I know what you mean. I don't want to start anything I won't have time to finish or do housework or gardening where I might get hot and sweaty.

I use the waiting time looking on Gransnnet or playing solitaire.

Me too travels.....the only thing to do is to look at GN for a while.

Is it an age thing to allow too much time?
DH’s granny apparently used to be ready at least half an hour early, hat and gloves on, sitting on a chair in the hall!

I hate waiting for anything. I get furious (inside) about people being unpunctual, and I hate waiting for deliveries or anything like that. I was always impatient, but getting worse.

No, I'm always rushing around at the last minute, hot and bothered from a shower and drying my hair and realising that I can't put my jacket on or pick my bag up because I am waving my hands around trying to dry my nail varnish.

My mother used to do the hovering in the hall all ready to go out thing but as soon as she saw me pull up she'd dash back to the kitchen and sit down at the table. When I knocked on the door she'd get up and walk slowly to answer it as though she wasn't expecting me.

I didn't have the heart to tell her that the thin net curtain on the glass panel of her front door meant I could see her outline and everything she was doing.

I am often ready far too early maybe its another age thing.

I have wasted thousands of hours of my life being ready too early. I have never been late for anything, but try very hard now to cut down waiting time.

I have been so early at the airport for my flight that the earlier flight was just boarding........ I was allowing for traffic/ winter weather conditions etc. but even so, it's still only a 25 minute drive to the airport.

Airports are a different matter - I would always be early for a flight (circumstances permitting).

I am another 'Justine Time'.

I can always find several 5 - 10 minute jobs I can get done, all of them, in the few minutes before we go anywhere

Snap M0nica I have what I call 10 minute slots. If DH isn’t quite ready to go out I have a quick reccy at what I could do e.g.empty the dishwasher, fold some washing, sort some receipts, reorganise handbag etc.

If I am waiting outside to be collected by a friend I get out my IPhone and play one of the games apps I have downloaded. I never just stand there.

Another early person here. I blame a professional life run by appointment times. Mr C has also recently decided its necessary to be early. It’s fine, it’s what we do but why, oh why, are the majority of our friends late people?

Not waiting at home because I never really go anywhere now where I need collecting but the weeks I must have spent waiting at Euston station over the last 20 years since DD moved up North ?

Yes, I find it awkward to get ready for exactly the right time but hate to be late so am usually ready far too early. Mostly, I just read a book until the departure time.

My grandmother (in the 1930's) used to get my mother and my aunt dressed up to go out and, because she didn't want them to get dirty, she'd have them stand on the doorstep sometimes for a few minutes before it was time to leave.

What I hate about getting ready is my husband standing at rhe front door as soon as he is ready until I appear maybe 15 minutes later. Then I'll ask if he has checked the back door and the answer is no.
