Dropping their Ts.

Lately it seems as if just about everybody I hear on TV or radio is dropping Ts - even people who I suspect would not notmally do it.

I swear the producers (or whatever they are) are saying, 'Er, you sound a bit too posh - we can't have that - we need you to drop half your Ts, please.'

Sloppy sloppy language. Ter instead of to annoys me .
I never thought they were encouraged to have sloppy diction.
The ubiquitous glottle stop when using words such as bottle or better, grate a bit, but I think the Beeb uses Scottish newsreaders because they can distinguish words such as ware and where. Witch and which etc.

Me too.

There's a glottal stop/ vocal fry combo which really grinds my gears. That woman on the Kayak ad does it.

TER gets to me less than the current vogue for "SO". What's that about?

There was someone on Breakfast this morning doing it.

Grrrr....

Yes. on Sunday I listened to the president of the NUS who talked endlessly about what was the ma-uh with polly-ics, and polly-ishuns, and how pro-es-would make thin-s be-ah, to the extent that I focused only on her lack of 't', also 'g' and entirely missed the poin- of her argumen-.
