Squashed boobs!

Not sure why you were recommended a front fastening bra, there must be a reason why you were told this.
This company is good for post-surgery bras, not sure if there is a front fastening one, but they are very helpful on the phone.

There are a couple of post surgery ones here. Or would a sleep bra work?

I am expecting open heart surgery Rose, so I suppose that the boobs must be supported so as not to strain the stitches afterwards

Not sure if nicolajane would have anything bigmomma, they do post- mastectomy wear.

I had a heart valve replacement a few years ago, and was advised to wear a bra afterwards, I tried a few after the op, all uncomfotable and I think front fastening would be the worst.
My DD got me a boob tube smaller size than normal, I am a big lady and it was great, it had shoestring straps, cotton and I think came from M&S. It just held everything in place without putting any strain on. Good luck with the op, if it is the same as me and you want to chat about it feel free to PM me.

You can buy soft pull- on bras, a little support but nothing to irritate, perhaps my linked firm does those (I will do it again, it didn't work last time)

They do one called Isra by Anita - front fastening with buttons and looks nice and comfortable. You could just ignore the pockets in it, wouldn't make any difference I would think.

Perhaps the front opening bra is required so that you are not struggling to do it up behind your back. If you are googling try 'front closing bras' as this is what they seem to be called nowadays. Simply Be have a good selection here:

I might try one myself, as with arthritic fingers I am finding it increasingly difficult to do the behind the back hook up.

I have always had to do up the fastening of my bra at the front and twizzle it round to the back before pulling up the straps.

That's the way I've always done it too, shysal - much easier!

Perhaps you have a local specialised bra shop who could measure you and advise what is best?

I have trouble fastening a bra behind my back, so I fasten it and pull it up over my knees and bottom. Easier than manoeuvring it round after fastening it in front. I did try a number of front fastening ones but found them uniformly uncomfortable.

I gave up wearing a bra several months ago and noone noticed. The freedom is wonderful. I used to wear those pull on "genie" bras. They were very comfortable .
