Good morning from Bristol. Dark, but haven’t looked out yet.
It absolutely bucketed yesterday, about 30 minutes before I needed to walk to my Spanish class. I really didn’t want to get soaked and was debating how to get there. Blow me, if “the switch” turned off and I went in bright sunshine, albeit with strong wind!
In the afternoon, my neighbour and I waited for 25 minutes for th3 podiatrist to turn up, we gave up and he went home (next door upstairs). No sooner had I just settled into starting to boil the quince stuff, than she turned up! Called the neighbour and we proceeded as normal. She hadn’t checked her diary and assumed her appointment was 30 later!!!. Many apologies.
I finished the quince jelly later, got the washing in and read.
Today,I’m rather busy as I have morning prayers and FAB cafe in the morning, the library book group in the other village, where I shall also get cash from the building society.
I need to pack my case for tomorrow. DD is taking me away for a couple of days. As our relationship has always been a bit “eggshelly”, I am a teeny bit anxious.
I must wash and label the quince jelly and also need to prepare for a very busy weekend and week again.
Hope you have a good Wednesday. Do a random act of kindness. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from a dark and dry part of La Sarthe. Yesterday was rather humid at times but mostly dry.

I was glad to manage a short walk in the garden. Following my tumble out of bed yesterday morning, I have a huge bruise on my elbow and a very tender place on the side of my head. The bed here is quite low and being asleep, I must have been quite relaxed when I fell. It could have been much worse. Thank you very much for the many kind messages posted yesterday.

A break away from your busy lives will be a real tonic for you and your DD, grandMattie. Safe travels!

Happy hump day, everyone! 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good morning from s somerset, sunny and windy today

It was a wonderful day for drying outside yesterday and my large rotary line was very full, it was all brought in and either put to air or put away. All done for the week now, it was a tiring job

Bread made and a pattern cut out for pyjamas, I need to boost my nightwear for winter and I have ordered bamboo jersey for those

Today, well I don`t know, probably a walk and perhaps a bit of tidying in the garage, best done while the weather is warm

You were very lucky Ashcombe I am glad you are on the mend

Good morning everyone from a still dark Lancashire.

I've had a better night's sleep and my head feels less cottonwoolly so hopefully a better day ahead. The little chap was very sweet and kept wrapping me up in one of his blankets yesterday.

This morning we will go to Toddler Group and then have a quiet afternoon.

That sounds like a very busy day, GrandMattie.
My tactic with my Mum was to have a book or magazine or crossword puzzle to be absorbed in for times when I sensed she was spoiling for an argument. We could be having perfectly lovely day together, but she frequently got the wrong end of the stick or took an innocent comment the wrong way. No matter how I tried to avoid annoying her, I invariably did!
I hope you and you DD have a lovely couple of days away together and it goes smoothly.

Going to try to get a bit more sleep.
Sending get well wishes to all who are feeling under the weather.
Wishing you all the best day possible. 🌻

Good morning from Wiltshire. Second awful night in a row. I’ve been awake since 3:45am.

I asked DH to put up a new curtain pole yesterday to replace one for eyelet curtains. It was one for pinch pleat curtains. I’ve had eyelet curtains in the bedroom for years but hate them as they have to be “arranged”. So he’s taken it down and put it up in his room. Mr Bodgeit put it up in the same place as the previous pole, leaving no room to put a curtain ring before the filials, even though it was clearly shown in the instructions how it should be put up. 🤦‍♀️

Gave the en-suite a very thorough clean yesterday. Had sausages, mash and baked beans for dinner. Not really our usual fare; most meals seem to feature chillies! Tonight’s will rogan gosht, rice and okra.

Thank goodness you weren’t hurt more badly Ash. I hope you are feeling ok now.

I’m so pleased you have found another property Granmaretto. I hope this all goes smoothly for you this time.

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning from Durham. It’s still dark, but forecast to be a cool, windy day.
I’m overjoyed to have my fan oven up and running again - that new electrician is a keeper. Hair cut later and two more appointments squeezed in before ‘27.

