Good morning from a dry Bristol.
I’ve been awake for hours having been awakened by the oddest dream. I was a prisoner (why? Of whom?) and I was sent to some cathedral, with two other prisoners, to find the two lost “half weeks”!
Yesterday was quiet, except for an hour at the church coffee and chat. As usual, I was with the very boring people - I suppose someone has to be nice to them.
Just the church service today - no vicar, which should be interesting. This will be the pattern for the next 6 months or more.
Have a blessed Sunday ✝️🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from a dark, dry corner of La Sarthe where we saw a fair bit of sunshine yesterday with pretty cloud formations.

Our bird feeder has been well patronised and the extreme summer temperatures doesn’t appear to have diminished the regulars. One day recently we saw a woodpecker feeding on the ground beneath the feeder. Luckily, Perry seems more interested in the local rodents plus the odd gecko, sadly.

A blessed Sunday to you all.

Good morning Michael and all GN's from a dark and chilly morning in North Yorkshire. I never managed to get back yesterday so will catch up with all the posts later. I was so mad that the wretched thing disappeared yet again and I couldnt get it back. Especially as for once I was saying that I was feeling a bit better and trying to be more positive!

So fingers crossed that it doesnt do the same again today. I had looked up the various goings on in the area and planned to go to a coffee morning in a local village run by and for Marie Cure. Then I needed to just get bread milk and the Yorkshire Post and go down to Thirsk to do a few bits, including getting fuel for the car, for which I had a voucher for up to £8 off from shopping in Tesco to the sum of £60.

I was wearing a typical autumn days outfit. Thin T shirt and trousers, but with a cashmere jumper on top, my sunglasses on as it was quite bright and my raincoat just in case sat in the car! So a lively drive up little winding roads, with lots of sheep about and trees just starting to turn colour.

The village hall looked very nice with tables set out and a tombola and of course the WI type stall with lovely looking cakes and home made jams etc etc. A good choice of cakes for the coffee too and I really enjoyed my good fresh coffee and a slice of victoria sponge, which by its freshness I would say had been baked that morning. I went across to buy some tickets from the tombola and to my surprise I actually won a bottle of wine and some chocolates. As I do not usually win on such things that was very good, and then I left there and went to Thirsk, got various jobs done and fuel done, cringe cringe at the price, and then my back was really bad so I took my Yorkshire post and went for a coffee in Cafe Nero, which was surprisingly quiet, but think everyone was out enjoying the sunshine. So I was able to get a comfortable seat and enjoyed both the paper and the coffee before setting off home.

It had been a pleasant day and in less pain , which makes such a difference. So I did then empty the car and put things away and made a meal and went to bed a little early. Ah well that didnt work out too well as I had a job getting off to sleep and then woke about 3.30am and couldnt get back to sleep so here I am, somewhat chilly in my dressing gown , but the plan for today is to stay at home, get the ironing done and the kitchen sorted out a bit whilst listening to Desert Island Discs and Private Passions. Sounds very mundane, but that will suit me for today as tomorrow I need to get in touch with the hospital and start making arrangements for appointments etc. Need to make sure I have done enough ironing so that I have a choice of things to wear this week. Looks as though it is going to be that mix of warm in the middle of the day but chilly mornings and evenings.Need to chcek out torches so that I have one in the car and another in my shopping bag etc and get ready for darker nights.

Fingers crossed that this doesnt disappear into the ether and I am going to get some breakfast and have my shower and then come back to read of the news and views from everyone later. Hope your day starts well whatever your plans and that you will have a peaceful sunday wherever you are

Good morning from a still dark NE, it must be cool because the heating has been on all night.
I have been awake since 4am with stomach pains, going to be a long day.
DS and GD did not visit yesterday, GD was ill when she returned from school on Friday and went straight to bed and remained there all day yesterday.
I had prepared all the food in advance so I was left with food which will have to be binned.
DS was out filming the aurora, just from his garden, but he does live out in the country. He posted photographs.
Another quiet day for me.
Have a good day.

Good morning from Sheffield
What a shame Harrigran. I hope your gd is feeling better.

Hubby has a few jobs he wants to do before his op on Wednesday. Such as digging a hole in the garden to expose the water pipe to the toilet outside for the builder. Building an ikea shoe cupboard for the same. I’m sure I can find him a couple more jobs.

