Don't fret it has not started yet!!! Saturday BBC4, a Danish/Swedish co production. According to the Radio Times it is going to be a real 'cracker'. A dead body found on a bridge between Denmark and Sweden, and a new female detective. Can't wait.

I was disappointed with the second series of The Killing, but this is good. Real edge of seat stuff.

gracesmum Sat 28-Apr-12 23:19:41

But strange! Need to check out The Guardian blog I think.
Was that a japanese ritual hara- kiri sword ............... ???shock

Jacey Sat 28-Apr-12 23:26:17

yes...all the plots twisted and turned tonight ..with the setting up of the next 'message' too... 7 days seems a long time to wait for the next parts hmm

crimson Sat 28-Apr-12 23:30:30

www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01gxlxj/episodes/guide

You might like to check out this site ...basically the only characters that the BBC credit are ...

Saga (Swedish detective), Martin (Danish police), Charlotte (Danish wife of dead Swedish millionaire), Hans (Saga’s boss), Mette (Martin’s wife), Sebastian ( _who is he???_), August (Martin’s computer geek son), Daniel (Swedish journalist) and Stephan (Swedish social worker)

So I wonder if our murderer is in this list? hmm

greenmossgiel Sun 29-Apr-12 13:38:03

I was getting a bit mixed up last night and so you've helped me to pull it all together, Jacey! Why did the dead millionaire's wife have a wig, though....?confused

Jacey Sun 29-Apr-12 14:12:30

That's something of a burning question on the blog site too greenmossgielhmm

I have to admit that we rarely make it through the two episodes of "The Bridge", so we record both in case we are both dozing at the same time!

Jacey Tue 08-May-12 22:54:36

Was anyone else a bit disappointed with episodes 5 & 6? confused

Did we need the Martin/Charlotte, Saga/August and Saga/ bar pick up? Unless of course if the later is actually the murderer? hmm

crimson Tue 08-May-12 23:10:35

I'm very disappointed in Martin [very funny comments in the Guardian blog about him and Charlotte; Skeltor's sister, or something like that]. She looked better with the wig on. And she must reek of cigarettes....

gracesmum Tue 08-May-12 23:49:11

I wondered if the bar pick up was the murderer too!
Saga is really weird isn't she (gives a whole new twist to Saga holidays thoughgrin) and poor old Martin - couldn't keep it in his trousers could he? Honestly, these Swedes/Danes........ blush it must be something to do on the long winter nights.
However I am beginning to worry about middle DD who will be in Malmo for 3 months as she has a play there in the autumn - Scandinavia seems to be full of psychopaths, makes London look safe by comparison.

whitewave Wed 09-May-12 16:35:25

I wonder if Saga is autisitic because she doesn't seem to be able to conect emotionally does she.

I love all these Scandinavian type of series, but I also adore Inspector Monte --do da (cant spell his name) I love the sun and can almost smell the air such a contrast to the Northern series.

It was ever so slightly odd watching' The Bridge' and knowing that The Wonderful Man was in Denmark. Happily he has now arrived in Norway and as all Scandinavian crime obviously happens only in Denmark and Sweden I think he's pretty safe now. gringrin

HildaW Fri 11-May-12 12:57:23

Whitewave, yes Saga is supposed to be on the Aspergers scale.....evidently because its a joint Swedish/Danish enterprise the two main characters represent how each other view the typical Swedish/Danish persona. Thus Saga is unemotional and highly rational and the male police officer from Denmark is more emotional and free thinking.

crimson Fri 11-May-12 13:27:29

You'd think that Martin would have realised about Saga by now. But, you'd also question why Saga is supposedly so good at her job, given that a lot of police work must entail recognising body language, facial expressions etc. Then again, perhaps body language and facial expressions can also hide things, so someone who is totally clinical in their approach might pick up on things that others don't. I suppose she's loosely based on the Elisabeth Salander character in the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo books.

I'm tearing my hair out. Have got to episode 4 of The Bridge but now iplayer is literally playing up! There is constant buffering every few second so it's impossible to get through an entire episode. I've googled the and it appproblemears I'm not the only one experiencing this.....so frustrating!

crimson Fri 11-May-12 21:15:19

Mine does the stoppy starty thing sometimes; is it because a lot of people are using their broadband at the same time in your area? It makes you want to throw the computer out of the window, doesn't it!

merlotgran Fri 11-May-12 21:27:36

I'm sure you're right, crimson. I'll try staying awake until 2am to see if I can get beyone 'fint tak'. It's so slow I'll be fluent in Danish by the end of the series.

gracesmum Fri 11-May-12 23:04:51

"Fanden" is what you shout at it!

Jacey Sat 12-May-12 12:40:20

Have always wondered about the killer actually being female ...re-watched the opening sequences of Ep.1 ...wavy dark hair that could be long (scarf wrapped around neck), only seen hands with golves, slight figure when seen 'fighting' Martin, someone who will 'do what it takes' to get their wishes!!

So ...I'm thinking "Charlotte"! hmm

Well ...there is that whole wig wearing issue...which she wipped off for a quick encounter with Martin; the whole manipulation of the medical system to get her husband's operation; the eventual paying of the money and not killing Martin ...and yes, she could have an accomplist (or two) ...one of whom, for the final twist, could be August (maybe she's the 'Freida' on his computer??)

What does anyone else think?

crimson Sat 12-May-12 13:14:03

She was on the bridge when the first body was dumped and, being a woman probably couldn't carry a whole dead body so [spoiler alert in case someone hasn't watched it yet] had to cut it into two halves.....

Jacey Sat 12-May-12 13:18:39

Yes Crimson ...but that's what makes me think she's involved with someone else she has manipulated ...she wanted to see the response. (A bit like an arsonist staying to watch the fire?) hmm

crimson Sat 12-May-12 23:35:22

the S.O. thinks the policeman with the long hair is involved [he's been saying that for ages]. And Martins son is going to come a cropper next week, isn't he. I laughed more tonight at the things that Saga said than I usually do watching a comedy. I gave up trying to understand the plot ages ago, but I'm enjoying it, possibly even more than the first 'Killing'.

Jacey Sun 13-May-12 10:25:19

Agree crimson ...Saga was so unintentially funny last night and I actually 'got' some of the asides about the different police forces too.

Such a shame next week is the end.
