I love reading the good morning thread.
Lovely to hear what you are all doing. I live in the north west.
Just seen on Facebook some entitled brat saying they are going to block shops on 28th October as a protest against the government. He mentioned supermarkets but he didn't make it clear if it was all shops selling food.
I am marking it on my calendar to make sure I go to Sainsbury's for some shopping . I dare anyone stopping me going in.

A late good morning from a bright corner of S E Essex.

I wanted to finish my other book (a Heidi Swain chick-lit) on my kindle and totally forgot to post 🤦‍♀️

We are going to a friends ‘0’ birthday celebrations later this afternoon, picking up friends on the way. I have the short stew and will be driving home.

Thinking of our absent friends 🙋‍♀️

Morning all from a cool West Oxfordshire.

Yesterday, while OH watched football I drove me and younger son to Mitford sister country - Swinbrook and Asthall. It’s only half an hour’s drive. Two beautiful villages and two churches. We saw their childhood home and found Nancy’s, Unity’s and Diana’s graves. A quick drink in a pub and home.

Son cooked his perfect fish pie for dinner and we had homemade ice cream for pudding - lemon, chocolate peppermint and marmalade.

Annoyingly I had a migraine, the first one for a while. A sumatriptan sorted it out.

Leg of lamb for lunch and then I’ll drive son back to Oxford to catch a train to London.

Have a good day.

I also drink a small glass of tonic water most evenings as that's supposed to stave off cramp, Baubles.

Good morning from Shropshire.Dry and bright but chilly.

We had our flu jabs and physio yesterday morning.DH spent a couple of hours in the garden which is looking good.I changed the bedding and cleaned and sorted the grandchildren’s bedrooms.I managed a bag for the charity shop between the two rooms which DH then went through and removed a couple of items.

Nothing planned today apart from taking the dog for a walk. She is no trouble but still a responsibility.DD1 and family are away enjoying a holiday in the sun so no childcare this week.

DD2 is unwell but hoping to hear she is feeling better today after being taken to AandE from school on Friday🙏🏻

I hope you have had no more trouble from that awful man Weirdo.

Wishing everyone a good day 🦩🌻

Baubles I've heard people recommend a magnesium supplement. My friend thought her cramps were due to a lack of salt, so she would have a packet of crisps!
Marydoll I would have been tempted to give him one right enough!
Dgs2 has beaten me twice this morning at Frustration and has had two waffles so far.

madeleine45 Sun 11-Oct-26 09:04:59

Marydoll , thanks for the advice about control and S. I didnt know that so will give it a go. I told you I am a funny mix of lots of knowledge about some things on the laptop and yet have holes where I dont know what I am doing.

Honestly it beggars belief that people in church should be so rude and selfish. You do so much for your church and I feel you get little thanks, too much blame, and no help. I would be tempted to stay away for a month and let them sort it out themselves or alternatively would be very tempted to shove quite a handful of the wrong bulletins down the neck of the rude man!! Not a very christian attitude I know , but really I dont think much of your complaining congregation. You are definitely the Samaritain who gives help, whilst it seems to me an awful lot of them "pass by" when there are jobs to be done. Perhaps in an advent sermon it could be suggested that a christmas gift of more help and less moaning would be the best offering they could give!!

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s 8°C and dry. Good because I’ll be on the motorway in two hours with my cousin, off to their place in a little hamlet just outside Hexham. It’ll take us just shy of 3 hours.

I’m going to jump in the shower now and dress. I’ve got a cunning plan. Breakfast and coffee in the Loungers Bar below me! I can then just look out of the window to see my cousin pull up. Handy. 😁

dragonfly46 Sun 11-Oct-26 08:46:00

Good morning from sunny Leicestershire.
We don’t have the heating on yet but I expect we will soon.

Today we are going to sort our clothes out and be ruthless.
Air Ambulance are picking up on Monday.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Good Morning from a bright, cool Durham. A poor night here too, as I was awake between 2.30 and 4.30am. Thankfully, it’s not as wild and windy as yesterday, although I still managed to get Little Dog out for two decent walks. Not sure what’s happening with him today.
DD2 and I are taking DGS2 to a big local (to her) garden centre later. It has a good cafe, so we’ll eat there, which saves me cooking later - I often can’t be bothered to cook just for myself.
Sorry about your stomach Harri. Can you eat or freeze some of the food?
DD2’s best friend had a similar problem The Weirdo but in the end, she had to move, as the chap in question lived in the flat above hers.
Hope all the travellers arrive at their destinations safely.