We will go and see sister in law. She is starting radiotherapy next week, so want to give a bit of support.
I had my flu jab yesterday. I was queuing 50 yards into the car park! I need to pick a better appointment slot next year. I had a very disturbed night. I had a sore throat and felt very feverish but have woken up ok this morning. My arm’s not sore at all
Take care everyone flowers

RosesandLilac Sun 11-Oct-26 06:38:48

Good morning, chilly and dry here on the hillside in south Glos, I have tossed and turned all night so feeling a tad weary this morning.
I planted my wallflowers yesterday, it was very pleasant out in the sunshine, before spending a lovely couple of hours painting with my friend. So relaxing and enjoyable.
The washing dried nicely on the line and all put away.
My craft room is now 90% tidied, I emptied the cupboard and sorted my stash of threads, fabric etc. obviously now I won’t be able to find anything I need!, I have one more bit to do this morning then that’s done.
DH started cutting hedge, with his electric shears and cut through the lead…..of course it was all my fault for asking him to do it 😵‍💫 That’s precisely why I don’t like asking him to do anything!
Anyway, he has refused to let our lovely neighbour help him 🤷🏼‍♀️
Roast pork and all the trimmings planned for dinner. I cooked a chicken yesterday that I will strip and make some curries etc for the freezer this morning. I’m trying to meal plan more and stop relying on pre-prepared meals from the supermarket.
I’m going to start having a regular veg and fruit box from a local supplier because they’re super fresh and very good value.
I hope you have a good day x

Good morning from a calmer Morecambe Bay. The weather yesterday was horrendous here. I could have done with Madeleine’s weather as I got soaked to the skin. DH dropped me and my gardening tools off at church and I started work on my patch. I did a couple of hours in drizzly rain which wasn’t too bad, then went into the church for a welcome hot drink. DH arrived back to pick me up but I said another hour would have me finished and to come back for me. Apart from some man raking leaves everyone else called it a day and went home. I really should have gone home with DH. The rain decided to be torrential. There was an even puddle of water on my kneeling mat. I spent most of my extra hour sheltering under the church porch wishing I had got my phone with me and hoping DH would notice how bad it had turned and come back for me. I did consider walking home but was reluctant to leave my good gardening tools and there was too many to carry. When I eventually got home and into clean, warm, dry clothes my poor cold legs were a mix of red and blue blotches. I confess to putting the heating on for the first time this season. I spent the afternoon playing scrabble on my iPad with CDog curled up asleep on my knee.
Today is set to better weather but I shall enjoy a walk with the dog, attend church and attempt to get on top of some domestic chores. The washing machine will be busy today as we have free electricity between eleven and one o’clock.
Wishing everyone a good day. Take care🌸

Good morning from s somerset, dull and damp all day today

It was a good satisfying day yesterday, allotment early on and the two new bins for water-collection are now in place. Then it was pattern sorting and pattern amendment all day and evening. I now have a very heavy and extremely large potato sack full of paper and patterns. I have not quite finished but the bulk is done

My tv stand came at 5 and I put it together and set my bedroom tv up on that, it swivels and is now raised above the soundbar. It will be very comforting early evenings during winter. I haven`t watched anything on it yet, never have had a tv in my bedroom but am thinking ahead to winter warmth and comfort

Today I need to clean the floors and will, at last, be making the bias-binding so I can bind seams on my first quilted jacket. Soup-making later, or perhaps it is called a broth as I am going to add some barley. It is a good all-in-one to last 3 days

karmalady Sun 11-Oct-26 07:18:26

TheWieirdo I am hoping you had a decent sleep last night

ginny Sun 11-Oct-26 07:21:40

Good morning from Brixham where I was woken by some very loud seagullls. We are visiting friends.
Plan for today is for an easy morning, lunch by the harbour and perhaps a visit to a local NT property this afternoon.
Wishing a good day for all.

kittylester Sun 11-Oct-26 07:23:00

Good morning all from a chilly North Leicestershire. The heating is on.

Thank you for your good wishes yesterday for our wedding anniversary. We had a lovely day.

Today, DS1 is coming to watch the football on tv so hot dogs are the order of the day - with lots of fried onions.

Have the best day possibke everyone.

EkwaNimitee Sun 11-Oct-26 07:29:38

Good morning Mick and everyone from a cloudy looking Carlise, 6°C a little while ago.

Yesterday I went for an early walk, cheered by the fact that the previous evening's pill had brought my morning BP back to normal though there wasn't such an improvement at bedtime.
There was a stiff, chilly wind out and I started thinking about my woolly scarves, surely not in October?
Nevertheless, after lunch I had a seasonal change round of clothing, bringing the winter stuff out and putting away my lighter things. I find that rather sad. It's not the same in the spring, putting away winter clothes is cheering.
I had a long phone chat with my sister in between this, all's well with her world apart from worries on occasion with an aging dog.

Today, I must get my prepared hyacinths potted up and turn off the outside tap, there was ice on the car windscreen last Thursday morning, a warning to me.
I'll do one or two minor jobs and that will probably be it, reading the papers and my book will occupy my time.

