First dance after your wedding

No dancing at mine either. I had a harpist playing though!

We had to pay for our own wedding and couldn't afford a sit-down meal but had a buffet, a bar run by family & friends, a DJ and a good old East End knees up. Our first dance was 'Third Finger Left Hand' by Martha Reeves & The Vandellas. A wonderful 50 years ago next year.

We were married in 1968 had a band can’t remember if we had a song, just think they played a waltz of some sort.

I got married 1970, 49 years this year. We danced to Wedding Bell Blues. The chorus line was wanna marry you Bill, which wasn’t DH name!!

We married in 1975. No first dance as we had our reception in my parents house. To be honest we didn’t consider it a ‘thing’ to do. I didn’t throw my bouquet either, it was placed on my Grandmother’s grave the next day.
We did have a first dance at our Ruby wedding party though, Barry White - You’re my first, my last, my everything (our song) ❤️

62 years ago we didn't have evening dos we went straight off on our honeymoon to Jersey.

Married in 1964, I can't remember that detail, but it lasted and we're still
as happy as two comfortable old shoes, so I don't think it's important now.

No dance. Small-ish summer wedding, reception at home, lovely sunny day in my folks' garden, small marquee for the food. Plenty of guests still there when dh and I dragged ourselves away after 7 hours!

Grumpy old bag alert, but I dread the incredibly loud, banging music that always seems to follow weddings nowadays - usually in the same room where people trying to chat can't hear themselves think. Why does it have to be so LOUD??
A SiL who I rarely see, and I, once had to go outside - into drizzle! - in order to have any sort of conversation.

I'm interested to see that people had discos in the 70s as we got married in 1981 and didn't even think of an evening do! We left after the reception and a lot of my parents local friends went back to their house and had a nice social evening. My MiL retired to her hotel room with a migraine!!!

I was married 50 years ago today. No music and thank God no dancing. It was a painful miserable affair, as arranged by my mother and I knew I was making a terrible mistake.

We may not have had any dancing at the wedding but we had organ music at the service. It was a small low key service, but we both love classical music so we had an organist and chose the music with care.
