The only Green that I like is being got at by Green Members who want to get rid of her from the PartyđŸ˜€
Polanski has now created a monster.

What do posters think?

MayBee70 Tue 13-Oct-26 15:11:36

I absolutely revere Caroline Lucas. She must be one of the most respected politicians of recent years.

TerriBull Tue 13-Oct-26 15:12:18

I think it's evident to see that the party has long since departed the one Caroline Lucas steered. With Zac Polanski at the helm its been turned into an anti semitic rabble barely disguising the nasty wolf lurking within the sheep's clothing. Good riddance to it, hope it crashes and burns.

Fallingstar Tue 13-Oct-26 15:25:57

Caroline Lucas was the kind of politician Zac Polanski could only hope to be.
He has the audacity to present his own opinions as the political will of the party and its voters. I am a voter who might have voted Green but not now.

spabbygirl Tue 13-Oct-26 15:45:29

Caroline Lucas was just stunning as party leader. Polanski is not & I agree he does see himself as in charge. I'm sticking with Labour.

JenniRen Tue 13-Oct-26 16:01:25

Caroline Lucas was a dedicated leader who knew what the name Green Party represented. I think everyone has a great deal of respect for her.

The Green Party now has lost its way completely; it has become a protest group, not a political party.

From Wikipedia
“After being "utterly inspired" by Jonathon Porritt's book Seeing Green, Lucas joined the Green Party in 1986. She noticed that the Green Party office was in Clapham, where she was living at the time, so thought: "Right! I'm going there now, I'm just going to dedicate the rest of my life to this party".[13] Soon afterwards she became the party's National Press Officer (1987–1989) and Co-Chair (1989–1990).[16]”.
I found Jonathan Porritt inspirational, too. Greenpeace were so ahead of their time

This is the sticker on my kitchen window. The window needs replacing but they no longer sell that sticker and I can’t bear the thought of it not being there sad.

The attacks on Caroline Lucas are dreadful; she was a competent politician whose beliefs I did not share, but to be treated like this by the rabble who have gained command of the Green Party is shocking.

MollyNew Tue 13-Oct-26 17:28:31

The Green Party does seem to have lost its way. At least when Caroline Lucas was in charge we knew what they stood for. Polanski has been a disappointment as a leader.

Sarnia Tue 13-Oct-26 17:46:51

There is a world of difference between Caroline Lucas and Zach Polanski.
I don't know what the Green Party were thinking of to elect him as leader.
He has divided that Party.

Galaxy Tue 13-Oct-26 18:13:59

But what did she think would happen. She has watched the entryists disrupt her party twice now and she ignored it or in some cases sided with them.
Sorry but as you can see my sympathy is limited.

Ilovecheese Tue 13-Oct-26 19:07:11

I havn't seen anything about Green party members wanting to oust Caraline Lucas, but as regards the entryists into the party, she probably just wanted to "be kind".

Casdon Tue 13-Oct-26 19:12:34

It’s not her party, she hasn’t been leader for years, although she was an MP until the last election?

Iam64 Tue 13-Oct-26 19:22:55

I like Caroline Lucas but I feel she hasn’t been strong enough in recognising entryists and the threat they pose. I dislike and distrust Polanski. . I see him as a self promoting charlatan, a snake oil salesman with an absence of genuine compassion or integrity.
The Green Party, imo, has embraced anti semitism, dressed up as support for a free Palestine.
I hope the Greens separate, with environmentalists (left leaning) offering alternatives to voters. The islamists can offer their own alternative and let’s at least be honest about who votes what and why

Ifeel it incumbent to stress I’m in favour of a two state solution, the actions of Hamas Netanyahu and Trump are not in any way assisting any progress to peace

Casdon Tue 13-Oct-26 19:26:03

I jut checked, she hasn’t been leader since 2018, so is it she who is responsible?

Galaxy Tue 13-Oct-26 20:45:20

It didnt happen overnight, the first round of entryists were the trans lobby, I will say small parties are vulnerable to this kind of thing, the lib dems suffered a little bit too, so there is that excuse, but both with the gender nonsense and the antisemitism it didnt hatch fully formed, there was quite a long gestation.

I'd definitely spend some time trying to peel it off to re-use Maybee, if it was mine.

Greenpeace isn't politically affiliated & shouldn't have been affected by the recent upheaval in the Green Party.

Caroline Lucas was excellent, much less polarising than Zac, and surely a broad appeal is important for the Greens?

I completely agree.

I -did like her and admired her.

Iam64 Tue 13-Oct-26 21:01:12

Casdon - I agree about timescales and to an extent responsibility not being solely with CLucas. She’s a key figure still in Green Party politics, she has influence.

I share Galaxy’s analysis of trans and antisemitism in the Green Party. It was clear what was happening. A friend who left Labour, joined the Greens and was thrown out after he wrote a letter of support for Prof Stott.

Rigid adherence to ideology feels and is oppressive. I have another friend who had been a Green councillor, dismissed after being accused of gender critical views. Her crime was to express concern about the decision that boys who identified as girls could share the girl guides dorm. The girls and their parents were not to be informed a boy identifying as female was to share the dorm

Galaxy Tue 13-Oct-26 21:33:51

I think the two type of entryists are linked and the greens fall into the same pattern - a view of people as victims ( so the others must be the oppressors)

Galaxy Tue 13-Oct-26 21:39:37

Oops.
A view of themselves as the saviours, they then become entrenched in this position and find themselves saying men can be pregnant and lets ban all those who attend synagogues ( yes I know too dramatic!). They can't back down even when it becomes ludicrous because you have to adhere to the party line or you get 'punished'.
To be honest I have no idea why they do it because as they are finding out you can never be pure enough for the zealots, eventually you too will be banished.

Grantanow Tue 13-Oct-26 23:40:50

If they ditch Lucas I'm never voting Green again. They should ditch Polanski and root out the anti-Semitic entryists.

Maremia Wed 14-Oct-26 11:20:46

Learning day for me.
In GN terms, who or what is an 'entryist'.
Galaxy had a go at explaining, but said her examples were extreme.
