What do we feel about his public appeal for contact with his daughter. He says he texts every day but has heard nothing from her since the wedding. Apparently he has contacted the Queen for her help.

Cherrytree59 Mon 17-Dec-18 17:09:04

An even sadder situation for the child.
He will not only be an aggrieved father but also in the not too distant future an aggrieved grandparent.

I wouldnt be surpised if Charles discreetly pays him to fade into the background.

The British/American lawyers could be drawing up a contract as we speak. (A paper one of course)

dogsmother Mon 17-Dec-18 17:31:22

Cold. Thank you.
I had seen little if anything. I am not fussed on her at all and said from the beginning she’s an actress who seems to like to “star”. I feel Harry may have a job on.... maybe they all will get what they deserve. But I also think we all feel a little protective towards our younger prince.

EllanVannin Mon 17-Dec-18 17:45:11

Bit of a roguish family methinks.

Anniebach Mon 17-Dec-18 18:00:41

I certaintly don’t feel protective of a 34 year old ‘little prince’, it’s time he grew up.

Chewbacca Mon 17-Dec-18 18:24:17

I don't have feelings one way or the other about Meghan Markle but I imagine that there isn't a day when she doesn't dread seeing yet another bit of publicity seeking shit slinging from her step sister and father. I'll bet she cringes at the very thought of them. I would.

Fennel Mon 17-Dec-18 19:12:38

Same here 8Chewbacca*
But the media are making money out of it. They don't HAVE to report it.

Jane10 Mon 17-Dec-18 20:19:27

Harry should never have married into such a family. Given her past, there were always going to be ongoing embarrassments.

Chewbacca Mon 17-Dec-18 20:22:08

And we've only seen the beginning of it Jane10. I reckon her family will grow ever more grasping and embarrassing as time goes on.

Jalima1108 Mon 17-Dec-18 20:24:42

It's the last thing a pregnant woman needs - a possibly estranged father causing all this stress and all played out in public.

He obviously cares more about himself than he does about his daughter.

Chewbacca Mon 17-Dec-18 20:25:45

Or the ££££$$$$ Jalima!

Iam64 Mon 17-Dec-18 20:28:09

Jane10, what do you suggest Harry should have done rather than marry Meghan M ? Continue a love affair such as the one his father did with Camilla, whilst marrying some young woman, 15 years his junior, with no life experience or education. That one worked well last time didn't it.
I know we don't know but - Cold's summary seems an accurate representation of what we do know. Thomas Markle is a nightmare, as are his other daughter and son. They're loving their days in the limelight and don't give a stuff about how much damage they cause to MM or anyone else.

Anniebach Mon 17-Dec-18 20:28:27

but she didn’t introduce him to her family to be fair to Harry . It was strange no family invited , there are two Uncles on her mothers side , surely there must be cousins too.

I think when Harry met her he was toast.

Sorry Megan fans

Sparklefizz Mon 17-Dec-18 20:30:21

And he admits he put the phone down on Prince Harry. Added to all his other misdemeanours, honestly, what does he expect? He told the media what Prince Harry allegedly said, so does he think that will encourage them to speak to him again when he is likely to repeat every word?

Michele Obama was no good at keeping respectfully silent over her visit to the Queen either and has put several things in her book about their discussions when most people keep that to themselves.

And, for all we know, Meghan has been on the phone to him countless times but has not said anything he can sell to the press. We have no idea, do we? We only know what he says, and he's been proven a liar many times over.

Sparklefizz Mon 17-Dec-18 20:31:44

I don't think he helped his case by telling the media that at her first wedding bags of marijuana were handed out!!

Jalima1108 Mon 17-Dec-18 20:32:16

I don't think we can be described as Meghan fans - well, not me, anyway.

However, I do think that this is the last thing she needs at the moment and, quite honestly, her father and her sister are just embarrassments.

Many families have them - the Royals themselves, Kate Middleton has one - who hasn't?

However, most of us don't have it all played out in the msm.

Chewbacca Mon 17-Dec-18 20:33:15

As I said upthread Annie, I'm rather meh..., dont have an opinion one way or the other about Meghan Markle but, to be honest, if I had the family that she has, I'd "ghost" them too. I think the Americans describe such people as trailer trash? Seems apt....

Jalima1108 Mon 17-Dec-18 20:34:53

dont have an opinion one way or the other about Meghan Markle
Me neither - she is now a member of the royal family and has a job to do. I hope she does it well.
I hope that she and Harry will be very happy and have a healthy baby.

That's it, really.

Iam64 Mon 17-Dec-18 20:39:26

I don't see myself as a "fan" either. I do share the views expressed by Jalima and Chewbacca though, what a nightmare she's facing. Sadly, it's not that common but not unknown for individuals to distance themselves from destructive and negative family members. Can you imagine the fun her father and half sister could have with any form of communication extended by MM or anyone in the RF? It'd be published in the press before the ink had dried.

Sparklefizz Mon 17-Dec-18 20:39:31

~Cherrytree I certainly hope Charles doesn't pay him off to stay in the background because he would come back for more .... or Samantha would. Blackmailers always do ... even the emotional blackmailers.

Iam64 Mon 17-Dec-18 20:40:00

Exactly Sparklefizz

Jane10 Mon 17-Dec-18 20:46:05

Iam64 I think Harry should have exercised better judgement than to enter into a relationship with a previously married actress and 'celeb' with a dubious family. I'm sure there were plenty of much more suitable girls around. Yes I sound snobbish but that's what I really feel.
The Diana/Camilla business must have had an effect on the family as otherwise I'd have expected significant pressure to have been exerted to get him out of the relationship.

Anniebach Mon 17-Dec-18 20:58:59

I don’t trust Megan and Harry is a showman , a dream for the media.

Chewbacca Mon 17-Dec-18 21:11:09

What makes you say that "Harry is a showman" Annie?

merlotgran Mon 17-Dec-18 21:12:17

I agree, Annie. The press honeymoon period ended when they returned from Australia. The gloves are off now.

That's why I think an attempt at reconciliation with Meghan's father would be favourable otherwise he's media fodder and she will appear even more hard hearted.

The royals have never really had to think things through. It's their way or the highway. Harry has lobbed a grenade on all that and Meghan will just act the appropriate role at the appropriate time.

Anniebach Mon 17-Dec-18 21:37:22

* Chewbacca*, Harry loves the camera, he performs for it. William has always disliked the camera and it shows. Is it a second child thing? Margaret, Andrew. Or the fact they were both paraded for the camera from a young age.

Megan naturally likes the camera, Kate doesn’t , so both couples well suited perhaps.
