Beauty treatments- which do you have?

I have hair appointments every six weeks - alternate ones are highlights. I have a pedicure every 6 weeks or so but that is all.

What do you have?

I wonder whether I don't think i am worth the cost and attention or am I just content with myself. What else should I consider?

I shall be wearing eye liner in my coffin - otherwise I’ll be back to haunt both DDs!

Apart from the hair, I don’t have anything done.

It’s not because I don’t need it, because I can’t be bothered & expensive.
Bit of make up most days, especially around the eyes, otherwise they look like pee holes in the snow

I think there is a difference between cosmetic/beauty treatments and relaxation therapies.

Yes, I do pay for a good haircut every few weeks but nothing else.

However, a relaxing facial. hot stone massage etc doesn't make me beautiful in that sense but still does me a lot of good in a well-being sense.

Haircut every 6 weeks, colour it myself

Electrolysis on my face every six weeks, i would have a beard to rival my DH's without it, I have been having it for 40 years

Eyebrow tint and shape every 6 weeks

Nothing else, there is othing else I feel in need of, I have very suare nails that I keep cut short, so do nothing to draw attention to them.

I get waxing/threading done every four to six weeks - or else I'd be lining up for a job as the bearded lady too!

Forgot, toenails gelled one or twice over summer, never fingernails.

Thank you Georgesgran. I zm tempted as I have quite achey feet and legs so perhaps reflexology will help. I am wondering if my new podiatrist does it. I will ask her at my next appointment.
Years ago when I was about 35 I went with a cousin to Joan Prices Face Place in S Kensington for a makeup. I looked truly awful after it. My cousin who is the kindest and mildest of women had to agree with me that it was. After that I am reluctant to let anyone near my face apart from a lovely asian dermstology consultsnt who successfully froze my seborrheoic keratoses off my face. Now that was money well spent.

HelterSkelter1 When I was a teenager, as a birthday present, my mother paid for me to have an Estee Lauder tutorial and makeup session at Harrods.

The makeup artist remarked at how pale and washed out I looked and how eye makeup needed to be subtle. I came out with a face covered in blusher that looked as though I had been attacked with a blow torch, bright coral pink lipstick, bright blue eye shadow and a smidgeon of brown mascara.grin

I don't have anything. But I bought myself a new Maybelline eye pencil yesterday.

Magenta8, my mother offered to pay for one of those tutorial sessions for my 15th birthday present. She thought I was very odd when I politely said No, thanks because, even then, I disliked the feel of cosmetics on my skin. If your experience is anything to judge by, I made the correct decision! 😂

hairdresser every four weeks alternating between colour and cut/blowdry.
nail bar for fingernails (acrylic) every four weeks plus toenails to match fingers about every eight weeks.
chiropodist/podiatrist visit every seven weeks (she comes to me).
my nails and hair are luxuries I won't give up but the chiropodist is to keep my feet checked up on - i'm type 2 diabetic.

GrannyGravy13

Regular manicure and pedicures (toes and fingers must match year round)

Eyebrow waxing, lash and brow dye every six weeks.

Hair cut and colour every 6-8 weeks

Facial every couple of months.

Oh dear, I really am rather high maintenance…

I do all of this except the pedicure which I just have in summer. Basic maintenance really!

Cambia Thu 21-May-26 14:09:11

Blow dry every week, colour every five weeks. Caci facial one a month, gel nails every three weeks.

Dye my own eyebrows but occasionally go for threading to shape them.

MadameP Thu 21-May-26 14:14:59

I have a monthly facial and 6-weekly cut and highlights. Occasional Hifu top ups. Because I’m worth it 😉

AlpineGranny Thu 21-May-26 14:15:31

Yes I've been to the Lighthouse, but it was Feb 2020. I wrote a review on Tripadvisor it was awful. May be better now of course

Momac55 Thu 21-May-26 14:18:20

Hifu facials approx 9 months apart, toe nails when I’m going on holiday, finger nails if special occasion or when going on holiday. Botox and fillers when needed

DevonshireSalop Thu 21-May-26 14:33:00

The occasional professional facial such as after an operation or feeling down. I cut my own hair, do my own nails but use facial serums and moisturisers religiously, mornings and nights.

Shanksy Thu 21-May-26 14:45:07

Well I guess it comes down to money for me and as I’ve taken early retirement I’m very aware now about luxuries and what I can afford so bare minimum for me is haircut and coloured every 4 months, eyelashes and eyebrows dyed every 4 months too oh and eyebrows trimmed.

GrannyIvy Thu 21-May-26 15:19:15

Hair cut and colour every 6 to 7 weeks
Eyebrow wax and tint every 5 weeks or so
Pedicure and gel nails every four weeks but only toes. I keep my finger nails short with clear polish I apply myself as I’m not keen on long brightly coloured finger nails.

I do fancy having reflexology never had it but going to treat myself

maxmyers Thu 21-May-26 15:29:42

Just hair every 6 weeks or so. I’ve embraced the grey so no need for colour.
I’ve had shellac nails done in the past, but ended up ruining it by picking at them, so don’t bother any more.
I moisturise and use factor 50. I would love something to get rid of puffy eyes but nothing I’ve tried works- any suggestions gratefully received.
I use eyelash serum on the advice of my DD - I think it works though no-one else would notice.
I’ve had laser treatment to get rid of spider veins on my face and was pleased with the results, but again I don’t think any one else noticed.
So quite a few things really, but most of the time no make up hair messy and wearing baggy jeans- always embarrassed when I bump into acquaintances in the supermarket. I suppose I scrub up ok when necessary but rarely have need.

Silvertwigs Thu 21-May-26 15:30:59

kittylester That’s all I have is my colours (foils) done every 8/9 weeks and a lux pedi. I used to have massages and facials but I don’t any longer. I would if I could afford it though 😂😂🤗

jakuss Thu 21-May-26 15:43:17

None, I can only afford haircut once a year, never had a manicure, pedicure, spa, health farm, hair done, facial, massage, pampering , absolutely nothing, never could afford it, age 78 now

Babsbada Thu 21-May-26 15:46:08

Hair cut and highlighted every six weeks. Nails i do myself. Expensive but effective facial products daily and dentist regularly for clean and polish. That's about it!

DamaskRose Thu 21-May-26 16:15:11

Hair cut every five weeks or so.
Have had gel nail colour twice and my nails were terrible afterwards so keep them short with clear nail polish.
Have had reflexology and loved it, must find someone in my new area.
I’ve inherited good skin from my mother but I do look after it too.
What I’d really like is a very natural looking spray tan …

Calendargirl Thu 21-May-26 16:22:41

I don’t have anything done, apart from a cut and blow dry about every 8/9 weeks.

Dentist every 6 months.

Cut my own toenails today.

Only make up I wear is a dash of lipstick on rare occasions.

Has never occurred to me to have anything done to my eyebrows.

No idea what Hifu was till I saw this thread.

Think my skin is relatively smooth and wrinkle free for early 70’s, but I do have dark circles under my eyes.
