I love this programme. It makes me feel reassured that my reactions to some programmes aren't just me. Eg I loved the instinctive revulsion felt by all the households at Daniel O'Donnell's 'sexy' shimmy in Strictly.

They're all so funny, which is highlighted by how unfunny the 'celebrities' are when they do it sometimes.

KatyK Mon 19-Oct-15 10:30:20

I love Gogglebox and agree the celebrity ones are boring.

Grannyknot Mon 19-Oct-15 10:33:21

I love Gogglebox too. Husband used to grumble about me watching it but now he chortles along with me. We have our favourites! wink Tell me yours and I'll tell you mine grin.

I recorded the "Steph and Dom" own chat show the other day and it was awful, they just can't hack it on their own show, nor are they entertaining enough for a whole hour.

Remember the ill fated Nigella Lawson lunchtime show? Interviewing people is one of the most difficult things to do on television; probably because those who can do it make it look so easy. The Siddiquis [sp] are my favourites [I'm sure they live close to me] and I'm growing to love the two friends who live in that trailer albeit thinking, at first how boring they were. And the new'ish couple who live in that gorgeous cottage envy have me in stitches. In fact, I think I love all of them. Am surprised that the gay guys aren't a couple though and one of them is engaged to someone else....I want them to be together sad.

Ana Mon 19-Oct-15 11:07:25

They were together at one time (in the first series they were introduced as 'former partners').

Grannyknot Mon 19-Oct-15 11:50:51

Am I the only one who wants to pop a cushion behind the Welsh man's neck? grin

I like the Siddiquis too, they have such a gentle way with each other. The German dad is very funny. Love the gay couple and the two "Sandys" from Brixton, I was trying to make out the blond one's "statement earrings" and I think they were Ghanain (sp?) (Well she was blond last week!)

Grannyknot Mon 19-Oct-15 11:52:53

I've just realised we're discussing people watching telly, who discuss people that they watch on telly, who at least are on the telly and not watching! ... grin

Nvella Mon 19-Oct-15 11:58:35

I love it too - especially the Siddiquis and the gay couple. Also find it heartening that there are some nice funny normal families out there after all the terrible Benefit Street types of programme

Grannyknot Mon 19-Oct-15 12:04:01

tegan re the gay friends, maybe the one's continuous farting put the other one off having him as a partner! Live farts on telly, who'd have thought.

grannylyn65 Mon 19-Oct-15 13:27:16

I thought the Steph and Dom prog shudderingly awful !! Giles is on the 'Hm not sure' cusp'
Apparently he is an artist! Never seen him move yet. Not that moving is a requisite!!

Ana Mon 19-Oct-15 13:30:33

I think Giles and Mary are very sweet! (Actually, I don't think we've seen Mary move either, have we? grin)

Jane10 Mon 19-Oct-15 13:31:08

Giles isn't exactly the sharpest tool in the (goggle)box!
I like seeing the various pets too. Poor old Ginge replaced by 2 dachshunds. Dave the Rottweiler and Rolf's various tiny dogs and big cats are fun to see.

Tegan Mon 19-Oct-15 13:42:30

Bit concerned about the nippy Chihuahua pup the other night. Bad feeling it's going to be a 'small dog syndrome' sufferer..as are it's owners.

Tegan Mon 19-Oct-15 13:43:53

Mary does move cause she changes her tights on a regular basis [and what tights they are!]. The vicar ladies dog reminds me of a large version of my whippet.

merlotgran Mon 19-Oct-15 14:02:29

Dave the Rottie is a hoot. He has some wonderful expressions. The two gay hairdressers are my favourites as their comments are always spot on.

The Saddiqui sons are very witty and I love their gentle teasing when their Dad makes comments that are behind the times.

I also think the Welsh man is heading for neck problems. grin

Gogglebox is the one programme where I don't mind watching the repeats.

Grannyknot Mon 19-Oct-15 16:33:30

Which couple is Giles and Mary?

Maggiemaybe Mon 19-Oct-15 16:54:40

I like Scarlet best. She just hits the nail on the head sometimes. smile

Tegan Mon 19-Oct-15 16:58:02

Yes; I'm worried about her wanting to leave home. I don't understand why the reviews say that Giles and Mary are boring as I find Giles hilarious [which probably says more about me than him].

Grannyknot Mon 19-Oct-15 17:46:47

Are Giles and Mary the couple in the motorhome thingy? (tries again! see my earlier post). He with the smart hairstyle and she who thought he meant "tall" when he said "long"?

Eloethan Mon 19-Oct-15 17:54:38

I don't watch it on a regular basis but when I do I find it very funny too. I especially like the two black ladies. What made me howl with laughter some time ago was when they were watching reports of the MP who'd e-mailed photos of his penis to a young woman. The expressions on their faces were priceless, and then the large lady said, in disgust

"Doing that - and when there's a war on too!"

Do many families sit and watch TV together these days?

Ana Mon 19-Oct-15 17:58:46

Grannyknot, no Giles and Mary aren't the motorhome friends. They live in a thatched cottage, she wears colourful/hippyish clothes and sits in an armchair and he perches on a seat somewhere near her right shoulder. They are both very well-spoken!

Grannyknot Mon 19-Oct-15 18:25:37

Oh, of course I should have guessed with the names. Her chair upholstery matches the wallpaper, fascinating. And his body language is very interesting (or maybe she has the best seat in the house and he is just leaning over to see the telly!) smile

merlotgran Mon 19-Oct-15 18:26:24

I wasn't sure about Giles and Mary to begin with but they've grown on me. He's such a gentle soul and quietly funny.

Leon and June are the stars of the show for me. My favourite scene is where he's trying to donate money over the phone and they can't get his name right grin

Auntieflo Mon 19-Oct-15 18:46:35

I love Gogglebox, and DH now watches and chuckles along with me. Like others I think the Siddiqui's are great, but can't really decide who are my favourites. Also the two in the mobile home are hilarious. Is it me, or have several of the families got new puppies lately? Just nice to know that we all love people watching.