Today I’m meeting my poorly friend. I’m looking forward to it, but will return home saddened and frustrated by things. I wish she could take a leaf from Marydoll’s book, but then her GPs have eyes to see how ill she is and down to 6st wringing wet now! I think both she and they have given up.

Best wishes to all. X

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 14-Oct-26 06:26:55

An early good morning everyone from me - I’ve slept well but woken early for some reason today.

A quiet morning is planned as my cousin’s partner has a physiotherapy appointment so coffee and the newspapers/my kindle while we wait her return.

This afternoon is Hexham proper so far we have only skirted it on the way to somewhere else and tonight we are eating out at a curry house, table booked.

Sorry to hear about your fall from bed Ashcombe I can imagine that startled you awake and as you say your injuries could’ve been worse.

Lovely to hear you’re going away tomorrow grandMattie make the most of some R&R and change of routine and scenery.

Marydoll Wed 14-Oct-26 06:54:26

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 10C°.
Yesterday we had a severe hailstorm, which I thought, was going to bring in the conservatory roof.

I spent yesterday in my jammies and had planned to do the same today. No chance!
However, I am up early to do an engage consult for DH; he is covered in an exceedingly itchy rash from head to foot, which he has had it for days, but only told me yesterday. I spent last night taking photos of it, it looks quite angry.
DH is a danger to himself. and indeed a liability!.

I would stay in bed, but I have just scalded my leg, due to a leaky hot water bottle, brought by DH. The bed is soaking wet. 😭
Dollie is unwell in Majorca and DD visited yesterday after a GP appointment for sinusitis. She phoned and got an appointment for within the hour! So different from my surgery.
If I was able, I would run away.😉

Enjoy your trip, GM, that is very kind of your daughter.

Good luck today * Georgesgran*.

I have somehow missed the news about your new house, Grammaretto. I must trawl back and look.

Have a good day folks.

Redcar Wed 14-Oct-26 07:15:00

Good morning everyone from mid Essex, it’s dry and clear so far and getting light. Quite a busy day for me yesterday, an early phone call from the paramedic at the surgery, then a walk. My new printer was delivered and is waiting to be unpacked, one of my sons in law will set it up for me at the weekend, I saw my dementia friend in the afternoon. She was asleep all the time I was there. In the evening I had a delivery of Cook frozen food so the freezer is full again.

Today I’ll go to the coffee morning in the church hall. I’ll use walking sticks rather than the rollator as there are steps up to the hall, not easy with the rollator.

ashcombe I hope you’re feeling better today and the bruises become less painful.

fgt I hope you enjoy exploring Hexham today.

gramdmattie another busy day for you today. Do you know where DD is taking you, or is it a mystery tour?

Thinking of those who are unwell, and hoping that you feel better today.

Have the best day possible everyone.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 14-Oct-26 07:15:48

Good morning from a very sleepy me, I woke at 2am and have been awake ever since. Fortunately I have no plans other than cooking the Christmas chutney which, the ironing can wait!

The teens have cancelled their sleepover here this evening, too much college work which is best done at home.

Marydoll you definitely wed a break 🌺

Redcar Wed 14-Oct-26 07:17:48

Oh dear marydoll, not a good start to your day, things will hopefully improve as the day progresses!

harrigran Wed 14-Oct-26 07:20:47

Good morning from the NE where it is just starting to get light and is 8° and dry with a forecast of 16°.
Yesterday a beautiful bouquet was delivered by Interflora, it was from DD and SIL.
Sister visited in the afternoon and she brought a lovely floral arrangement.
Today would have been our 59th wedding anniversary.
Hairdresser due at 10am.
DS coming at lunchtime and taking me to a dental appointment this afternoon.
Hope you get a diagnosis for your DH's rash Marydoll and you have a better day.

Susan56 Wed 14-Oct-26 07:21:39

Good morning from Shropshire.Dark and looks dry out.

Yesterday was very warm.Like karma all laundry dried in the sun.

Today we have the boiler service first thing then a friend calling round for coffee and to put the world to rights later.

