I’ve been taking GN too seriously of late. So thought I’d lighten up a bit.

I’m sure you can all think of more to add to the list....

1. I think part of a best friend's job should be to immediately clear your computer history if you die.

2. Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.

3. I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap
when I was younger.

4. There is great need for a sarcasm font.

5. How the hell are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?

6. Was learning cursive really necessary?

7. Google Maps eally needs to start their directions on # 5.
I'm pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.

8. Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died.

9. I can't remember the last time I wasn't at least kind of tired.

10. Bad decisions make good stories.

11. You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you know that you just aren't going to do anything productive for the rest of the day.

12. Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after Blue Ray? I don't want to have to restart my collection, again.

13. I'm always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten-page technical report that I swear I did not make any changes to.

14. I keep some people's phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.

15. I think the freezer deserves a light as well.

16. I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and hunger.

17. How many times is it appropriate to say "What?" before you just nod and smile because you still didn't hear or understand a word they said?

18. I love the sense of camaraderie when an entire line of cars team up to prevent a jerk from cutting in at the front. Stay strong, brothers and sisters!

19. Sometimes I'll look down at my watch 3 consecutive times and still not know what time it is.

20 Even under ideal conditions people have trouble locating their car keys in a pocket, finding their cell phone, and Pinning the Tail on the Donkey - but I'd bet everyone can find and push the snooze button from 3 feet away, in about 1 .7 seconds, eyes closed, first time, every time.

All resonate with me but what about duvet covers. After 30 years of struggling with duvets I have finially and sensibly ( both hands arthritic) decided there was nowt wrong with sheets and blankets.... and have gone back o them. Bliss ... and finially find myself NOT overheating at night. AND am sleeping better. Whatever possessed me. Goodbye duvets!

This contribution comes via a bus driver - I was near the front in a bus that was just about to pull out of a stop, when a woman came flailing across the road, coat flapping in the breeze, clutching a giant handbag and waving her free arm for the bus to wait. And the driver leant on his steering wheel and muttered "And they never have their pass ready either". grin

This might help?!

Nanny27 - My son always had problems with worrying if he'd locked his door! In the end he had the brilliant idea of videoing himself locking the door on his phone! So when that sinking feeling hit, the 'have I locked the door properly' one, he could just refer to his phone!

17 and 19 certainly resonate. Also why, every time I go to remove a hanger, whether in my wardrobe or a shop, does that hanger get tangled up in the one next to it? Without fail?

OldMeg Fri 07-Sept-18 08:21:36

Perhaps we should ask for a dedicated thread for light-hearted and/or funny posts? Seems like we all like a ?. I think there’s already a jokey one running.

Any ideas for a title perhaps?

HannahLoisLuke Fri 07-Sept-18 08:23:12

Thank you OldMeg. My favourites are No 8,16 and 18 and thanks also Miss A for your reaction to sheet folding demos at parties. Now I want to go to that party just for the laugh ?

ginny Fri 07-Sept-18 08:24:24

Why do so many older people seem to enjoy getting into a competition over who has the most aches and pains, takes the most pills or has had the most operations ?

OldMeg Fri 07-Sept-18 08:25:43

Are you on the right thread ginny? ?

OldMeg Fri 07-Sept-18 08:27:20

Yes, I’d like to go to one of those too! I presume there’d be sufficient ? served to add to the chaos.

I saw one on FB that made me giggle ...'Remember - if you lose a sock in the dryer, it comes back as a Tupperware lid that doesn't fit any of your containers.'

Omaoma57 Fri 07-Sept-18 08:32:45

Thank you Old Meg....made me giggle so much! I can fold a fitted sheet...a rather bossy friend showed me how one very long 10 minutes and how to insert a duvet quickly...much more fun my old way!....climb in and wiggle a lot...hee hee

17. People who say 'what' when they need something repeated really annoy me as it's just plain bad manners. The word is pardon! The word 'what' needs to be part of a sentence. I work in a nursery and I am always correcting the children when they respond to me with just that word.

grove1234 Fri 07-Sept-18 08:33:53

wonderful thank you old meg
I,m bagging the toy boy .

GabriellaG Fri 07-Sept-18 08:41:31

# 18 resonates but here in the UK we tend not to do that too often.
#1 - your computer and phone history is never really deleted.
#5 - I'm a dab hand at folding fitted sheets (visit YouTube) grin

GabriellaG Fri 07-Sept-18 08:46:46

Actually, quizqueen What? really is the 'proper' word to use.
Pardon is erroneously used to mean 'I didn't hear' it's true meaning is to excuse.

craftergran Fri 07-Sept-18 08:56:17

How come the container I keep the tea bags is always empty on my turn to make tea?
How come the bin is always needing emptying when I want to put onion peelings in it?
How come no matter how careful I am when peeling and chopping garlic and getting rid of the skins one of the skins ALWAYS lands on the kitchen floor?

Nannyme Fri 07-Sept-18 09:00:17

Can anyone tell me why we become invisible when we are sat next to a table of youthful beauties in a restaurant !

loopyloo Fri 07-Sept-18 09:20:21

Thank you Gabriella! I dislike the use of pardon.

mabon1 Fri 07-Sept-18 09:23:37

Folding a fitted sheet? who cares about that? Life too short

Nandalot Fri 07-Sept-18 09:26:57

Lovely thread. Making me smile.

Bazza Fri 07-Sept-18 09:29:35

Fold a fitted sheet??! Really? Not if you have a five foot bed. Just do the best you can, I do a sort of roll, and shove it in the airing cupboard. Life is too short, can think of things I’d rather be doing.

jenni123 Fri 07-Sept-18 09:42:01

Brilliant Oldmeg, something lighthearted at last.
DanniRae I am intrigued ...#2. I don't regret telling her to burn all my diaries (especially from 2004!!) when I die. what has been going on since 2004?
ChaosIncorporated #2. Why do small children always say the most embarrassing thing at the quietest point in general conversation?
I was on a London bus, years ago when we still had conductors, I was with a friend and her 4 year old daughter and we had just come from the hospital where my friend had to go for iron injections. The bus was full and we were sitting opposite each other on the long bench seats, suddenly the child said in a very loud voice 'Mummy, why did you take your knickers off and let that man stick his thing in your bottom?' My friends face was scarlett and the whole bus went silent.. just as the child was about to repeat the question my friend found her voice and said 'That man was a doctor and that thing was an injection'. Every passenger breathed out and the conductor walked past and said 'Cor, that was a relief love'.

1) Pay a stranger a compliment.
I have complimented women on their hai, dress, behaviour of their children/ grandchildren.
Few days ago a woman stopped me to ask where I had bought my outfit and told me how elegant I looked in it.
She made my day.
2)Don't surround yourself with negative people
3) Before you go to sleep ,however bad the day has been think of one thing that has pleased you during the day.
4) If you make a mistake-learn from it.
5) Be a person whose glass is half full not half empty

Up to now I haven't wanted to start a thread but will somebody please tell me how one does so?
Thank you

Spices are generally measured by the teaspoon in recipes, but no teaspoon ever made, nor any from sets of measuring spoons, will fit into the spice jars.

For 6 consecutive days I check the avocado and it's still not ripe. On day 7 it's gone bad.

When I make the effort and do my hair and makeup, I don't see anyone I know all day. When I look like a bag lady on a bad day, I bump into every single person I have ever known.
