Where is everyone? I know I'm not the only insomniac; been awake since 3.00 and I'm now bored....

Mamie Fri 11-May-12 08:27:18

Well next time we feel like a party on Gransnet, maybe it should be a sleep-over. We could invite all sorts of famous people in their jim-jams.

whenim64 Fri 11-May-12 08:31:22

Oooh I like that idea Mamie. The mind boggles about the sort of pyjama attire we would all show up in! grin

I would like to bring Alan Carr and we'll have matching jim-jams - fleecy, with a built-in bib for all the alcohol we would be likely to spill whilst gigglinggrin

Faye Fri 11-May-12 08:32:00

I bags Colin Firth, he can wear what ever he likes to the sleep over. wink

Gagagran Fri 11-May-12 08:33:02

Can I bring George Clooney please? Not fussed about his pjs - he could wear his ER scrubs. Yum!

Grannylin Fri 11-May-12 08:51:38

I'll bring Inspector Montalbano....I can imagine what Italians weargrin

Ariadne Fri 11-May-12 08:58:34

Good morning Oxon Sounding better? Do hope so!

Oxon70 Fri 11-May-12 09:11:13

Hi Ariadne.
I just had 15 hours freedom from the dire rear...this is good! I wouldnt say it had stopped though, it goes in phases through the day...but most of the time now I haven't got a temperature.

Still quite tired but life is better. (I wrote 'batter' here but I do mean better!)

I hope things keep improving for you Oxon. Sounds like you really are on the mend - slow and steady. smile

Oxon70 Fri 11-May-12 09:35:04

Thanks when. I know I will have to take it easy.
So grateful for the internet! ...........and all the support.

(Do onesies count?)

Greatnan Fri 11-May-12 09:38:52

Glad to hear you have had some relief, Oxon. (Oh, perhaps that is not very appropriate in the circumstances!)

Oxon70 Fri 11-May-12 09:56:34

Lets just say I am relieved....

nanachrissy Fri 11-May-12 10:30:22

Oxon grin keep it up grin

soop Fri 11-May-12 12:33:16

Oxon A little progress with each passing day. That sounds positive. Well done, you. flowers

Greatnan Fri 11-May-12 15:45:40

How about yourself, soop? Are you ready to stride over the Alps with me yet?

soop Fri 11-May-12 16:32:02

Greatnan Wouldn't I love to do so grin I did walk a good way on the flat this morning, with just one crutch. Progress! Discovered that I missed a drop-bot appointment at Southern General last week. New date for that. Still that dastardly problem to address and do something about. It never ends...wink

Oxon70 Sat 12-May-12 16:46:43

I was up, and too tired to do anything but read.
Fell asleep after lunch and woken by my daughter phoning to see how I was...much too much loo time today, I think I got too tired yesterday.
It's up and down.

Ariadne Sun 13-May-12 04:56:21

Morning all! Wide awake now, with a cup of peppermint tea at my side. Really shouldn't have had chips, but it was such a treat. However, now suffering the consequences!

Bags Sun 13-May-12 05:59:02

Oxon70 Sun 13-May-12 06:15:30

Morning, Bags and Ariadne.

I find that taking steroids is no good for sleep! Maybe it's better to plan to snooze after 9am when I have just taken them.........
Sitting at the computer with my R leg up as I have a very sore vein this morning, not sure why, but have a bandage on it and it feels better.
Feeling a little sorry for myself as I thought things were really improving two days ago. End of moan.

Bags Sun 13-May-12 06:24:31

Aw, too bad, oxon! You've had a tough time lately! I do hope things start to improve again very soon. flowers

Libradi Sun 13-May-12 06:27:17

Morning all, just trying to catch up on all the granset news after being without a computer for a few weeks, apart from the occasional loan of my DD's laptop. My dear old PC finally gave up after 7 years and has now been replaced by a nice new one.

Just left DH in bed, he's got to get up shortly to go fishing. It's looking like another nice day here. I'm off shopping for an outfit for my niece's wedding at our local shopping outlet later this morning, can't say I'm keen but only five weeks until the wedding so I need to get a move on.

Oxon hope you feel better later flowers

Oxon70 Sun 13-May-12 06:31:59

Thanks folks. Love the flowers.

I wish I had a nice new puter...I will have to think about it soon. Got some pictures sent yesterday and had difficulty opening them, it always has difficulties with the .jpg files - or maybe its the wrong program for opening them, but I can't find one that's right!

At least it's sunny here.

JessM Sun 13-May-12 07:06:22

Morning all. Feeling better today and coughing less. Don't know what was amiss yesterday. Feeling a lot more motivated to get stuff done.
Sorry to hear you are still feeling rough oxon - I guess it takes time. There are some steroids that can make you hyper. They are closely related chemically to natural stress hormones.
I remember when my son was on chemo, he came home from 3 days in hospital (it was very heavy duty chemo) and tidied all the kitchen cupboards. But you won't be on that one.
But if they don't agree with you I expect there are a number of different options. Also if you have an unexpected symptom that you haven't had before there is always the possibility that it is a side effect. So worth speaking to the prescriber. Sleep when you can get it sounds like a good plan. More flowers