Thinking of our absent friends and all our mountaineers.
Wishing everyone the best day possible 🌻🦩

madeleine45 Wed 14-Oct-26 07:27:31

Good morning Michael and all GN's from a very dark , still North Yorkshire. I have finally made it, am having a rough morning with aches and pains everywhere and a job to move about. Whatever I thought I might plan for today has gone out of the window in favour of "just do whatever I can"as the plan for the day. There is no flipping rime or reason , and I am unfortunately adding painful hands, a neck that feels as though I have slept on it twisted and you get the picture!
Ah well just have to hope that things improve but definitely have to go for any assistance today so painkillers and shower will be the order of the day.

Yesterday was a mixed day but ended mostly with a positive outcome, except that as the day stayed dry and became quite warm, I wished that I had ignored the forecast for rain and stuck some washing in as the wind really blew and anyone who got their washing out , would have got it all dry and smelling beautiful.

I started by ordinary mundane jobs clearing up whilst I spent what seemed forever trying yet again to contact anyone in the hospital about my eye. Having dulcet tones of a recording regretting that the lines were busy and asking me to leave a message or ring later, did not help matters. I would have almost preferred a rough voice saying Hard luck try again!!I actually finally got through to the secretary about 4pm, explaining the situation, asking if I could be treated locally and was ready with pen and notebook to make sure I had got the correct information written down. No, she said she had no information about me from the specialist and that all she could say was that yes I would be able to be seen locally, but that she could do nothing more, until she had spoken to the consultant and found out what was planned for me. So all my getting ready for whatever was to come was wasted, and I came off the phone feeling I had done 5 rounds with Mohamed Ali, as I felt all the tension in my body. Probably the reason I am struggling today.

This was also made worse, as I had planned to ring my brother to wish him Happy Birthday, as didnt think his card would have got there in time. but as I was out last night didnt even do that. I had started the day, tidying up a bit, putting things away and giving the kitchen a cleaning and tidying, whilst making a shopping list and getting my prescription filled out ready to put into the box for repeats at the surgery.

It had rained a bit earlier and felt cold and I had thought that I might go in the car, but the sun came out , and so it was yp, with mac tucked in the bag as a precaution. Arriving at the doctors, someone had put a couple of notice boards close to the box and it would have meant getting off to post my list, and struggling to get back on, but fortunately a lady came in to do the same and I was able to ask her to put mine in too, which she kindly did, so after making yet another effort to get the hospital on the phone I gave up on that front and carried on in shopping mode. The wind was wild by this time, with various debris swirling around and having to watch out for dancing empty dustbins as I went. Regretting that I hadnt got washing in before I left, I did at least do quite well with shopping and ended up in Tesco actually finding a couple of things that I had wanted but had been out of stock for ages, however the pataks lime pickle was nowhere to be seen, so put a star beside it on the list to remind me to look elsewhere. Dont use a lot of it, but it does add something to my curries. Came home and continued sorting things out whilst continuing to try and raise someone at the hospital, which finally about 4,15pm I did at least get the secretary. After that I felt in need of getting out for a little while, rang a friend Janet, but she was already out with her dog at a different field to normal at the other end of town. The wind made it hard to hear her, so I decided that I would still go out for a little, and quite enjoyed being on the yellow peril in the wild wind. Came home, got something to eat and tidied myself up and got ready for the games night. Decided that the car would be safer in the wild wind and got there in good time. Very quiet in the pub and no loud football on, so our group was the largest there and we were able to hear what everyone was saying without shouting.

