I have never found any poster to be offensive.
I have only ever reported the ‘Spams’ -
I still miss GSM and ofcourse Allira

There are a few posters who like to demonstrate their perceived superiority to cause upset; they fly close to the wind then prudently withdraw for a break, sometimes with a flounce ,sometimes not. They then return refreshed after period of abstinence under a new name, because the old one has lapsed, apparently. If recognised by their style or comments they freely admit it as they have broken no rules and continue on their merry way, spreading discord.
In my opinion.

I’ll be honest, I don’t know ANYONE like this on here.

Aside from posters who pop up from nowhere, say a few rude things, then promptly disappear back to whence they came.

I know of no regular well known posters who behave in the way you describe.

I agree, nor controlling.

As an aside, even if some posters are sometimes a little rude or offensive, so long as it’s not a personal, bullying attack on one poster, I’m OK with this.

The issue with the written word is that sometimes we take offence, when none was intended.

As I’ve said before, we are all grown ups, if someone or something offended me, I’d say so. Likewise if someone took a post from me personally. I’d apologise.

I’ve been reported before, I try to stay balanced but like us all I’m just a flawed human being, my comment was removed, even though I was called out and did apologise.

I’d never knowingly insult or put personally offensive remarks in here, but sometimes it happens, just like it does in real life, especially on the N&P thread where passions and emotions can run high.

With written words you don't get the tone of voice or the little signs that someone isn't serious as in face to face.
I have seen people making a joke that I've found funny and someone else has found offensive. If they had been face to face they would have realised it was a joke.

Some comments in this and the previous thread refer to “a Reporter”, seemingly known to some, while HQ cite several reports across a variety of threads. Or were all those reported by the same person? I find this whole saga really sinister and I’m wondering how someone can hound a member like this to the point where they are banned when everyone who has known that member has never seen her say anything controversial, but quite the opposite. I’m truly puzzled

We are not going away unfortunately for you. Are we ladies? ( I haven’t seen any gents fighting the good fight? )

I think GNHQ may have underestimated just how tenacious we can be when we have a bee in our bonnet! And the banning of Allira is most definitely a cause that most of us have rallied round - and we won't be giving up!

A few years ago at least 4 of us were banned at the same time for a few weeks. I can't remember what the gross error was now but kittylester and/or Maw may remember, Birdbrain here can't.

I may be wrong Charley but I think it was a troll masquerading as a 'proper' poster. They targeted phoenix and some others. But someone with a better memory will put us right.

I think that all the banned posters were allowed to return to the fold. And, the troll was seen off. Possibly!!

As a relative newbie, I had no idea so many bannings have gone on.

A while back I used a term which I thought was perfectly acceptable and in every day use. It was reported and my post removed. I queried this and was told it was regarded by a poster as offensive. I checked this out myself and it was used all over social media with just one instance on AI where it said it might be considered offensive. I then spoke to the mods and pointed this out and was told if I turned the two words around and made it into five words that was acceptable!

I was accused by another poster of making a sexist comment in a post a while back on some or other thread. It didn't bother me in the slightest (but now I think - was that thread policing?) 😅

Full disclosure - I'm human, sometimes I c*ck up!

Yes that resonates, it's definitely occurred and then the flouncer who will emphatically assert complete with fanfare not being the type to do it quietly that they've had enough of GN due to whatever disagreeable exchange they're experiencing.............but back under a new guise and like us all, if familiar with their posting style and their personal interests, it will be clearly evident who they were before.

fancythat I have been banned several times, and you have probably picked up quickly how rude and aggressive I am! I have a dry sense of humour which hasn't always been appreciated, and I leave certain threads deliberately but on the whole I enjoy surfing around here.

Would it help if we stayed off GN for 24 hours?

I think AI would be more discerning, and that's saying something!

There's obviously an art to this reporting business.

To get admin to investigate and agree on all those points, the poster must either have a degree in Forensics or has kept detailed notes over a period of time. Then they must also have a qualification in presenting their information in such a way as to twist Allira's meaning and viciously show her in the worst possible light. Followed by their meticulate studies on complete character assassination, and there you have it. A sad little weasel who is conniving and untrustworthy.

Compare that with Allira, please.

Actually, there are quite a few fortified citadels here in western France, (though they haven't got a King), to lock us up in. Food is probably nicer. And 🍷.
I've discovered a really nice wine, Allira, called Pinneau, not Pinot. You'd like it. 🍷
