Where is everyone? I know I'm not the only insomniac; been awake since 3.00 and I'm now bored....

Faye Fri 13-Jan-12 21:33:24

I am south east baggy in Victoria but recently from South Australia. I move around a bit, soon its back to SA then onto Qld. I have planned to spend birthdays with my three three year old grandchildren who are soon turning four. Which means I have to be in three different states to see them on their special day. The things grandmothers do for their grandchildren. smile

It must be like eating air.

jingl Fri 13-Jan-12 21:36:39

Sometimes I wish I was a stick. sigh

jingl Fri 13-Jan-12 21:37:02

I might go on an egg diet!

jeni Fri 13-Jan-12 21:37:05

Two chicks egg White is better than nothing if egg yolk makes you as il
As it does me! The Americans have something called eggbeaters which looks like and almost tastes as good as real egg, but doesn't contain the yolk. It also has the vitamins and minerals added. Needless to say unobtainable in uk. Why? A lot of people want it.

bagitha Fri 13-Jan-12 21:37:21

Wow, faye, you'll have to "tri-locate" or something! Enjoy the b'days but don't wear yourself out!

jings darling, only teasing about the protein. I know there's a bit more in the white, but I don't only eat eggs for protein. I eat them because they taste nice too and the yolk is full of other goodies. I really am totally unconcerned about the cholesterol.

jingl Fri 13-Jan-12 21:38:17

I think you really are totally bored with jingl. grin

jingl Fri 13-Jan-12 21:39:15

Who is Two chicks jeni?

bagitha Fri 13-Jan-12 21:40:14

I was just wondering, jeni, if you couldn't just get the protein from other foods instead. I understand about the allergy thing.

Body builders eat egg whites apparently.

jeni Fri 13-Jan-12 21:50:59

jing/bag two chicks is a carton of pasteurised egg whites. Makes very good meringue, also I like scrambled egg omelettes etc. I can also use it for doing egg and bread coatings and as a binding agent. Savesl throwing away yolks!

bagitha Sat 14-Jan-12 08:02:11

Been trying to imagine scrambled eggs with no yolks and I can't. I'll have to try and get some of this stuff and experiment with it. It's one of those food challenges like deep fried mars bars. Slightly unbelievable. wink

Ariadne Sat 14-Jan-12 09:20:57

But it really is excellent for meringues, though I haven't been able to find it for quite a while. Where do you get it, jeni?

Elegran Sat 14-Jan-12 11:17:55

Facts on egg whites v yolks -

www.cholesterol-and-health.com/Egg_Yolk.html

Jingly is right about the protein but there is not a lot of difference. On the other hand, the yolks have stacks of vitamins etc. Well, they have to sustain a growing chick until it is ready to hatch and eat for itself. Good nutritional value.

Morning all...

Supernana - all the best for today!

ga - Hope you had a good night's sleep and are coughing less.

Carol Mon 16-Jan-12 07:38:29

Good morning, everyone - had a rude awakening at 6.30 am when my lovely basset hound slurped my face to tell me she fancies a trip round the garden! Thanks for that!

It's going to be a special day today, as I will see every one of my grandchildren. First an hour with my new granddaughters, who are thriving and starting to interact and smile. Then, picking up my grandson from school - a 10 minute exercise, but at least I get to see him as DIL blocks every request for me to spend a weekend afternoon with him at present, so she can ensure he doesn't see his dad. Finally, picking my grandsons up from their childminder, as mum is working late, and I will be able to put them to bed - always a special time.

Must get some cleaning done today - the last week has been spent nipping here and there and I can't say I have done very much housework at all. Oh well, it's not as if it will disppear if I leave it a day or so - it's always there waiting!

JessM Mon 16-Jan-12 07:39:19

Body builders do a lot of stupid things.
Hey - 8 hours sleep. chalk it on the bed post. I was feeling a little grouchy yesterday and thought it was just cos DH was having to work (and of course had not warned me of this fact..) But I must have been tired. Another week...

Butternut Mon 16-Jan-12 07:56:46

Leave the housework Carol and have the most lovely day with ALL your grandchildren. I am so pleased for you. smilex

Libradi Mon 16-Jan-12 08:23:49

Morning all, well I had a good night's sleep, only one trip to the loo, back to bed and off to sleep again until just after 8am. Really good for me, DH has gone off to work and I didn't hear a thing!

Carol enjoy your day with the GC, forget the housework it will still be there tomorrow. Hopefully seeing my baby DGD again later this morning, only saw her on Saturday but lots of family around so today she will just be with DD so I can get all the cuddles for myselfsmile

nanachrissy Mon 16-Jan-12 08:36:19

Mornin' all, another day of bungalowing for me today! Carol enjoy your cuddle time xx. Hope everyone has a good day, and Super(hugs).

Oldgreymare Mon 16-Jan-12 08:37:14

Carol your 'work' for today is all that meeting and fetching, just enjoy it.
Jess I totally agree re bodybuilders, I have a similar attitude to weightlifters, largely because the OG still tries a bit! Lots of huffing and puffing noises from his bedroom!!!!! (and its defo the weight lifting..... before a naughty Granny suggeste otherwise!)

Oldgreymare Mon 16-Jan-12 08:38:06

Correction: suggests!

JessM Mon 16-Jan-12 08:39:44

So pleased for you Carol x

Gally Mon 16-Jan-12 09:17:22

2 x hospital appointments today. Both at the same time at the same hospital which is amazing - how often does that happen? 1 for Mr. G and 1 for me. His is with the Cardiac consultant so am a bit worried about his progress or lack of and mine is for my tinnitus which is becoming worse; getting older is a pain isn't it sad
Carol have a wonderful day with your babies - just concentrate on them and the housework can go to pot!

JessM Mon 16-Jan-12 09:24:50

Hope cardiologist has some useful ideas Gally. Did mr g have an MI?
