Lilibet Diana Mountbatten- Windsor, born on Friday.
Good choice of names! tcrsmile ?

trisher Sat 12-Jun-21 12:16:02

If the Duchess of Cambridge turns up, people are interested in what she has to say and know that she is more interested in the children and their education then she is in herself.
Really! The daughter of a party goods manufacturer who married well but has no other qualifications, qualities or experiences to recommend her is more interested in children and their education than herself!!! Oh come on surely no one in this age believes such stuff!

maddyone Sat 12-Jun-21 12:16:53

I never told them you’re in fact a Countess maddyone, honestly.

Phew, thank goodness for that Callistemon, I thought my secret was out for a minute or two.

maddyone Sat 12-Jun-21 12:19:46

I’m sure she’s very nice but I wouldn’t cross the road to see her.

Me neither, but then I am a Countess.

My husband used to teach her brother. Just saying grin

I was thinking this morning as I watched the Trooping of the Colour, that we'd lose so much if we didn't have the RF as would H&M.

The made for tv film due to be shown at the end of this year 'Harry and Meghan; Escaping the Palace' for example. Who would be interested if not for our RF.

“ The made for tv film due to be shown at the end of this year 'Harry and Meghan; Escaping the Palace' for example. Who would be interested if not for our RF.”

Does that make sense ? There would not be such a film if there weren’t a royal family?

Anniebach Sat 12-Jun-21 13:22:24

There would no publicly and money for them if they didn’t use the royal family ,

Lucca Sat 12-Jun-21 13:26:17

The post is talking about if there were no royal family…

Namsnanny Sat 12-Jun-21 13:48:55

Does the popularity of the Crown point to the interest in the RF from any age group trisher?
As for 'slebs' taking over the role, what a merrygoround that would turn into. Most of them are here today and gone tomorrow.

Interesting Smileless, so M & H could be seen as parasites to use insect imagery?

Callistemon Sat 12-Jun-21 14:19:20

My husband used to teach her brother. Just saying

Fancy, an Earl teaching common people!

I do think her Dad is a good actor.

Callistemon Sat 12-Jun-21 14:20:03

That is a joke, surely?

maddyone Sat 12-Jun-21 14:24:07

I know Callistemon, just one of the things we gentry have to put up with these days.

eazybee Sat 12-Jun-21 14:27:13

Really! The daughter of a party goods manufacturer , who married well.
Snobbish? Moi?
As far as I am aware she has an A grade in A level maths, among other things, and a degree from St.Andrews University, plus experience in business manufacturing, but that would be Trade, wouldn't it?

Alegrias1 Sat 12-Jun-21 14:46:14

Kate's experience in "business manufacturing" was for mum and dad's party company, and seemed mainly to be in choosing products and creating the catalogue. She set up a child's clothing business which failed, then went to work part time for Jigsaw as an accessories buyer.

Nothing wrong with any of that, but let's not think she's James Dyson.

Callistemon Sat 12-Jun-21 14:46:20

I wonder if she has to use the tradespersons' entrance to her own house?

maddyone could be greeted by the butler at the front door, of course ?

Callistemon Sat 12-Jun-21 14:51:24

How patronising is that.

Yes, really, I would prefer Catherine to visit our local primary school.

But perhaps you'd rather eg Lily Allen visited your local primary school, at least she has real experiences she could share with the children of what not to do.

Ellianne Sat 12-Jun-21 14:54:07

Lily Allen? Expelled from school for taking drugs? She was (maybe no longer) no role model for kids.

Callistemon Sat 12-Jun-21 14:58:20

I should have made it clear I was answering trisher's post of Sat 12-Jun-21 12:16:02

And that qualifies her or indicates she is a specialist and supporter of children's education in some way?

I wondered about the RF and if they were a real subject of interest. They didn't show up in any of the lists of top 20 documentaries for 2020 I found. So they can't be that popular or important.

Abolish the farce that is the monarchy

Back in the 1970s, Queen’s consent was used to arm-twist the government into exempting the Queen from having to reveal the nature and extent of her investments. The convoluted creation of an artificial structure called the Bank Of England Nominees had as its sole raison d’etre a method to keep the truth from the public.

We got a glimpse into the nature of these investments from the emergence in 2017 of the Paradise Papers, which showed that a great deal had been invested in offshore tax havens, including the notorious Cayman Islands. One beneficiary was BrightHouse, a retailer accused of exploiting thousands of poor and vulnerable individuals.

But it is the fear that the Queen might have to reveal the enormous extent of her wealth that really worries the palace. I estimate that the Queen has a private wealth of well in excess of £1bn.

How Queen’s consent raises questions over UK democracy
Read more
The Sovereign Grant Act 2011, which replaced the old civil list, will naturally have required Queen’s consent. It is called marking your own homework. The 2011 Act has immeasurably increased the wealth of the Queen, who for example now gains a windfall of many millions from the use of the seabed for offshore wind, money that before 2011 would have gone in its entirety to the Treasury. The civil list provided her with £7.9m in 2010/11. The Sovereign Grant in 2018/19 gave her £82.8m. She is ripping off the nation.

Anniebach Sat 12-Jun-21 15:23:49

trisher spoken like a true socialist- not. Your post says far more about you than I doubt you realise.

Grany I will ask again , where does Anne and Edward live in
Wales , you said they do.

Casdon Sat 12-Jun-21 15:30:36

The wedding of Harry and Meghan was second in the UK TV viewing figures for 2018. The Queens speech is always in the top 10 for viewing figures for TV for the year. Here is 2020.

If it makes people feel better to pretend that the Royal Family isn’t important to the UK public that’s fine for them, but it’s not true.

Aveline Sat 12-Jun-21 15:31:17

Hear hear Casdon!

Callistemon Sat 12-Jun-21 15:33:39

The Sovereign Grant in 2018/19 gave her £82.8m. She is ripping off the nation.

Ooh yes, she has squirrelled it all away in her little piggy bank and gets the butler to count it every morning .
She has not paid her staff, not paid expenses, not run the Offices of State.

The French Presidency costs more, added to which they pay a salary of around 10 million euros pa to each ex-President.

Please don't mention Ireland, it is in no way comparable.

Your posts always make me laugh, anyway Grany, thank you.

Alegrias1 Sat 12-Jun-21 15:43:33

Could she just spend that on the Charities we keep hearing about, cut out the middle man?

I believe the piggy bank is in the Caribbean somewhere, isn't it?