There were only 6 of us there , quite a poor turn out for our usual gang, so we had to play two 3 people games. In my group we played a game that I have played before , and so I was able to remember some of the rules and it was good to play it as it allowed me to remind myself of the rules and start to see more of the complicated possibilities compared to just being glad to get my go sorted. Nothing exciting but hopefully the next time we play it I will be less of a slowcoach. I was glad to get my brain thinking of something other than the hospital and my eye and what arrangements needed to be made. Just sitting down without something else to get my teeth into doesnt work, so that helped quite a bit. I have decided to sell a couple of things so have an old small dollspram and a biggish dolls house, which in times past I had enjoyed looking at all the very old and interesting furniture and things, but want to pass it on to someone who will do something with it, and get a bit more space. One of the players who is very on the ball with the internet and her phone etc., has kindly said she will come round and take photos etc for me to put it onto her market thing, so that will be very good on two levels. One I will definitely have to tidy up more before she comes and hopefully will get rid of these items, but I also plan to study closely how and what she does so that I learn how to do such things for the future. Well that is the plan anyway! I know that this winter I must pull my socks up and become more efficient at using my phone for more than text and phone calls. But I find it so much easier to use my laptop as I can touch type and not even have to think where my fingers are, whilst using the phone is very frustrating as it constantly freezes as I am too fast, or I get the wrong key as it is so awkward to use, and I have to pay attention to it too. I came home, pleased to have got my brain thinking of something other than the hospital and watched Downton as a wayto kep my mind away from other things and then to bed .

There is a bit more light now, and I can see the tree against the sky, very little wind, no sign of squirrels yet. Just heard a lovely Debussy piece after my beloved J S Bach, so feeling better for that and now is time to creak my way to the kettle and then the shower. It is market day so will go down on the yp for a few veg and bits and pieces, but then I think the best I can hope for is to finally come to the end of the ironing, followed by some paperwork. I picked up some venison from the reduced box so I think I shall also get some casserole made up today. It will be a nice change and suitable for a chilly day with maybe a jacket potato and must get more apples stewed so hopefully will be succesful with the mundane jobs before going tonight to whist, so the day is more or less mapped out, and I will give him time to get up and going before ringing my brother and catching up with news and views from the family their end . Plan to try and get my son and see if we can arrange a possible meet up on saturday. Bit of a short notice but might work. Would love to do a bit of tidying in the garden, but am not stupid enough to attempt it at the moment.

Hope you have a good trip in on the bus and get to see some cycling Michael. Hope all goes well today at the cafe and you get everything done ready for your trip with your Dd GrandMattie. I will get myself going and then come back to read all the posts whilst I have something to eat. Having a change of cereal, as Weetabix seemed to be getting lighter and breaking up easily, and Tesco had quite a good offer on a large box of Shreddies, which I do like, but are usually quite pricy, so that will be a pleasant change. Not quite got to the porridge stage yet, as to me that means I accept it is getting towards winter!

May you all have a good day, with something successful, whether it is getting in touch with some elusive person or getting to the end of a job. Wishing you all a happy day and a chance to be in touch with loved ones wherever they may be.

Morning, dry and 7 in S Hants, some housework yesterday, couple of phone calls and an early evening pub visit.
Caught up with a couple of friends and their news.
Library today, chicken and sweet potato curry tonight.
Glad you’re not suffering too much Ashcombe.

Good morning Mick and everyone from Carlisle where it is a tad chilly and the skies look fairly clear.

Yesterday I did an e consult, the result of which was simply a text message to say the doc had sent a prescription over to the chemist for more antibiotics. I duly went into town to collect them and took the opportunity to get a few items from M&S food hall. Back home to a bit of housework and admin.
Definitely no gardening, the weather, which had been pleasant in the morning, deteriorated into a grey afternoon of wind and frequent, vicious showers.

Today, some vital admin follows and then I may run the vac around and clean the ensuite. The weather forecast is dire, gales are due apparently...just the thought stresses me out.

I think I'll pick out one of Amazon's free potboilers on my Kindle and close the blinds!

Do have a good day everyone if you can.

