Today is James Bond day. Although I am not a fan I did like it when I was a little girl. There is currently a lot of speculation about who will replace Daniel Craig. Some of the names in the frame, Callum Turner, Tom Holland, JackLowden,Jack Barton, to name a few are just not doing it for me. Stars of today seem to be very ordinary looking. I liked Sean Connery, Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan who in my opinion who are all devastaingly handsome. What are your thoughts?

I think Daniel Craig has been the best Bond so far, when he was announced as the new bond I was so disappointed, 10 minutes into his first movie I was converted!

I like Jack Lowden in Slow Horses but I dont think he's Bond, Tom Holland possibly but its going to be hard to live up to Daniel Craig or Sean Connery. Never liked Roger Moore or Pierce Brosnan.

Connery and Craig will always be the best Bonds imo.

I cannot think of anyone I believe will do a good job at replacing Craig at the moment. I hope they find the right combination of rugged and suave, as contradictory as that sounds. Bond is a rough guy who also knows how to be refined when the moment calls for it. None of today’s younger actors have that sort of presence.

To me, Sean Connery will always be ‘James Bond’, probably because he was the first, and the one I grew up with.

Ian Fleming, his creator, based his looks on the singer Hoagy Carmichael.

Roger Moore for me and James Norton would make a great bond.

David Oyelowo
Tom Hardy
Rege - Jean Page

I agree SpinDrift with James Norton.

David Gyasi. Played Achilles in Troy so good at all the violence and mayhem, and a gorgeous, super suave Foreign Secretary in ‘The Diplomat” on Netflix.

Sean Connery's first three Bonds are probably the best of the series, and while I quite liked Daniel Craig, he seemed to lack the humour of previous Bonds.
Roger Moore was 007 when I was growing up and I quite liked how he brought a lot of humour to the role, as well as all the gadgets. However, he lacked the edge of Connery's Bond and was too old by his last film.

Bond was not a good fit for Roger Moore, as The Saint he was excellent.

honeyrose Mon 05-Oct-26 21:19:52

How about Aiden Turner? He’s such a looker, has the personality and very masculine.

Calendargirl Tue 06-Oct-26 08:08:35

James Bond needs to be dark haired, lean, chiselled features, handsome but rather a cruel look to him.

(How Ian Fleming pictured him).

Jojo1950 Tue 06-Oct-26 13:54:49

How about this handsome young man?

I also loved Roger Moore in the role- think it was the wry humour he brought. Also think James Norton would. make a great Bond.

I remember watching first Daniel Craig Bond film, just after Christmas that year- and being introduced as the new Bond coming out of the sea in those blue swimming trunks. Memorable and a close second - his blue eyes were mesmerising. A completely different Bond.

Sean Connery was a bit before my time but can see why he is a favourite for many.

Aiden Turner (Poldark) is my suggestion, irish accent, looks good in a suit, about right age,and attracts the ladies.

Esmay Tue 06-Oct-26 14:18:05

Sean Connery was so sexy and masculine .
I found Roger Moore rather like The Saint -though he was amusing .
Daniel Craig was incredible.

I think Theo James from Netflix’s ‘The Gentleman’ is a perfect filt!

Secondwind Tue 06-Oct-26 15:21:03

A perfect ‘filt’?
Why don’t I read things that I post? A perfect FIT!

Interestingly I read that the film makers look for a relatively unknown to play Bond. They think the viewer will believe in him more if they haven't known him in other roles.
Makes sense.

There’ll never be another Sean. He was the original and the best.
The only current actor I can think of is Aidan Turner - he’s got the dark, handsome looks for the part. Whoever cast Daniel Craig must have needed glasses! 🙄 He looks more like a gangster! 🤣

WithNobsOnIt Tue 06-Oct-26 17:03:20

Sean Connery will never be replaced. No one can hold a candle to him.

Roger Moore. Great as the Saint but too soft looking for Bond

Daniel Craig, good actor but comes across as being a bit of a yob.

So where does that leavers us?

Modern times. So maybe a Transgender Bond? Or one created by AI?

Me too.
I crawled out of the cinema utterley stunned by Mr Craig and his sex appeal. Also it was a first class action/spy movie.
James Norton or Jack Lowden are the choices for the new one for me.
Possibly Norton as he looks as if he could be more lethal. Or am I confusing him with his character of Happy Valley's Tommy Lee Royce ?
Probably end up being someone I've never heard of. That's a long list these days.

TerriBull Tue 06-Oct-26 17:15:45

Another James Norton fan here, but he said in one interview he thinks he's now too old. Also Rege Jean Page, smooth, dark and handsome. Where's he gone? seems to have disappeared. Theo James would also fit the bill.

No! to Tom Holland, he was a local boy where I used to live, his father, Dominic Holland, a stand up comic, sometimes in a coffee shop I went to. I also think he, Tom and his wife Zendaya come across as a nice down to earth couple when they're away from the red carpet.Nevertheless, I don't think he's right for James Bond or Callum Turner, or Jack Lowden.

I don't really care that much, personally I always thought Daniel Craig looked really miserable in the role, barely cracked a smile. Personally I quite liked Pierce Brosnan.

|I too think Daniel Craig was the best Bond ever and I think the role died with him when he was killed at the end of "No Time to Die" so there can be no follow ups

I think the best Bond FILMS so far have been the ones starring Daniel Craig. He moved away from the slightly sleazy Bond who only had to look at a girl and she'd melt. He was a more mature version of Bond but not (for me) a heart-throb.
I had to stop typing for a minute to a) question the term heart-throb. Haven't heard it used in ages, and b) to fall about laughing as instead of heart-throb, auto-fill used 'heart burn'. Probably realised I was a woman in my 70s!! grin

I haven't typed the word ' Phwoar!' in a long, long time but it applies to Theo James. If there was a man created for the term eye-candy, he'd be it. He is gorgeous. He would make a great James Bond.

We don't use the term 'having a fit of the vapours' any more either, do we? I think I'm having one just thinking about him. Or it might be heart-burn...
