I'm just catching up with all of this.
Thank you Annie for your explanation. It is helpful to know the reasons behind the decision, and I am grateful that you have taken the time to post, particularly as you will have known that it would attract comment.
It seems, then, that either there was no 'Poster X' who reported one incident, or there have been numerous reports over a period of time, and one was a final straw.
As I keep saying, I don't know what happened, but I have seen on another board (where I was admin) that sometimes things can simmer under the surface that are not visible to most people who are not involved. It is only when your attention is drawn to it, and you go through a backlog of posts that it becomes obvious that it is going on. That doesn't make it less hurtful or difficult for the person on the receiving end, though, and that hurt can be worse if others refuse to believe it was happening, and/or blame her for complaining.
In the past, when people have been banned on here and the banning is followed by a chorus of 'I can't believe it - I never saw the banned poster say anything personal' I wonder if I am in a parallel universe, as I have seen a lot of it. I'm sure I miss a lot on threads that don't interest me, too. Nobody is on all threads every day - we all have other things to do - so we can't see everything that goes on, and have a full picture.
Anyway, I, too, will miss Allira's posts, but I do appreciate your point about GN being for everyone. I hope that whoever X is, she is not given a bad time because of this from those who think they know who she is - from the sound of it no one person was 'responsible', and anyway, if someone is feeling 'got at' reporting is what we are encouraged to do.
