Ingredients

200g (8oz) self-raising flour
Pinch of salt
2 tsp ground ginger
50g (2oz) margarine
50g (2oz) sugar
2 tbsp treacle
2 eggs

Handy Hint

To give more flavour, add 25g (1oz) stem ginger roughly chopped to the mixture before steaming.

Method

1. Mix together flour, salt and ginger.
2. Rub in margarine and mix in the other ingredients.
3. Place mixture in a greased 750ml pudding basin.
4. Cover with greaseproof paper or foil and steam for 2 hours.

Simple but yummy. Serve with custard for a real warming dessert.
