Just when you think he can't stoop any lower, this vile man has posted a video on his Truth Social portraying the Obamas as apes. He should be arrested for racial harassment but of course he'll just laugh it off and get away with it. Disgusting.

Agree to disagree Oreo? Have a pleasant evening 😊

Allira Sat 07-Feb-26 20:11:48

Thank goodness, Oreo, that we are not all the same.

Vive la différence!

'Stirring the pot' ? Maybe calling fellow GNs 'sheeples counts as stirring the pot?

I think it’s fairly obvious who is on shaky moral ground in this debate.

“More like moral high ground is the stance you are taking.”

If condemning racism is claiming the moral high ground then yes, I absolutely do. Don’t you condemn racism?

I find a lot of posters on here, particularly noticeable from those on the political left, to be completely and utterly obsessed with the word racist. Anyone who objects to illegal immigration is obviously racist and it just goes on and on and on.

Esmay Sun 08-Feb-26 07:28:51

I was horrified by his racism .
My Jamaican friend's family live in the US and are avid supporters of Trump .
I must ask her what they thought.

Wyllow3 Sun 08-Feb-26 08:20:49

Racism has always been with us Meandrogrog. It's part of human life and is a necessary term to use when describing events and political stances. But really....

what on earth else do you expect but the frequent use of the word, given that it is not just 'mentioned" in the O/P, but the whole thread is about Racism as a topic

What do you want us to do, talk about the wet weather instead, or pretend we dont notice when people put others down or make assumptions about individuals based on their race and cultural backgrounds?

Oh yes, always😃
I did have a pleasant evening thank you, we cuddled up on the sofa with a glass of wine and watched a really good film on Netflix which I recommend called The Wonder.Set in Ireland in 1880.

That’s what I say too.

Meandrogrog I know exactly what you mean.

Maremia Sun 08-Feb-26 08:32:36

Why do some Posters persist in attempting to deny that racism exists?

Oreo Sun 08-Feb-26 08:34:32

They don’t.

Oreo Sun 08-Feb-26 08:34:59

They just don’t see it everywhere.

Maremia Sun 08-Feb-26 08:37:02

Anyway, Trump became aware of the backlash. Maybe in his demented mind he thought folk would agree with him?
Like the moral coward he is, he had it taken down, and with his usual lack of courage, blamed someone else.

Maremia Sun 08-Feb-26 08:37:24

And people still admire him?

Maremia Sun 08-Feb-26 08:39:59

That would be interesting esmay, to discover what they thought of the post.

Fallingstar Sun 08-Feb-26 08:44:04

I don’t think people see racism everywhere, the fact is this is a thread on racism so it so bound to be discussed, members are hardly likely to come on a thread like this and discuss the price of onions, but if there is a thread on the price of onions you can be sure nobody will be discussing racism.
And am not politically to the left, have voted Tory in my time though not for a very long time. Calling out racism goes right across the board, or should do.
And of course there needs to be a political solution sought to the levels of illegal immigration but if in discussing this racist tropes emerge of course they will be challenged.
Am really not sure why some members are so reluctant to engage in discussions regarding racism and quick to dismiss those taking part.
Am just wondering in what kind of circumstances they feel a discussion on racism is permissible. Certainly their criteria seems rather restrictive.

Smileless2012 Sun 08-Feb-26 08:51:44

It is racist and because it is and Trump knows that it is, it has been taken down and a staff member has been blamed for it being posted in the first place.

Oreo Sun 08-Feb-26 09:02:09

It’s permissible in any circumstances Fallingstar just as threads on the price of onions are always permissible.
I’m never reluctant to engage in any discussion but can see why some people may groan when they see certain threads, that’s their prerogative isn’t it.
Also some prefer to just write a couple of lines and other posters enjoy writing very long discourses on a subject, we all contribute in our own way.
I never expect to be agreed with on any thread as I simply put my own thoughts on any matter and it’s indifferent to me .
I read what others say as a matter of interest.

I have never noticed any racism, in my experience people are treated well by others whatever their ethnicity. I quite simply do not see the racism anywhere that you are quoting.

Fallingstar Sun 08-Feb-26 09:16:49

Meandrogrog, in ordinary everyday life I don’t often see it either, thank goodness. But then I don’t witness knife crime yet I live in London where it is rife, I see it on the news all the time and so know it is happening.
And am sure if I asked some of my Asian and black neighbours I would probably get a very different story about how racism does happen more than I am aware of.
Being unaware of something or seeing no evidence of it in our lives doesn’t mean it isn’t happening.

AGAA4 Sun 08-Feb-26 09:27:59

I just think the whole thing is disgraceful. The president of the US sent out a video mocking those in opposition. It was peevish childishness from a man with so much power.
He is so immature and he has always been racist.

Wyllow3 Sun 08-Feb-26 09:30:27

Meandrogrog I have seen it and heard it. Heard it in front of me. Heavy duty patronising is one example. Subtle exlusding people from groups another.

The full on racism that we are discussing in the O/P is one extreme - much of the time its subtle, carelessly thrown in, almost without thought.

Assumptions about what people will be like or their feelings are without actually engaging with anyone. it's happening all the time.

I have talked to people from different cultural origins who have grown up with it all their life.

...and its often the people who don't think. they are racist, becauase they cant "See" or "Hear" it, that are the hardest to deal with.

Just read this page.

I admit and own some of these memes: it costs little to self examine and think, "oh, so that is racism.
