I have hair appointments every six weeks - alternate ones are highlights. I have a pedicure every 6 weeks or so but that is all.

What do you have?

I wonder whether I don't think i am worth the cost and attention or am I just content with myself. What else should I consider?

TerriBull Wed 20-May-26 07:43:32

Hairdressers every 6 weeks for highlights, alternating between T section and full head. A cut every 3rd visit. Wash and blow dry every visit.

SpinDriftCoastal Wed 20-May-26 07:45:28

Hair cut, pedicure, eyebrows, and hydra facial twice a year.

keepcalmandcavachon Wed 20-May-26 09:24:22

I tend not to do much at all, daughter trims my hair and I buy lovely soaps and balms from a local bee keeper!
My ensuite lightbulb recently blew, and when I returned home after a morning around town realised that I'd applied cherry red lip liner as an eyebrow pencilgrin
No one mentioned it, and I did wonder if it was in fact a thing now.....

Cossy
Hair not ha!

Also, which I forgot, the three or four times a year, day spa.

I’ve also been in the past, checked into Randal’s (once) Champney’s (a good few times) and hotels with spas.
Have you been to The Lifehouse?“

I have indeed, in fact several times, few overnights, more days, I have a long standing dear friend who lives in Frinton who was a member for several years! I love the grounds (if you can avoid the duck poo 🤣🤣)

Cossy last time with one of my daughter in laws we had a ground floor garden room, it was delightful, apart from being woken up by the ducks…

Dry cut at the local barber about once a year.

Nothing! DD1 cuts my hair about every 3 months and that is it. I am always busy in the garden so see no point in doing anything with my nails, I just keep them short. I have never had a mani or a pedi, and hate the thought of anyone giving me massage or facials. I have fairly oily skin so don't bother with creams or lotions apart from Factor 50.
I have my fair share of wrinkles and age spots, but not bothered about looking my age, which will be 80 next month.

In the past my hair has usually been long .
It's so tricky to cut being curly.
I've given up .
I let it dry naturally and put it up .
I trim it myself and use Nutrisse to colour it .
I used to have fake tans as I'm so pale .
I used to have fake nails now I don't due to gardening and art workv. I do like and admire them but I've ripped off too many.

I would like a pedicure !
As it's almost sandal season .
I was just about to book one when the skin on my feet has become touchy from wearing trainers day in and day out .
I'll get some flip-flops in Primark today and let the skin recover.

Otherwise I just use baby lotion to clean my skin then apply Nivea and sum block .
Delay my make up until the cream settles.
Then a sweep of bronzer - no more heavy foundations some eye make up and lipstick.
I find that before I leave that a tissue is needed just to take off any excess .
Wearing heavy foundations can look ageing and unnatural. It settles in any wrinkles .
I tried something different a few years ago and have stuck with it.
Most people think that I look about 25 -30 years younger than my real age .
Then they see me walk !

Hair cut every five weeks by hairdresser who visits me.
That’s it.
I have never had anything else done.
No manicure, pedicure , facial, massage, ever, not even once, nothing.
Oh goodness, I feel I have neglected myself totally now.

I think all these little pamper sessions just make you feel good for a little while - it soon wears off !

crazyH Wed 20-May-26 10:29:36

And the pockets a bit lighter😂

MT62 Wed 20-May-26 10:36:51

Apart from the hair, I don’t have anything done.

Visgir1 Wed 20-May-26 11:19:00

Crumbs... I'm high maintenance too. Hair cut highlights every 6weeks. Pedicure and nails every 6 weeks. Eyelashes dyed every 6-8 weeks. Microcurent facial every 4weeks.
Plus...daily facial creams and body lotion. Spa trips a couple of times a year as well.
When it's written down it's rather a lot! 😳

Chocolatelovinggran Wed 20-May-26 11:29:56

I'm a cheap date - nothing other than the hairdresser..
I have had the occasional manicure, pedicure or facial in the past, so might consider these again, but a body massage is a no for me. I do not leave feeling relaxed at all.

Well I reckon they increase your lifespan!
I sold my salon when I was 63 and started working from my converted garage. I fully expected to be doing very little after 5years. Not a bit of it!
Women who have ‘maintenance’ treatments seem to go on and on. I carried on working harder than I thought for longer.
I’m not complaining.
I’m away next week so have just done my waxing , Eye brow tint and feet but will have a facial whilst I’m away. I can’t do that myself and I love them.

I know a woman who is in her late 70s or early 80s, at a guess. She always looks absolutely perfect - hair, nails, outfit, jewellery, shoes etc.

I once met her early in the morning, when I was collecting a prescription and she looked just as perfect then.

I would love to know what her regime involves.

I am lost in admiration for her. She is a lovely person too.

😁 I'm even more worthless. Haven't been to the hairdresser in over 20 years. Hair is long and curly and still brown so just let it do it's own thing apart from trimming up any bits that seem a bit dry.

Do my own manicures once a week. Nails are only painted for very short periods when I feel like it. Would like to have a pedicure now my feet seem such a long way away but never get around to it. Toenails are only painted for Summer sandals.

Apart from cream to battle the dryness of my skin that's it really. Oh and a bit of Dove self-tan to stop me looking like a ghost in the Summer.

hollysteers Wed 20-May-26 18:04:58

Hair highlights and roots as far apart as I can manage (brown spray for roots)
Acrylic nails as I pick my fingers to death without them. Pedicure I do myself and then not until the summer.
Botox as creams don’t cut the mustard. Vaseline is just as good.
Fillers twice a year.
Have no patience for long beauty treatments, but Botox is a must for me.

Haha, I’m sure you’re not!

watermeadow Wed 20-May-26 18:20:33

Hair cut at home about every 3 months.
Nails chewed.
Skin Nivea’d every night.
Clothes from charity shops.
I have far more important things to spend money on, like my pets.

grandMattie Wed 20-May-26 18:28:57

Haircut 6 weekly
Chiropodist 7-8 weekly.

Tenko Wed 20-May-26 18:33:25

I get my hair cut every 6-7 weeks , highlights every 3 months . Nails and toe nails when I go away , which is about 4 times a year . I’m happy with my lashes and brows and have a facial every 6 months . I do my own waxing . I had Botox for about 20 years but as I’ve got older , I’m 67 , it doesn’t work as well .

Georgesgran Wed 20-May-26 18:35:03

Reflexology is about £55-£60 for an hour session near me Helter. I’m sure you know that the theory is that certain parts of the foot relate to parts of the body, so massaging or applying pressure to a toe or other part of the foot improves the health of the corresponding area within the body.

It sounds like a load of rubbish and may well be, but it’s very relaxing, definitely reduces stress and I know of people who’ve actually fallen asleep during it.

I don’t have any hobbies as such, so spending a few pounds on treats like this makes me feel good. Yes, I’m worth it too.

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 20-May-26 18:38:20

Hair cut every 6 weeks.
Roots every 3 months - I’m not ready to embrace the grey.
Very occasional manicure
Pedicures in the summer, but not while I’m still treating my infected toe
Facial waxing - I tried electrolysis and it was agony!
I never leave the house without lipstick, earrings and a splash of perfume

MollyNew Wed 20-May-26 18:38:44

Haircut every 6 weeks. Highlights at Christmas and possibly Spring if it feels dull. As long as my hair is looking good, I can manage the rest myself.

I used to have my eyelashes tinted as they are blonde but I couldn't be bothered with the regular appointments.

I'd like to have my eyebrows microbladed but I'm scared of looking weird so I'll stick to eyebrow pencils!