Best wishes to all of you in sick bay and wishing a pleasant Sunday to all.

Grammaretto Sun 11-Oct-26 07:35:24

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
I have had hardly any sleep 😡 so am having TIB and with try to get another hour

My impromptu art sale was nice as was the local folk concert last night except I had to explain why I hadn't moved house to several groups of people.

But I won a box of chocs at the raffle which will be popular with the friends who are coming later to help me to fill the skip outside my house.

I have arranged a viewing of another house incase the one I offered on is quickly sold.
This one is nearer the town centre but doesn't have a garage/workshop.

Your dream sounds interesting gMattie
It sounds like an anxiety dream to me!

I hope you hear about your MRI soon Mick

Poor Gelisa. I hope you dried out!

Have a good day everyone.

Grandmabatty Sun 11-Oct-26 07:42:04

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 8° and dry. Madeleine that sounds like you had a good day yesterday.
Yesterday I made lentil soup for dgs2. He duly arrived and was a happy wee bunny. I also made spiced red cabbage with apples and a red cabbage slaw. The spiced red cabbage will mostly go in the freezer for Christmas. No-one eats it but me, however it wouldn't be Christmas without it. We played at Uno yesterday until he decided to make up his own rules which ensured he always won! He did lots of drawing throughout the day. Then insisted on a bath(he loves my bath) before dinner. Lots of wee toys were lined up along the rim of the bath and then we play an observation game where he takes one away and I have to guess what it is. Of course, it's in the bath so it's easy to guess. After bath, sausage roll and chips for his Lordship. His other grandad knocked the door to say good night to dgs2. He takes his dog for a walk past my house. Then dgs2 and I played Frustration which is similar to Ludo. At half seven he took himself to bed.
Today he came to get me just after seven, full of smiles and cheek. He cuddled diwn beside me for five minutes but that was long enough for him to lie still. Currently he's drinking a smoothie and drawing-his current obsession. I'm having coffee. Dd is picking him up at ten and then I will tidy the house. It will be a quiet day thereafter. Dinner will be something with salad. Have a good day all

baubles Sun 11-Oct-26 07:43:39

Good morning from South Lanarkshire where it’s dry and very cool.

I’ve been having dreadful cramps in my legs and feet at night, last night was awful. I’m going to have to investigate what to do to prevent this, I sleep badly enough.

DS, DH, and I went out Aurora hunting last night, it was faintly visible for a little while before the sky clouded over.

DD is taking DH and me to a live stage show of Two Doors Down this afternoon. It’s a very well observed comedy show about neighbours’ interactions with each other although one of the characters can be a bit sweary at times.

Wishing everyone a good Sunday.

Redcar Sun 11-Oct-26 07:43:52

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s dry and bright at the moment. Yesterday was cool and sunny.
I still felt tired from the covid jab so wasn’t inclined to do a lot. I did some washing which dried outside, then put a few bulbs in the garden. Despite recent rain, the soil is still very dry so digging to put daffodil bulbs in was hard work. I still have more to go in but they’ll have to wait either for more rain, or for someone stronger to dig the holes! If the gardener comes on Friday he may do it.
Nothing planned for today, hoping to see one or both of my DDs at some time during the day. There’s a pile of ironing to do and fans to put away for the winter, enough to keep me busy.

kitty I hope you and your DH had a Happy Anniversary yesterday.

theweirdo that must have been a very unsettling experience for you. Good that the police came out quickly, that person needs to be locked away somewhere!

grandmattie a service without a vicar sounds odd, but presumably someone will be leading it? I hope your search for a new vicar is successful soon, our parish has been without a vicar for more than two years, and so far there has been no interest.

fgt have an enjoyable time in Northumberland with your cousin and his partner.

Safe journeys to anyone travelling today.

Have as good a day as is possible everyone.

brook2704 Sun 11-Oct-26 08:00:37

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s been a cold night and it’s bright and sunny this morning
Sorry to hear about the cancelled visit harrigran and hope your DGD is better soon
We’ve nothing planned today so DH and I will probably go for a short walk, get a nice coffee out somewhere and sit and chat. We’re often quite busy doing different things during the week so we enjoy these times when we can.
Oh dear roses how can it be your fault
Hope everyone has the best day they can, take care all 💐

Gagagran Sun 11-Oct-26 08:06:06

Good Morning everyone from a chilly but dry central south coast.

We had both jabs yesterday morning, one in each arm, and the surgery was organised like a well oiled conveyor belt. We were back home before our 11.27 appointment time! The covid jab has been painful and is in my damaged arm. I haven't felt the flu jab in my other arm. I was cold in the night and have asked DH to help me change my summer weight duvet plus a blanket to the winter duvet. I still feel a bit odd but hope I recover and can make it to lunch across the road with our DGD who is due to visit today.