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning everyone from a very bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton, fine weather all day, so I may do some washing.

Changed to my autumn weight duvet yesterday, so washed the bedding which dried nicely on the line.

Rugby yesterday afternoon, perfect weather though a chill wind, but bright and sunny. Expecting a difficult match against Bath and it didn't disappoint, but Saints came out winners 71-48. 💛💚💛💚.
I had recorded it, so watched it again while I had my dinner!

May have a walk to the paper shop today to settle my bill, and cancel the papers over my upcoming holiday.
Apart from that a quiet day - lamb chops for dinner tonight.

Wishing all a pleasant Sunday.

Greyduster Sun 11-Oct-26 08:36:35

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where the sun is shining, but it is currently 7 degrees.

I didn’t do anything exciting yesterday - mostly shopping and housework. I was limping most of the day from pain in my hip. Touch wood it seems to be ok this morning. DD and SiL came in the early evening and brought fish and chips which were lovely. They stayed a couple of hours. DD had run a half marathon in the morning and was tired.

DS sent a raft of photographs from his stepson’s wedding. A very dressy do - just as well I refused the invitation!! It would have been like a tramp turning up😂! He also sent me one to show he was wearing some very special cufflinks his father had left to him. He said he had bought a double cuffed shirt specially to accommodate them but didn’t know if he would ever get the chance to wear them again. No matter. He was wearing them! DH wore them often, along with another pair which GS now has..

I sterilised the jars for the sloe gin yesterday and bought the gin, so I shall get to it today. I must also try and cut the top lawn once the sun has come round. Hopefully it will be the last cut but who knows.

Have the best day you can, folks.

madeleine45 Sun 11-Oct-26 08:29:39

Came back to read your posts. When I first tried to post my message it hovered around again for a bit and I thought I would blow a gasket if it disappeared again, but fortunately it went in ok. I then went back to bed with a drink, then on the plus side I fell asleep and got another hour, but of course woke to my cold drink! I am just watching one squirrel on the ground making holes with another one running along the fence, its like being Beatrix Potter here today, but no accompanying pigeons. So far more daylight and looks sunny but cold, so the plans for the day still stand, with ironing getting priority, not only because I need the clothes but it will be a warming job to do too. At least ironing is a satisfying job as you see a good pile of clothes all looking better and less ironing in the basket. Not like dusting, where you see very little for your efforts, and I used to hoover most days to have the place looking decent. That is now a job which is painful to do and is relegated to needing to clear up something I have spilt and being glad that the cleaners can bend down and hoover under things etc. Oh what a shame I dont have my phone to hand to take a picture. A cheeky squirrel has decided that one of my pots with salvia in it, which I can see from my window,is just the place to bury something and is scrabbling about and then has gone to the next pot along. I expect I shall be very surprised by what comes up next spring. And now 2 pigeons have arrived to join the scene . Time to get cracking. Have a good day everyone

Good morning from a bright but chilly Black Country.

Had a pleasant afternoon/evening yesterday at Brothers house for SIL's 70th. Was good to see Niece and her boyfriend. DGD2 came over on train from University. She is enjoying her time there, and made quite a few new friends.

The theme for for was Italian, with a lovely vegetarian Lasagne, Pizza, Mac n cheese and salad.

No real plans for today, ironing and a bit of housework. Chicken for dinner tonight.

Have a lovely day everyone

latedecember1963 Sun 11-Oct-26 08:25:48

Good morning everyone from Lancashire.

Your day yesterday sounds good, Madeleine. Must make you feel much more human.

