First dance after your wedding

Back in 1972 we had no disco or anything, so no first dance. The guests just chatted together.

We didn’t have a specific first dance either (1977).. We did have a bit of a disco at a local pub as our evening do though.

Ashamed to say, after 44 yrs I can't remember.
Our disco was provided free by a friend who had a mobile set up that paid his way through his accountancy studies.

Ours was a few friends with sandwiches and sausage rolls in the back garden. No music at all. I always slightly envied those who had a fancy frock and a ‘proper’ wedding and reception but despite the most basic wedding we are still together and about to celebrate our golden wedding. Might even push the boat out ..treat ourselves. Think we deserve it, why not?

No first dance here either we had a garden buffet for friends and family provided by my SIL.

Our DJ was one of DH’s friends. We realised a couple of hours before our evening do that we should perhaps have organised some supper, and my MIL quickly made some sandwiches and raided her cake tins so that we had something to take to the pub with us. How times have changed!

July 1975 for us, too, and my DH doesn't dance (except, perhaps occasionally and reluctantly at a ceilidh). So we had a sedate sit-down meal and no dancing - that suited my dad as well, since dancing was never his forté.

In 1970 we had no party and left the reception to catch the train to London for the start of our honeymoon!

We didn't have a party either and also left the reception to drive to the Lake District for the honeymoon

1968, definitely no dancing involved. I know that at some point we had a meal in a grand hotel for our extremely small number of guests, just close family and a few friends. Best, most fuss-free wedding ever.

We got married in hospital 1 day after massive op, with drip up- can't remember any of it- and certainly not in a state to dance- lol. Nearly 48 years ago, 29th of May 71. 7.5 months in hospital, 4.5 in traction.

A clone of Grandma70s, even to the year - except that the hotel was not that grand. As she said, the best fuss free wedding ever.

We didn't have dancing. It was a lovely buffet/afternoon tea job. Then at about five we went off on honeymoon. It was the way it was done in those days.

No first dance for us. Married in a Registry Office, reception for about 10 people in my mum's very small front room. No money for a big wedding. I don't think anyone danced. Celebrating 50 years this year.

We wanted a registry office KatyK my dad said we'd as well buy a dog licence ..he didn't care what denomination of church it was but a church it had to be.We married in Luss ,Loch Lomond and had our reception in anearby village hotel .Parents ruled then inlike brides now who get to have everything their way .We had 100 guests ,mostly family ,aunts cousins etc.Many we haven't set eyes on except at weddings and funerals since

Registry office wedding for us too with a get together at my parents house. Lovely sunny July day in 1970. No dancing.
