Gift ideas please.

My DGCs loved sit and ride toys at that stage, also play tents and tunnels are fun for peep-o games but adapt as they get older to be all kinds of things!

Duplo do a good farm set which my DGD enjoyed.

Traditional baby walker with bricks that probably most of our own children had at one stage?

glammy I worked for Mothercare/Elc on the toy department a while back and the wooden toys were really good sellers especially the activity cube ELC and the Mothercare version which is a similar activity cube but its on wheels.

glammy I'm in the same boat as I have two grandsons who will celebrate their 1st birthdays in August and October. The elder of the two has a sister of 3 so he has plenty of toys already. I had thought of Duplo as both of my sons enjoyed playing with it when they were tots or perhaps a Brio (or something similar to) wooden train set. I always like to give my nearest and dearest a gift that I have made myself so I will be knitting Aran sweaters for both boys. I will also buy them a book have seen several options but can't decide at the moment.

A Brio train track is a good option. Even when they have one, it can always be added to with points, bridges, extra track... My GSs have loved theirs.

I've just come back from DGD's 1st birthday. The big winners were
1 a wooden simple jigsaw with little nobs
2 a magnetic put together train
3 board books
4 the packinging!

Those wooden jigsaws with big pieces always seem popular - my GDs still occasionally play with the ones they had when they were babies now, and they're six!

I've just given my GD on her first birthday a wooden hammer and pegs set from ELC and she loves it. My son says it's her favourite toy!

Anything they can bash and bang! GS1 got a couple of drum kits at an early age, though I think one of them got put in the loft never to be seen again.

Those musical tables are good - several options available from Argos, Mothercare and ELC. My twin DGSs played with the one we had for years - it was ideal because they could sit either end and each had different buttons and sound-makers to bash at!

I got a wonderfully colourful and indestructible plastic teaset for one of mine. He played with it a lot. I have a vague memory of buying it in Debenhams toy dept.
