To inject a bit of humour - who can come up with the daftest 'special' day? Today is Sun Cream Day - not rubbing it in (boom! boom!)to all of you shivering in the remnants of the British Spring.
And, please, don't let this degenerate into a heated discussion about the rights and wrongs of 'special' days, or how bad it is when we don't get remembered on proper ones - just let's search out the weirdest ones each day.

You are asking for the impossible here drama grin as Gnet these days can get heated over anything at all.
suncream day? how about 'cover up wear a hat' day or an 'amnesty on overdue library books' day or 'patronise a pleb' day.
Or ( getting into the spirit of it now) what about 'give a Grandma a cake ' day?

GandTea Fri 27-May-16 19:58:01

It's my un-birthday tomorrow

GandTea Fri 27-May-16 19:58:54

and that means a cake smile

dramatictessa Fri 27-May-16 20:01:20

Ah, I didn't make myself clear (that's nothing new!). The 'special' days have to be real ones, not made up ones i.e. ones someone, somewhere has decreed as worth being named - oh, sod it, let's just make them up!

rosesarered Fri 27-May-16 20:02:49

But, but....... They ARE real days ( aren't they?) grin

dramatictessa Fri 27-May-16 20:03:14

Ooh, cake - now I'm off topic - will I get told off?wink cupcake

rosesarered Fri 27-May-16 20:06:40

??????????? Happy Un Birthday for tomorrow GandTea
And for you, drama here are ???

dramatictessa Fri 27-May-16 20:08:04

Don't unbirthdays mean jam tomorrow and jam yesterday, but never jam today?

rosesarered Fri 27-May-16 20:11:58

Yes, from ' Alice ' but it would be sad for GandTea if that were really the case.
I seem to remember ' World Corset Day' ( or was that a dream?)

GandTea Fri 27-May-16 20:15:32

Yes jam yesterday, jam tomorrow, BUT CAKE TODAY cupcake

GandTea Fri 27-May-16 20:27:36

Today is also "Cellophane Tape Day" so rush out and get yours before it all goes.

Today is Infidelity SPeaKS Awareness Day. Not sure what to say about that -and I cannot work out the weird capitalization of the letters confused. Any ideas? On a lighter note, it's Poppies Blooming All Over The Place day in my garden grin

whitewave Sat 28-May-16 10:21:12

Oh I didn't realise that. Right it's down the pub day. Whose buying the first round?

rosesarered Sat 28-May-16 13:07:28

The OP is! A large g&t for me please, no ice or lemon.?

dramatictessa Sat 28-May-16 14:01:05

No worries, Roses. Mine's a bottle of Prosecco (maybe not a large one - oh go on, then, you twisted my arm!) What does everyone else want? I'm feeling generous.

hildajenniJ Sat 28-May-16 14:14:52

With Wimbledon fast approaching, it's Pimms for me please.
Did you know that it's World Menstrual Hygiene Day today confused. And tomorrow is Oak Apple Day, or Royal Oak Day if you prefer. When my mother was at school, if the whole class stood up at registration and said, "the 29th of May is Royal Oak Day, if you don't give us holiday, we'll all run away", the were allowed a half day holiday and went home at lunchtime. have a look at this grin

trisher Sat 28-May-16 14:44:21

I remember my mum teaching me that rhyme but she never said they got a holiday out of it! (She went to a church school, so maybe they didn't)

dramatictessa Sat 28-May-16 17:16:55

I like the idea of children being able to get an extra half day's holiday - wonder what Nicky Morgan would say - her reply would probably make me have to down my Prosecco in one!
And it's definitely Looking Forward TO Wimbledon Day - can't wait (we need an excited icon)