Gelissa, I hope you don't end up with a chill.
Maybe it's different in different areas and denominations, but it irritates me that Manchester diocese expects more and more from lay people while demanding we cough up more in our parish share.
Several years ago I went to Church House in Manchester to do some PCC Secretary training and the main door was wide open to the street on a cold evening letting out the heat and the building was lit up like a Christmas tree.
No wonder they keep putting up our parish share, won't fund a cleaner or a gardener and our poor vicar has to split himself between 4 churches since the previous 2nd vicar retired after heart problems due to overwork.
Of course this is dressed up as giving the laity more agency! Grrr!
I'll hop off my soapbox now. 😂

Your DGS sounds delightful, Grandmabatty! What a little sweetheart. The description of your day together is gorgeous.

I'm thinking we need to get a skip, Grammaretto. I normally sort out the garage a couple of times a year but we haven't done it since the little chap arrived and it's become a dumping ground.

Sorry to hear about your cramps, Baubles. DH woke with a bad leg cramp on Thursday night and it was still sore yesterday. It's a horrible pain.

Yesterday's haircut for the little chap was successful. He was a bit restless so I sat him on my knee and sang to him while Scarlett snipped away. He loves being sung to. I've no doubt I sounded like one of the no hoper auditionees from back in the day on X Factor but it did the trick.

This morning I'll escape to church on my own and then we'll make a decision about what to do in the afternoon.

Wishing you all the best day possible. 🌻

Jaxjacky Sun 11-Oct-26 08:25:27

Morning from a dry, cloudy S Hants, 9 cool.
Enjoy TDD baubles we like the TV programme, makes me wince!
A quiet day expected, no football for grandson today so MrJ won’t go. We do have our south coast derby to watch at 12 however, an historical grudge match, it will be well attended.
Roast chicken for MrJ later, I’m getting there, but may have fish again, gums still healing.
Thoughts with those absent including Bellas and Blossoming.
Have a gentle day all.

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is a chilly 8'C.

I have had a horrendous night painwise, DH's solution, Shut your eyes and try to sleep. 🤬
I have such a headache from lack of sleep.

R &L, my mum always had wallflowers in the garden.🥰

Madeleine, why aren't you saving as you go along?
If you are on a tablet or phone, highlight one word, you will then get a small menu, choose select all , copy, then go back into the thread and paste.

If you are on a PC, it's Control and the S key.

Ipad; I am sure someone can enlighten you.

Yesterday, it was chaos at Mass.
We were way behind, because a classical trio were practising for a fundraising concert in the church,, before Mass. We had to chase them out.

I was working about, when a parishioner asked why I had distributed last week's bulletin.
I suggested that perhaps, there were a few lying about from last week.
Then another parishioner joined in and then another.....
The P.P had printed 600 copies of the previous week's bulletin.😱
He was hearing confessions, therefore, I couldn't speak to him.
I made the decision to go find this week's on the PC and reprint 600 double sided sheets.
I stocked up the paper tray, so that it could run during Mass and grabbed a bundle to try and get us by.
The timer said one hour to go ; Mass was due to start in fifteen minutes! Oh dear.
The church was full to capacity and you would have thought the bulletins were made of gold leaf, when I asked some people to share!! Most parishioners were laughing, as I rushed around the church. The P.P pretended it hadn't happened.
One man was particular,y rude, demanding a bulletin, saying he wouldn't be leaving without one.
Despite me advising him, that there would be plenty at the end of Mass and that it was already online, he insisted I give him one.

I will do my Monday church jobs today, as I have an early GP appointment tomorrow.

I wish you all a pleasant Sunday.

hollysteers Sun 11-Oct-26 08:21:47

Good morning from a brightening northwest coast. I enjoyed a quiet day yesterday, practised my songs, booked tickets for local productions and generally enjoyed a complete day off, my arm was sore after my vaccination.

Long FaceTime with sister in the south in the evening and another quiet day today, but will take some exercise as I was surprised how tired I felt on my walk the day before yesterday.

My recently bereaved SIL is visiting my DD in the south today with my niece, so I’ll be interested to hear how that goes.
Thoughts to all🌺

Gingster Sun 11-Oct-26 08:20:44

Good morning all and it’s light skied but chilly here is Essex. Yesterday was sunny but boy was it cold., I won’t complain as at least I can don more clothes, whereas in that awful heat , nothing could be done apart from hibernating.

Thankyou Nanny , I think it was you who told me I could watch Strictly on my I pad. I lay in my bed and enjoyed it.

