Daft 'special' days

To inject a bit of humour - who can come up with the daftest 'special' day? Today is Sun Cream Day - not rubbing it in (boom! boom!)to all of you shivering in the remnants of the British Spring.
And, please, don't let this degenerate into a heated discussion about the rights and wrongs of 'special' days, or how bad it is when we don't get remembered on proper ones - just let's search out the weirdest ones each day.

Where do they return to? Why did they leave in the first place? Why did they go to Capistrano? Where is Capistrano? This needs investigating. Not sure ICBA though, especially as today is Biscuit Day!

GrannyMosh Sun 29-May-16 09:31:22

You are all mad, and I love you xx

grandMattie Sun 29-May-16 09:36:04

They are coming from Capistrano, straight into my garden.
I have just provided a feast for them by planting out some bedding plants in pots and baskets! confused

Indinana Sun 29-May-16 09:58:08

Don't worry grandMattie, they will all end up in my kitchen before long. I came down this morning to slug trails over the tea-towel shock.

Have a listen to this from the late great Tommy Cooper smile

I don't think my slugs ever went to Capistrano in the first place. Why? Are my slugs deprived in some way? Did other slugs take their place? Or are they just home loving slugs who don't want to leave? If it's Biscuit Day I shall have to take part more in order to make up for my slug's lack of participation!

grandMattie Sun 29-May-16 12:38:16

I read somewhere that GCs should be trained to eat slugs and snail... anyone tried?

winifred01 Sun 29-May-16 13:27:07

It is my 80th birthday+1week, so definitely a cake (and champagne) day, are my celebrations never-ending.?

angie95 Sun 29-May-16 14:26:25

Today is pom pom day, to get the look, cover your clothes in double sided sticky tape, and then roll on all the pom poms..and tadar!! Pompom outfit! smile

rosesarered Sun 29-May-16 14:28:11

grandmattie really? DC and DGC?
Slugs and snails and puppy dogs tails...that's what little boys are made of!??

rosesarered Sun 29-May-16 14:29:27

Happy Birthday Winifred ????

rosesarered Sun 29-May-16 14:31:24

Yes, I am covered in pom poms as we speak ( or type) although I did get some strange looks in the garden centre, I don't think everyone knows about it.

Indinana Sun 29-May-16 14:37:25

If I rolled on the floor to get covered in pom poms I would still be down there shock. Think I'll pass on that grin

grandMattie Sun 29-May-16 15:34:29

It was a joke - but, little boys being what they are.
on the other hand, I was outside the other day and DGD2 asked where I was. Granddad replied that I was "eating worms". She believed him too!

grandMattie Sun 29-May-16 15:35:04

If I wear pompoms, do I end-up being "pom diddly om pom"?

Nonnie1 Sun 29-May-16 18:24:27

Sometimes a day starts off normally and ends up being special. I think the unplanned days are sometimes the most wonderful because you had no expectations.

sluttygran Sun 29-May-16 21:11:26

Today was 'have a new pair of rubber gloves day'- which I especially enjoyed, 'cos I'm getting a dishwasher soon, and I shan't need 'em anymore! grin

I'm starting an "Equal Water for All" movement for all those flowers who didn't get watered. We will be demonstrating and presenting a petition to Parliament.
