Just seen in the paper that Susannah Reid (currently on tour with strictly)has announced her separation from her husband. This may explain why GrandmaMinny has been absent from the forum. So sad for all concerned but happens all too often when one spouse's career takes off in a new direction. sad

Yes it is sad but marriages don't end that suddenly and Susannah did rather play the happy families card when she was on Strictly. I hate to say this but I do feel that we were being slightly manipulated at that time sad.

harrigran Sat 01-Mar-14 13:17:26

Sorry to say I feel the same Tegan, not that it was an issue with me because I never watched the programme.

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 01-Mar-14 13:22:08

Yes. We were manipulated at the time of Strictly. Including on this forum. And I got into trouble for objecting! grin

However, I don't think it was Grandma Miney's fault. I think she is a caring mother and grandmother like the rest of us.

I don't give a - whatever - about Susannah Reid though.

I think it's the fact that I was angry with you for saying it that makes me feel even more manipulated jings; can only apologise to you for that sad.

kittylester Sat 01-Mar-14 13:27:12

I agree Tegan. I'm sorry for the children. sad

Been reading about her in newspaper, apparently she is not married to OH and he has been advertising for a new partner. I feel sorry for the children as their mother is now on the Strictly tour.

merlotgran Sat 01-Mar-14 15:50:36

I'm not surprised. She was all over that bloke from Grimsby who, lets face it, had all the sex appeal of a wet haddock. Her OH must have felt manipulated as well.

I feel sorry for her lovely boys though.

kittylester Sat 01-Mar-14 16:50:05

Tegan my reply was to your 13.03 post, not the later one! grin

Tegan Sat 01-Mar-14 17:22:38

I know! It is awful for the children, though; it's all I could think of when my marriage ended because I wanted their childhood to be perfect and I felt it had been ruined. Mind you, they've ended up with a weird sort of extended family that actually works quite well.

rosesarered Sat 01-Mar-14 17:33:52

I really don't think we can [or should] be judgemental about somebody on tv's love life. We know nothing about Susanna Reid and her OH. It may [or may not] be connected to Strictly, but usually there is more to it than that.I didn't feel manipulated by the gran on here, she was just telling us [and no doubt wanted us to vote but why not] about her daughter, we were free to vote for anyone, or not vote at all.

tanith Sat 01-Mar-14 17:37:44

I must be on another planet as its all news to me, who's gran was on here?

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 01-Mar-14 17:42:03

grin Susannah Reid's mum is an infrequent poster named grandma miney.

Ana Sat 01-Mar-14 17:42:59

I didn't feel manipulated by GransmaMiney, but I did think she was only on here touting for votes for her daughter. She certainly disappeared sharpish after the competition was over!

Charleygirl Sat 01-Mar-14 17:52:01

Ana I agree with you 100%. We have not heard or seen of her again and doubt if we ever will.

baubles Sat 01-Mar-14 17:54:38

Well this thread makes me feel very grateful that I'm not and never will be in the public eye.

Maniac Sat 01-Mar-14 18:39:04

I just hope that GrandmaMineyand her grandchildren don't lose contact with each other.

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 01-Mar-14 18:40:33

She chose to put herself there baubles . (Susannah, not GM)

Iam64 Sat 01-Mar-14 18:52:12

I know she did jingle. I'm not expressing a view on Grandma Miley, or Susannah but I'm with baubles, I'm relieved none of my family are in the public eye, as I feel there is often too much glee taken at the downfall of anyone who is.

annodomini Sat 01-Mar-14 19:50:55

rosesarered, you have said exactly what I'd have said. So I won't.

whenim64 Sat 01-Mar-14 19:54:40

I found Grandmaminey to be friendly and polite, and received a couple of lovely pms from her. I'm sure she's there as usual, helping her family and wanting to protect the children from any unwanted intrusion by the media. I don't think she deserves some of the comments on here, which seem to stem from people believing the tittle-tattle that less successful competitors have been spouting.

kittylester Sat 01-Mar-14 20:01:21

I agree with Ana's post! I definitely wasn't manipulated but i felt that gn was being used and feel that happens with some poster! sad

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 01-Mar-14 20:22:40

I too exchanged some very friendly PM' s with grandma miney because I was very worried she might have been hurt and upset. She came across as a friendly person and a loving gran. smile

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 01-Mar-14 20:24:25

No one likes to think of anyone being upset at Christmastime. And I could not have enjoyed my Christmas without knowing all was well.
