Regarding Prince Philip, aside from him being still alive, I don't see why anyone should get a special reward for supporting their spouse, surely that should be a given, not anything out of the ordinary.
I see merit in the unknown soldier but I would rather celebrate the arts than the military. What about Gainsborough or Turner, surely that is long enough ago not to be controversial, if we don't know what they looked like we could have one of their paintings.
Or rather more recent how about Laurence Olivier or Richard Burton, Margaret Lockwood or Alfred Hitchcock.
I don't think it should be any politician as that would be too divisive, particularly one as "Marmite" as Margaret Thatcher.
