31st May. Managed to finish clearing out the shed yesterday in the sunshine. I just hope the removal van is big enough for all our clobber!

Gally Mon 14-May-12 08:50:11

I have had my longest sleep yet - went to bed, exhausted, at 9.30 last night as doing a room share with the 2 year old (long story) and woke up at 8 this morning - bliss sunshine

Libradi Mon 14-May-12 09:30:31

Sorry about that dorsetpennt smile I think I can just see a bit of sunshine peeking through so you never know it could change again.

Oh, glad to see that I am not the only insomniac, shall remember and log on in the weary hours of the morning when I am fed up with the radio. LBC 97.3 usually interesting and while concentrating often find I drift off to sleep and wake up couple of hours later to a different Presenter. But if I am bored with the subject I get up and play Scrabble on the Computer. Have you other insomniacs tried this, after a couple of games at 3.am. sometimes the brain gives up and just goes to sleep - first staggering back to bed!!

Ariadne Tue 15-May-12 20:43:48

Yes, Milly I do that, or play Angry Birds, at which another Gransnetters is very good Annobel but I won't mention her name.

jeni Wed 16-May-12 08:06:53

Good morning all! sunshine isn't it a lovely morning? Sun shining, birds singing, a water lily flowering on the pond, a cargo ship wending its weary way down the channel and I off to work! sad

Annobel Wed 16-May-12 08:14:28

Moi? Angry Birds? I wish! 4-year-old grandson was playing it on his dad's tablet at the weekend and I could only marvel at his dexterity. I find that playing it on my phone is just too restrictive. But to buy a tablet just to play Angry Birds might be considered extravagant.

PRINTMISS Wed 16-May-12 08:18:40

What's Angry Birds?

Annobel Wed 16-May-12 08:31:56

It's a computer game, playable only (I think) on touch pads such as smart phones and i-Pads. Best explained by computer savvy 4-year-olds!

shysal Wed 16-May-12 09:00:26

Angry birds is also available for PC. I couldn't get the latest (space) game for my touch pad so got it for my laptop. It can be played with or without a mouse, and it is better with a big screen. I seem to be quite good at it and have to ration my time so as not to complete all the levels too quickly, as I did with all the other games (I was always good at physics). I wish I was as successful in other parts of my life, like remembering names!

Lovely morning here in Fife - sky a clear blue. Oops - spoke too soon...thin clouds moving over! Can anyone tell me how to get Scrabble on the computer, please? smile

gma Wed 16-May-12 09:23:38

Bright sunny morning here in my bit of Norfolk, quite cool but DRY!!!!!!!!
Covered up our potatoes and courgettes in the garden last night as the temp dropped very quickly but everything OK.
Planning on being in the garden today, still lots to do, no need to water though!!!!!!

Oxon70 Wed 16-May-12 09:31:07

A sunny Wednesday!
What is it about 4am? It starts to get light, as far as I'm concerned! Or I think it will. Or it's the full moon which comes in my curtains and I think its the sun....

But at the moment I have some stuff to sleep because the steroids are making me too hyper, and I really needed it! Now caught up a little and feeling more human.

Re computer games, I have withdrawal symptoms am missing the Free Minecraft game that my grandson introduced me to, which has now been withdrawn by the makers very suddenly and rudely without warning - I was having fun on that.
(Without having to fight the monsters, as he does...)
I may have to buy it (not dear) but I am still annoyed with them!

whenim64 Wed 16-May-12 09:38:20

Good morning all - I have had a lovely lie-in today. Usually up between 6 and 7 am and taking the dog for a walk in the lovely spring air, but this morning she's tired and is already asleep again in her basket. Spent the day playing with puppies yesterday and they tired her out! I'm still in my dressing gown, which is unknown for me. I'll have a leisurely breakfast, then we'll get that walk.

I've got snapdragons to plant out this morning and that will fill the spaces in the beds. All my fruit trees are full of tiny apples, pears and plums, so I'm hoping for a good crop this year. The strawberries are going mad and should also be plentiful. Gooseberries, blueberries and blackberries looking good, too. I just wish I knew when my 6 year old hazelnut tree is going to produce something - must ask the horticultural expert on that other thread!

flowerfriend Wed 16-May-12 09:38:20

Its one of those glad to be alive mornings with a clear blue sky and I slept well last night - not something that can be taken for granted.

I should do some more housework today but I shall probably opt for gardening. I have a tiny garden but its more than enough for me workwise. This afternoon I shall go on one of my healthy and gossipy walks with good friend.

Mine is an agreeable life for a widow. Well for anyone really.
