Good morning Micheal and all GN's from a dark still morning in North Yorkshire. I can just see the outline of the tree against the sky, have Elgar on radio 3 and hopefully today I will be more compos mentis and slowly start to get things back to whatever passes as normal here.
I eventually came back to the posts late yesterday and have told the tale of the hospital visit etc for those who want to read the rest of that saga. Felt totally shattered yesterday, but mentally a lot better, and that is by far the most important bit rather than the physical. However I think I had been keeping so much tension and worry pushed down, that when after all the tests etc the doctor said that it was not deep vein thrombosis or other nasty things I just said thankyou for all the things they had done, and agreed that I would come home, without further antibiotics. That I would take care and see how it went, and the slightest change for the worst would be back at the hospital, but was so glad to escape and go home, even if everything was a total mess .
So yesterday was an odd day, I felt really exhausted and my muscles ached and I was at times , just sat there , doing nothing, not even reading, but with radio 3 on. I think it was taking a time to sink in and feel that I had dodged the bullet, and things will get better now. I couldnt think of anything I wanted to cook, nor any jobs that I felt like doing, so rang the local simple pub, who do a sunday lunch and checked if I could get lunch there, as they are very popular and get booked up quickly. I was in luck. They are just what I like, in that as a small place they are like visiting family for sunday lunch. Well cooked food, with good gravy and of the quality that I would make myself, but not that restaurant style.
So I was there for 12 o clock and it was already quite full. I know there are many who go every week and that quite a few people who live alone and have family visiting go there so that they are not doing the cooking but can have a good meal. The roast beef and yorkshire were very good and of course good gravy and freshly cooked selection of vegetable. I went mad and had a small Medoc to go with it and have to say that it disappeared at a rate of knots, and I relaxed as I enjoyed both the meal, and the pleasant atmosphere. It was very calming and let me feel that at last I am getting things back to something like normal .
I came home with the intention of doing some sorting out of the chaos, but made a cup of coffee, sat down to check some papers and promptly fell asleep , waking to very cold coffee about 3pm. So I made more coffee and ignored any jobs but sat and watched the Burghley Horse trials, and then later the antiques road show and vigil, so was just recovering and only sort of got going late in the evening, but did wash up and put a few things away.
Still not sleeping well or long, but I do feel I have turned a corner mentally, and whilst I am only too aware of the many things awaiting my attention, that really uptight and edgy feeling has gone, as I feel back in charge of my life, and able to work out what needs to be done next, without that tensing up where you feel that things are going wrong and you might end up being shoved to do things you dont want to!!
So here I am starting a better day. For one thing, I walked into a clean kitchen with the washing up done. That is a better start and lets me feel I amon top of things. My first important thing I must do, is get the calendar and diary out and put appointments and stuff in, so that I dont miss something important. At least all the kerfuffle has helped me NOT to dwell on the dentist tomorrow, but I also know that I wont be having any treatment anyway, because I would not risk having anything unnecessary done until I am physically a bit better. If the weather stays dry, I hope to take my chair out and sit on the grass, looking at all the borders and planning for future efforts. It is really good to be sat here just thinking in a normal way of what I may or may not get round to doing. At the least I will go through the ironing mounting and put it in order , which I may then later attack with a radio play or concert to enjoy with it, but just wait and see how I feel later.
I am going to go back and read up the last couple of days posts as I feel that I have missed out and want to catch up on all your doings. My son will be 51 tomorrow, how can that be? No I think it is me who should be 51!! Had originally planned to meet up with them but all this has meant that we didnt get together. They sent me a good picture of my grandson in his new school uniform ready for the first day at his new school. Well as soon as my leg is better I shall try and organise a meeting somewhere.
Hope your delivery comes early Mick. Did you get to see any of the cycle race round here? I think it was a Lloyds race from the coast and up round swaledale and wensleydale. GrandMattie Is there a charity you support who could have a raffle for your lovely quilt to raise money for them.? I am sure many people would love the opportunity of receiving such a lovely thing and also helping the charity too. Or put it carefully away for now and when we get nearer to christmas you might raffle it yourself at your church or again give it to a charity to sell or raffle.GrandmaBatty thank you for your good wishes and I shall go back to read what has been happening to you as I have obviously missed some things. Helterskelter, good luck with the washing machine and hope it will be merrily sorting out your pile soon.
Well I too am in need of a decent cup of coffee and then a slow start to jobs. My beloved Bach before 7 is just about to start, my best calmer, relaxer and joy , far better than any tablets. Wishing you all a good start to your week, and may you relax into that school term time peace and get to see old friends and catch up with all the news. Have a happy day everyone