RosesandLilac Wed 14-Oct-26 07:40:45

Good morning, it’s mainly clear and dry here with a pink tinge to the few small clouds over my hillside in south Glos. I slept very well after my efforts in the garden yesterday- I’ve done two thirds of the borders with mulch. My garden is small but it was hard work heaving the bags (60l) around.
I will finish doing it today and get the back borders done too, I think I have enough to go round.
I spent the afternoon knitting the first sock while watching a house restoration programme on iPlayer, very easy viewing.
So, more in the garden today is the plan.
I hope you have a lovely time away grandMattie, the weather looks good.
Oh Marydoll, it’s one thing after another isn’t it? 🥺 I truly feel your frustration and sadness 🤗
I hope your bruises heal quickly Ashcombe.
Best wishes to you all x

Marydoll Wed 14-Oct-26 07:41:20

After realising DH hadn't changed his email address and dealing with that, Engage isn't working, I am going to have to battle on the phone! 😭

brook2704 Wed 14-Oct-26 07:43:52

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s just getting light, it looks dry at the moment but there’s wind and rain in the forecast
Enjoy the time away with your DD gMattie and hope all goes well, I do understand the eggshell feeling
Marydoll hope you DH’s rash is sorted soon and your day improves too, sorry to hear about Dollie being poorly on holiday
We’ve another busy day ahead with the dgc, they’re not really wanting to go out anywhere so we’ll stay in, play a few games, carry on with the big jigsaw that’s all over the dining table and do a bit of cooking etc. The puppy will have a run around the garden and we’ll take her out for a walk in the woods at the back of the house. At the moment it’s all quiet so I’m enjoying the quietness and TIB before everyone is up and the busyness begins
Harrigran 💐
Hoping everyone has the best day they can, take care all

Good morning everyone from a clear-skied Northampton, just glanced at the forecast and it will be sunny so have just started the washing machine.

Yesterday was glorious, got the towels dry, and really enjoyed my walk. An excellent turn out, and also afterwards we had celebratory cake, as it was our 8th anniversary.

Starting to get a few things together for my holiday, just got my medication sorted, and made a list of things I must not forget, such as passport, chargers etc.

No plans for today apart from another two loads of was and more holiday prep.

Wishing all a pleasant Wednesday.

dragonfly46 Wed 14-Oct-26 07:48:31

Good morning from a brightening Leicestershire.

I too got a full line of washing dry yesterday.
Annoyingly having put out three bags for Air Ambulance they didn’t turn up.

Today the car is going in for service. I will get the bus home.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Liberty Wed 14-Oct-26 07:56:14

A quick good morning from a bright but chilly Suffolk where I’ll be spending the morning on a Teams meeting. I’m ok with this as long as the technology works as I’ve no idea what to do if it doesn’t!

I’m waiting to hear from a friend what time she wants to meet up for a cup of tea this afternoon which will probably also involve a walk as I’ll miss the morning dog one and my keep fit class.

I’ll read your posts now before logging on to the laptop and hope today is a good one for all with pains easing for those suffering and worries too.

ginny Wed 14-Oct-26 07:56:14

Good morning. We shall be travelling home later after brunch in Torquay. We have had a lovely few days and
I am now known as the chicken whisperer.
Our friends have four chickens, two of which they thought should be of an age to lay but haven’t.
I said I’d have a word with them.
Hey presto! , yesterday two eggs duly deposited and hopefully they will carry on.
Wishing all a good day with a smile along the way.

hollysteers Wed 14-Oct-26 07:57:01

Good morning from a brightening northwest coast. I had problems with my iPad at the music club yesterday, the second time it’s happened. Although I had downloaded my accompaniments, for some reason, they wouldn’t play through my Bluetooth. I don’t use a microphone and had already sung two unaccompanied folk songs, but it’s a mystery as I don’t need the unreliable internet at the venue if backings are downloaded. Very frustrating. However, I wasn’t on the desk so that was more relaxing and the donations were generous.

More falling asleep in the chair later on after ironing. It just comes over me, whether I want to or not. In the evening a Pride and Prejudice on YouTube from 1980. I like catching up with these old series I never watched at the time.

There is the usual lunchtime recital today, but I feel weary and my hip bothered me in the night. Opera co. rehearsal with a drive into the city tonight.

Glad no bones broken Ashcombe, have a nice trip Grandmattie, you deserve it, hope your home buying works out well Grammaretto and thoughts to all🌺
