Disappearing contributers

It's a bit sad in a way that some people seem to be taking this thread off course to suit their own ends, when it's clear that the vast majority of us just want Allira to be reinstated. All this sniping isn't going to help us achieve that goal, is it?

I hope someone from gransnet is reviewing Allira’s many positive contributions as Allira and Callistemon.
Is there also a wider issue about name changes. I’m no Miss Marple, my interest and memory doesn’t generally extend to working out who new poster A was in one of her previous incarnations. Despite this, some are so obvious by political views and ways of expressing themselves. I’m not sure what if anything can be done about this. Sometimes it’s obviously a poster who has been banned several times, I’m thinking here of a disrupter who haunted the Estrangement threads, got banned, returned several times.

I share the view here that Allira was unfairly banned. I’d like to see her back.

In fact it feels counterproductive just scaring people off GN. Starting say things like oh it might be closed down -

have GN's no idea what that feels like to those of us who rely on GN for daily contact of different kinds due to home situations?

Well your post didn't read like that to me. Counting the number of deletions etc, trawling back two years. And why do you persist with the coy X when Maw's post that you so helpfully pinpointed so all could refer back to it gave you the names Callistemon and Allira? I find that quite baffling from someone who wanted to 'help'. We all know this thread is about Allira she's been named so many times, greeted by name from numerous posters...........

I was confused that my post seems to have spawned this forensic disssection , with which, I hasten to add, I don’t agree.
So no, I don’t find it helpful, merely obfuscating and I would not be surprised if it occasioned a response of TLDR from some people.
The bottom line seems to be that HQ have made a decision based on (at best) a misunderstanding.
They have failed, as far as I know, to provide actual evidence to Allira and there has been a lot of pointless speculation as to why they chose to put the boot in right now when she has been posting for years without any hint of contravening what seem to many of us arbitrary and indistinct guidelines.
The wider issue about how far adults may go in expressing their views without intervention or censorship is something which may need to be looked at.
Personal attacks, racism, politically inflammatory comments- we all agree these do not belong here. There is however the grey area of taking offence when none was intended or so-called bullying which we would not condone in RL so why here. But as I said we are all adults and not of the »snowflake» generation - maybe we could ‘gran up’ ?

But shutting down a supportive thread won't do anything to endorse our wish for Allira's return. Would those wanting us to stop posting because 'we've made our point' say the pro Palestine marches, vigils etc or climate change marches say they should have stopped some while ago because 'the point had been made'?

Speaking as someone who has had not a few name changes- it has always followed deregistration of my own choice , usually in extreme frustration when I’ve vowed to do more useful things with my time and then I have second thoughts, miss you and have to rejoin!
Impulsive, I know, but the names I choose have never been designed to deceive, and many’s the time I’ve racked my brains to find a recognisable name.
You actually had me feeling guilty Graphite in the same way I walk through the green channel at Customs, always expecting to be pulled over!
There are a few posters I remember from past years (even on this thread) including suspensions whom I would not dream of dobbing in, but they usually give themselves away either by their choice of language or of style.

Well we are heading for 1,000 posts when we will no longer be able to post anyway. As I said, brick walls come to mind. I hope the person who dobbed Allira is thoroughly ashamed and leaves . Some of us have a clue who it is but without proof it is best to keep our mouths shut.

This thread was started one week ago today. I thought we may have heard from HQ by now. I think it was Saturday when they last said they would get back to us.

We hope they do reinstate Allira. That has been them main purpose of this thread.

However, it can be difficult for GNHQ, because if they reinstate Allira, which we hope they do,
they will then have to placate the aggrieved reporter(s) who started the process and will feel that their feelings are being disregarded.

MawsRosie’s post on Wed 27-May-26 16:54:58 on page 13 has the most useful information which, if used in conjunction with the search function, shows that the person concerned has had not two but four names, the first three very similar, following a convention, and then one very different.
Under those four names she has had many, many posts deleted. I’m not going to count them but they take a while to scroll through so they may possibly run into three figures

I think this is a very dangerous allegation. Allira was at one time Callistemon but are you saying she has had four name changes and over 100 posts deleted ????
No way, you are obviously thinking of somebody else and need to make that clear.
If not, that sort of slur, whether you are referring to X meaning Allira or another poster is vey serious and needs facts to back it up.
Far from helping Allira’s cause you seem to be determined act as judge, jury and executioner.

If they reinstate Allira today she has at least had a decent time of suspension. Surely that would be enough to placate the 'reporter'?

I hadn't realised Allira was Callistemon until this thread. I used to really enjoy Callistemons posts ( if I remember rightly she was a good support on the gender threads) I could never spell her name correctly, Allira is easier 🙂
