How private should a pm be?

Earlier in the week gilly mentioned that she had a nasty pm and, over the years, I have had a few passive aggressive ones too. I doubt we are the only ones.

My inclination is to 'call out' the sender on the threads - would that be wrong?

To my mind these are bullying messages and we should stand up to bullies but what does anyone else think?

Who does a pm belong to? The sender or the recipient?

Just to be clear, I've never had really nasty pms just a few passive aggressive ones. I have pm contact with a few members on a sporadic basis!

But why, oh why, did I not get a pm from Tom? grin

kitty you and I are Billy No Mates as far as Tom is concerned (or Dick, or Harry for that matter).
sad

ps be careful what you wish for

Marydoll Sun 04-Nov-18 19:53:06

I didn't receive one either from Tom! ?
I suspect he realised we are not pushovers!

Maggiemaybe Sun 04-Nov-18 20:05:32

Ah, that’s a good way to look at it, Marydoll. I was feeling neglected too. grin

I would hope PM's remain private but it does beg the question if and when the trust is broken behind the reason why PM's exist then I don't have any qualm if a vindictive, anonymous poster were outed, the PM would have to be very bad though to go that far.

Why ' aid and abet ' bad behaviour by somebody so cowardly he/she thinks it is OK to send a nasty PM?

If it comes down to ' etiquette ' then that poster broke that code surely . No doubt HQ would frown on my stance but that is the way I would feel under those circumstances.

EllanVannin Sun 04-Nov-18 20:39:42

I wouldn't dream of sending anyone a nasty pm. It's not in me to do so.

gillybob Sun 04-Nov-18 20:45:21

Nor would most people EllanVannin smile

What about pms?

petra Sun 04-Nov-18 20:56:57

gilly
Did you know it's a pagan word?

gillybob Sun 04-Nov-18 21:02:55

What is a pagan word petra ? Bloody or “her” name ?

I’m intrigued. Should I be afraid ? ?

kittylester Sun 04-Nov-18 21:05:32

I still don't know who it was - thick me!

Bellanonna Sun 04-Nov-18 21:06:34

Charleygirl I remember that! Yes, the “where” would be a dead giveaway!

petra Sun 04-Nov-18 21:06:42

gilly
Have sent you a PM.

petra Sun 04-Nov-18 21:20:53

jalima
Have you looked in your in box?
gilly I hope you've blocked her.

Charleygirl5 Sun 04-Nov-18 21:29:49

Bellanonna she obviously knew more than my ophthalmic consultant re my Macular Degeneration and whether I could drive or not.

Bellanonna Sun 04-Nov-18 21:37:39

It was really cheeky, Cg!

Charleygirl5 Sun 04-Nov-18 21:42:00

I hate to tell her I was told last week I can still drive! I am not racing around the M25, I no longer drive in dusk and dark and nowadays I drive locally for convenience, not that it was any of her business!

Madgran77 Sun 04-Nov-18 22:02:02

I have received a couple unpleasant PMs ...but then as I have also managed to inadvertently put myself in the firing line on a couple of threads recently, I expect it is par for the course!
Never heard from Tom though! I feel quite neglected!

Jalima1108 Sun 04-Nov-18 22:55:57

Yes, I have checked, thank you.
Sorry, I was watching something boring on the tv, well actually I fell asleep in front of the tv.

Marydoll Sun 04-Nov-18 23:48:47

I complained about getting no PM from Tom, now I have received a number of emails, inviting me to join dating sites.? confused

Apricity Mon 05-Nov-18 00:30:35

Marydoll, you do have to be careful what you wish for! ?

PageTurner Mon 05-Nov-18 02:25:35

Oh yeah, petra, I figured out who all of you are talking about. ?
I agree, she never has anything pleasant to say..
I won't "name and shame" though. She may just have a tough life.
However, that doesn't give her the right to be nasty. Blocking is best, I think.

BlueBelle Mon 05-Nov-18 04:52:30

Kittylester I m so curious now.
Stop drip feeding us none knowers? I’m not in the club ?
