Couple die on holiday

And the travel company are removing guests from the hotel where this poor couple were staying

I read their daughter, who was away with them, said they were perfectly fit and healthy

Meant to add how awful for her to lose her parents one after the other.

Just awful, seriously sounds like their is something more going on, the chances of a couple both suddenly developing Heath problems and dying the same day have got to be pretty darn slim!

The daughter said they both died the same way (not sure what that means) perhaps there was an accidentally poisoning that’s all I can think of that would be so unique to two individuals and be so quick too

My Uncle died in March ,my aunt ,his wife died the next day ,they had been married nearly 60 years ,There were no suspicious circumstances .It happens .

From Sky news "^Mr Cooper's death was "a sudden stoppage of the heart muscles and respiratory failure", with his wife dying due to "a stoppage of circulation and respiratory failure^.

Strange that neither of them had heart or respiratory problems prior to their holiday but they both died of almost the same thing isn't it?

Such a sad story. I read about it a day or so ago and to be honest, took it at face value.

I thought it was a very strange coincidence though.

Unlikely to be carbon monoxide as this is usually from heaters (not in August).
More likely to be Legionnaires from the air conditioner or bathroom water.
I hope Thomas Cook are arranging for a British doctor to do the post mortem, then we may get the truth.
So sorry for the remaining family. Terrible.

Paddyann of course it can happen usually in very elderly and very very rarely When a healthy, fit couple (and in my eyes 60 s are not elderly) die within 5 hours of each other both having exactly the same symptoms do you really think that just ‘ happens’
Well if it was my Mum and Dad I wouldn’t be thinking that at all and obviously the daughter isn’t

I'm not sure the man was fit and healthy BlueBelle apparently he was on medication and had several health issues.
This does not explain both sudden deaths though, other people in the hotel were said to be unwell also.

Going by what the daughter is quoted as saying Sodapop on ITv news tonight she said both my parents were fit and well before they went on holiday, neither had any health problems
A neighbour of the couple is quoted as saying He was a good builder still working and the neighbour suggested he should start thinking about retiring and his answer was not yet Im still fine and healthy ...this was just prior to their holiday

According to newspapers ( I know, I know), the daughter was reported to have said, “ It was the air conditioning”.
A terrible tragedy for them all.

Yes I've seen an update now BlueBelle it said they were in good health. Conflicting information. It seems even stranger now given that information.

Why move the other British people out of that hotel if the couple died of natural circumstances? Very strange and I hope that the daughter keeps investigating.

The lady who died worked for Thomas Cook so although complaints about this hotel apparently go back years, the 2 deaths have finally prompted them to remove all guests from this particular hotel. There were a lot of people very ill with food poisoning, not just this year but in past seasons too.

Sudden deaths do happen together. We knew of a restaurant owner whose wife collapsed, he called an ambulance but by the time the ambulance arrived he was dead too. The inquest said she died of a heart attack and the shock caused him to die of a heart attack too, sadly they were only about 60.

Of course Harrigan occasionally very rarely, particularly very old people may die at similar times but come on if two of your family went away on holiday happy and healthy and both suddenly died of the same problem would you really think ‘well these things can happen no of course not
I would think their family are overcome with questions and grief
I don’t necessarily think anything criminal happened perhaps they both ate or drank something outside the hotel that inadvertently poisoned them Posioning could stop the heart and respiratory system It certainly doesn’t sound like food posioning (as in hotel food) as it was so instant no days of bad tummies or sickness and they ve ruled carbon monoxide out

I hope the bodies are brought home for further post motels because I just wouldn’t trust cover ups of course for tourism needs the country can’t be seen to have deaths on its hands

It sounds like the worst kind of time for the daughter; whatever is thrashed out here about why they died and how, she has still lost both parents abruptly and will probably have a very bad time trying to recover from such a trauma. Poor lady.

I'm not sure that just because someone tells their neighbour they are fit and well and because they are still working that means that they are actually fit and well.

Many self-employed people work long after they are really fit to do so, probably because they haven't made adequate pension provision and feel they can't afford to retire

Tragic. It does happen though. But postmortems definitely needed.
