Just when you think he can't stoop any lower, this vile man has posted a video on his Truth Social portraying the Obamas as apes. He should be arrested for racial harassment but of course he'll just laugh it off and get away with it. Disgusting.

You?

Oreo Sat 07-Feb-26 16:59:47

You?

Oreo Sat 07-Feb-26 17:00:12

We could go on like this for a long time couldn’t we?

Oreo Sat 07-Feb-26 17:01:58

It’s of no account what colour or ethnicity either of us is.

Basgetti Sat 07-Feb-26 17:08:19

Oreo

You?

I replied. Of course it’s if account. I imagine the vast majority of the billions of black and brown people on the planet view Trump’s overt racism - and that it seems he has impunity to express it - as a very serious matter indeed.
I don’t understand how you, as an intelligent person, is failing to see that?
Racial and religious hatred are behind most of the world’s troubles. That such sick views are still being dismissed as trivial by some people is disturbing.
Thankfully, the vast majority, including senior Republicans, are more enlightened and justly outraged by this revolting example of an human being’s latest outrage.

I for one hope that one of the Obamas decides to stand against the monstrosity and sends him packing. Though of course, anything other than a win for him will be “fake”. Moron.

Oreo Sat 07-Feb-26 17:11:47

I just look at things differently perhaps Basgetti I believe that’s still allowed on forums.
And I save outrage for very serious matters.

Luckygirl3 Sat 07-Feb-26 17:11:56

Of course it is racist - but no more than we have come to expect from Trump.

Voice of reason as usual.
With all the terrible things going on in the world some people choose to get outraged about this. ?

It is perfectly possible to be annoyed, disgusted or even outraged about more than one issue at a time.

Of course it is.

I disagree and believe your point of view to be wrong and puzzling. I believe racism is outrageous. It’s a pity that you don’t.

Fallingstar Sat 07-Feb-26 17:24:34

Of course you can look at things differently Oreo, God help us if everyone was the same, but I get the impression that you do like to play the devil’s advocate sometimes.
Which is fine, and adds to a discussion, but there are occasions - and this whole racism debacle is one of them - when the damning evidence of Trump being racist makes playing Devil’s advocate reflect rather badly upon you. Am sure, however, having read your posts, that this doesn’t bother you, so it is what it is.

‘It is perfectly possible to be annoyed, disgusted or even outraged about more than one issue at a time.’

Totally. I think the majority if not all members of GN would like to think they are intelligent enough to do this and probably do this all the time.

Here's some more "context" - Tim Scott, the only black Republican senator in Congress has condemned the racist video, saying "Praying it was fake because it's the most racist thing I've seen out of this White House, the President should remove it".

Trump may not have created the video but he chose to re-post that particular segment, demonstrating his approval of it.

Trump is blaming a White House staffer and claiming he didn’t watch all of the clip. Refusing to apologise, lying as usual about the video being about the ‘rigged 2020 election’.

Basgetti Sat 07-Feb-26 17:32:45

Yes, saw that yesterday, MollyNew/Hallgreenmiss.

Perhaps you’d care to explain to this gentleman why he’s wrong, Oreo?

Kandinsky Sat 07-Feb-26 17:33:05

Calling someone a ‘Moron’ is actually seen as offensive to most people.
So you’ve just lost the moral high ground.

Basgetti Sat 07-Feb-26 17:37:36

I don’t believe I have. I think it’s perfectly valid in his case.

From the Oxford Dictionary:

“a person having low intelligence or an intellectual disability”

Please demonstrate how that does not apply.

You find me calling the man a word you find offensive wrong and without morals but you find posting photographs of the former black president and First Lady depicted as apes acceptable and trivial. Please explain why?

Basgetti Sat 07-Feb-26 17:38:30

I think it’s fairly obvious who is on shaky moral ground in this debate.

Kandinsky Sat 07-Feb-26 17:42:51

Well I very much doubt Obama would call him a moron, he has more class. I doubt he’s even bothered to comment at all.

More like moral high ground is the stance you are taking.

Kandinsky Sat 07-Feb-26 17:44:27

Anyway, I’ve had enough of this already.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

I listened to her testify, Welbec
Quite extraordinary...
(And deeply depressing)

Wyllow3 Sat 07-Feb-26 17:58:56

Ah, the late entry, comments, then the "must have the last word and disappear" approach...

You may get that ‘impression’ Fallingstar but you would be utterly wrong.I don’t have the time or the inclination to play devils advocate on any thread, I simply say what I think on any given subject.
But you’re right that not agreeing with the crowd doesn’t bother me.