We had a lovely Thai meal courtesy of M and S. and watched ‘Under’on Netflix. Dh and I never watch TV together but it was ok. A bit like Jaws. Not sure if we’ll continue with it though.

Whilst in town I walked past the very popular Barbers and waved to my 17 yr old DGD, who has just started as a Saturday girl there. She’s tried so hard to get a Saturday job anywhere and at last she’s got one.
She was smiley and chatting to the chaps in there. I think she’ll be popular as she’s polite, pretty and willing. A bit on the shy side but that’s not a bad thing working with all men.

I hope things have settled The Weirdo. That’s not a nice person to be living alongside. Don’t hesitate to call the police if he’s a problem again. He’s now on their records.

I hope you all have a pleasant day.🌻

Liberty Sun 11-Oct-26 08:20:22

Good morning from a sunny Suffolk where I hope any wind is less biting than yesterday. I had planned to pot up a tray of violas and some bulbs but chickened out and stayed indoors after a short dog walk.

We are planning to have lunch at our favourite pub locally but I must message them and book a table. They are deservedly very popular and it’s risky just turning up.

Hope all have a relaxing day however you plan to spend it.

grandMattie Sun 11-Oct-26 08:09:57

Redcar, we do have the part-time assistant vicar for services, etc., + 3 ALMs and two retired vicars. They take the services, but it’s all the admin, etc., where he will be missed. He has an apparently bottomless amount of energy and ideas. We have a brilliant team though.

monk08 Sun 11-Oct-26 08:08:49

Good morning all from the Black country.
Sun shining so have put a load of washing on no rain predicted so hopefully it will dry and can be ironed and put away.
baubles enjoy your live show, we watch the televised version and really enjoy it but glad we haven't got neighbours like them.
Safe travels those on the move and virtual hugs where needed.
Have the best day you can everyone whatever your plans.

Gagagran Sun 11-Oct-26 08:06:06

Good Morning everyone from a chilly but dry central south coast.

We had both jabs yesterday morning, one in each arm, and the surgery was organised like a well oiled conveyor belt. We were back home before our 11.27 appointment time! The covid jab has been painful and is in my damaged arm. I haven't felt the flu jab in my other arm. I was cold in the night and have asked DH to help me change my summer weight duvet plus a blanket to the winter duvet. I still feel a bit odd but hope I recover and can make it to lunch across the road with our DGD who is due to visit today.

Nothing else planned and the CH is on so am enjoying feeling warmer than I did in the night!

Take care everyone and may the day be a good one for us all.

brook2704 Sun 11-Oct-26 08:00:37

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s been a cold night and it’s bright and sunny this morning
Sorry to hear about the cancelled visit harrigran and hope your DGD is better soon
We’ve nothing planned today so DH and I will probably go for a short walk, get a nice coffee out somewhere and sit and chat. We’re often quite busy doing different things during the week so we enjoy these times when we can.
Oh dear roses how can it be your fault
Hope everyone has the best day they can, take care all 💐

Redcar Sun 11-Oct-26 07:43:52

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s dry and bright at the moment. Yesterday was cool and sunny.
I still felt tired from the covid jab so wasn’t inclined to do a lot. I did some washing which dried outside, then put a few bulbs in the garden. Despite recent rain, the soil is still very dry so digging to put daffodil bulbs in was hard work. I still have more to go in but they’ll have to wait either for more rain, or for someone stronger to dig the holes! If the gardener comes on Friday he may do it.
Nothing planned for today, hoping to see one or both of my DDs at some time during the day. There’s a pile of ironing to do and fans to put away for the winter, enough to keep me busy.

kitty I hope you and your DH had a Happy Anniversary yesterday.

theweirdo that must have been a very unsettling experience for you. Good that the police came out quickly, that person needs to be locked away somewhere!

grandmattie a service without a vicar sounds odd, but presumably someone will be leading it? I hope your search for a new vicar is successful soon, our parish has been without a vicar for more than two years, and so far there has been no interest.

fgt have an enjoyable time in Northumberland with your cousin and his partner.

Safe journeys to anyone travelling today.

Have as good a day as is possible everyone.
