Good Bathroom Scales

My scales are past their best and I have been looking too. Argos have quite a choice and Amazon has the ones l like the look of much cheaper.

I have some lovely digital ones with all sorts of programmes programmable (!) none of which I use. (They will work out your BMI for example)
They were about £15 from Lloyds Pharmacy.

Reddevil3 How long have you had them? I have found the digital kitchen ones very unreliable. I just want to know how heavy I am.
I am not worried about my BMI! I know I am just not tall enough for it.

I have had some for a out six years which I bought in Boots and are weight watchers ones - digital and have been reliable - numbers large and clear enough to read without specs. Will do stones, pounds and fractions, the number of pounds and KGS. I find them great and paid using my points so I consider them free.

I have the Weight Watchers ones too, Bez. They're sort of 'silver' in colour? I find them very good, and the battery lasts for ages.

Yes Marelli sound the same - think I am still on the first battery. Being able to change the units is handy - DH had to have his weight in KGs when filling in a form for the hospital here in France and we ha no problem.

Mine are Weight Watchers ones, which I have had for years and have only changed the batteries once. The only disadvantage with them is that you can't cheat. However you change your position or step off and on again, they always register the same weight! I can easily read the display without my reading glasses too.

I like the look of that, shysal; I'm not sure I want to know my BMI.

nellie - I got them about 4 years ago- but still on the same battery and very reliable. I suppose the price may have gone up a bit by now but not megabucks. They have a memory so that more than one person can keep track of their weight at the same time.

We bought some new bathroom scales when both my DH and I decided to do the 5:2 diet and needed more accurate scales than our 30 year old ones.

We bough the Salter MiBody digital scales which, in addition to you weight, works out your BMI and does all sorts of other bits and pieces which seems to be a bit over the top. Big problem is that the display is so dim that it is too difficult to read easily. We changed the battery, thinking that must be the problem - no difference, we complained to Salter and they told us to take it back to the supplier (bought online and they refused to acknowledge our emails so I've given up). Only advantage with these scales is that you can transfer all the measurements via USB to your computer so you can have a graph showing your progress.

My advice would be to look at Amazon and read the reviews there carefully

I've got the digital Weightwatchers ones too. But they lie. I feel sure they must do. Consistently every morning. (I prefered my nice old ordinary ones which weighed 2 lb less if I stood on my left foot, even less when the spring went soggy.)

No doubt a lot of different designs of of bath scales are available in these days and choose one best from these it's a difficult task for every one. Me also want to buy a bath scale and this discussion helps me a lot.

Another vote for the Weight watchers scales. I've had mine about 3 years and have just changed the battery. I use them a lot in the hope that one day they will tell me I am at my target weight.

Oh Nellie I wish I'd known about your kitchen scales! I have a set of brass weights just gathering dust. EXdh returned the scales to me, but with one pan missing and the other bent out of all recognition.

If anyone wants a set of brass weights (imperial) let me know!

I should buy the weightwatchers ones that you all have from Boots. Ours are not old [Salter] but have never been the same since DH weighed our holiday luggage on them.

I suppose the 'downside' of the weightwatchers scales is that they always tell the truth! They don't have a voice that says 'one at a time please!' do they?

Would you believe I use the scales my father bought and he died I in 1962!!
I've bought several of my own in that time that have died but these still seem to be fairly accurate - built to last!

Do they weigh in scruples?

A digital scale is best than a mechanical because you can easily get accurate measurement for all you small measurements that you need. And these scales are also available in £30 on amazon and ebay. You surely get a good one in this price range there.