Nothing else planned and the CH is on so am enjoying feeling warmer than I did in the night!

Take care everyone and may the day be a good one for us all.

monk08 Sun 11-Oct-26 08:08:49

Good morning all from the Black country.
Sun shining so have put a load of washing on no rain predicted so hopefully it will dry and can be ironed and put away.
baubles enjoy your live show, we watch the televised version and really enjoy it but glad we haven't got neighbours like them.
Safe travels those on the move and virtual hugs where needed.
Have the best day you can everyone whatever your plans.

grandMattie Sun 11-Oct-26 08:09:57

Redcar, we do have the part-time assistant vicar for services, etc., + 3 ALMs and two retired vicars. They take the services, but it’s all the admin, etc., where he will be missed. He has an apparently bottomless amount of energy and ideas. We have a brilliant team though.

Liberty Sun 11-Oct-26 08:20:22

Good morning from a sunny Suffolk where I hope any wind is less biting than yesterday. I had planned to pot up a tray of violas and some bulbs but chickened out and stayed indoors after a short dog walk.

We are planning to have lunch at our favourite pub locally but I must message them and book a table. They are deservedly very popular and it’s risky just turning up.

Hope all have a relaxing day however you plan to spend it.

Gingster Sun 11-Oct-26 08:20:44

Good morning all and it’s light skied but chilly here is Essex. Yesterday was sunny but boy was it cold., I won’t complain as at least I can don more clothes, whereas in that awful heat , nothing could be done apart from hibernating.

Thankyou Nanny , I think it was you who told me I could watch Strictly on my I pad. I lay in my bed and enjoyed it.

We had a lovely Thai meal courtesy of M and S. and watched ‘Under’on Netflix. Dh and I never watch TV together but it was ok. A bit like Jaws. Not sure if we’ll continue with it though.

Whilst in town I walked past the very popular Barbers and waved to my 17 yr old DGD, who has just started as a Saturday girl there. She’s tried so hard to get a Saturday job anywhere and at last she’s got one.
She was smiley and chatting to the chaps in there. I think she’ll be popular as she’s polite, pretty and willing. A bit on the shy side but that’s not a bad thing working with all men.

I hope things have settled The Weirdo. That’s not a nice person to be living alongside. Don’t hesitate to call the police if he’s a problem again. He’s now on their records.

I hope you all have a pleasant day.🌻

hollysteers Sun 11-Oct-26 08:21:47

Good morning from a brightening northwest coast. I enjoyed a quiet day yesterday, practised my songs, booked tickets for local productions and generally enjoyed a complete day off, my arm was sore after my vaccination.

Long FaceTime with sister in the south in the evening and another quiet day today, but will take some exercise as I was surprised how tired I felt on my walk the day before yesterday.

My recently bereaved SIL is visiting my DD in the south today with my niece, so I’ll be interested to hear how that goes.
Thoughts to all🌺

Marydoll Sun 11-Oct-26 08:23:46

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is a chilly 8'C.

I have had a horrendous night painwise, DH's solution, Shut your eyes and try to sleep. 🤬
I have such a headache from lack of sleep.

R &L, my mum always had wallflowers in the garden.🥰

Madeleine, why aren't you saving as you go along?
If you are on a tablet or phone, highlight one word, you will then get a small menu, choose select all , copy, then go back into the thread and paste.

If you are on a PC, it's Control and the S key.

Ipad; I am sure someone can enlighten you.

Yesterday, it was chaos at Mass.
We were way behind, because a classical trio were practising for a fundraising concert in the church,, before Mass. We had to chase them out.

I was working about, when a parishioner asked why I had distributed last week's bulletin.
I suggested that perhaps, there were a few lying about from last week.
Then another parishioner joined in and then another.....
The P.P had printed 600 copies of the previous week's bulletin.😱
He was hearing confessions, therefore, I couldn't speak to him.
I made the decision to go find this week's on the PC and reprint 600 double sided sheets.
I stocked up the paper tray, so that it could run during Mass and grabbed a bundle to try and get us by.
The timer said one hour to go ; Mass was due to start in fifteen minutes! Oh dear.
The church was full to capacity and you would have thought the bulletins were made of gold leaf, when I asked some people to share!! Most parishioners were laughing, as I rushed around the church. The P.P pretended it hadn't happened.
One man was particular,y rude, demanding a bulletin, saying he wouldn't be leaving without one.
Despite me advising him, that there would be plenty at the end of Mass and that it was already online, he insisted I give him one.

I will do my Monday church jobs today, as I have an early GP appointment tomorrow.

I wish you all a pleasant Sunday.
