Do make that appointment with your GP today - just as you would if it was your DH and not you in this pickle!

So sorry to hear this Mishap. You have been through such a lot in quick succession, it's not surprising your heart is protesting. I hope your GP will be able to put your mind at rest

DH started it after his kidney transplant. Controlled with drugs and warfarin after
His cardiologist was arrogant as well. It must be bred into them, like curly fur on poodles.
E lived for 20+ years after until he developed Ca colon

DH was diagnosed with AF after his stroke. He had been on the beta blocker verapamil for years and now also takes warfarin.

It seems to suit him because he's doing fine.

Mishap, Your last comment reminds me of when DH answers the phone and tells people I'm pottering about in the garden.

I will probably discuss the situation with my GP who is definitely a human being who is able to listen and to take people's concerns into account. The cardiologist is not a listener!

I always find it hard when you get conflicting advice from medics. The first doc I saw on the ward (not sure of her role) said I would have to go on anti-coagulants and would be given a "pill in the pocket" to deal with a recurrence. Consultant shrugged his shoulders and said nothing was needed and would not engage in a conversation, even for the purpose of providing explanation and reassurance. I thought these arrogant consultants had died out, but apparently not! To be fair he was very busy - but he was brusque to the point of rudeness.

I am sure my GP will be able to help and I will try and get a conversation with him.

mishap so sorry to hear about this very scary episode, apart from anything else it must really shake your confidence. You end up questioning everything. I do hope your health soon gets back on track.

That was a terrifying experience for you Mishap but the fact that your scan didn't produce anything sinister is a very positive result and I hope you will be able to put this behind you and concentrate your energies into a slow, but steady recovery from your hip op.

I had a scare in February with a suspected TIA and a 24hr stay in coronary care. I have always had a low BP but it dropped to a dangerously low 40, scared the wits out of DH when he saw my face droop. My heartrate and BP rectified themselves but I won't forget the feeling of being out of control and vulnerable.

Have just read your recent post and if you are not happy with your present cardiologist, ask for a second opinion via your GP explaining your doubts.

mishap, how very worrying for you. This kind of episode happened to a friend immediately following a cataract op, luckily while he was still in the hospital waiting to go home. This was about 6 months ago and he is fine, though still taking warfarin. I am sure you will get over this too, mishap, though you'll have to take your time. Your body has been through a lot, so take good care of yourself ((((hugs))))
