We had a terrific thunderstorm last night, but very little rain. It is still rumbling around this morning, but seems to be moving away now and the skies are clearing.
Not had any here in this bit of Northants. Sun has cone out, so I went out 5 mins ago to remove the cover I had put over my outdoor tomato plants last night. Fiddly job, but worth doing if it helps keep blight at bay. Now I have just checked the Met Office ap., and apparently there's a 90% chance here of a storm RIGHT NOW. Doh!
In 20 mins we have a 50% chance of rain. We are in the sunny garden drinking coffee ready to run?♀️ I’ve just emptied the last of the water in the buts so make the most of the free water that’s about to arrive. Please!
Hot night had yellow warning for thunder so far zilch.
Forecast another hot day today with still chance of thunder, then a cooler weekend with 6mms of rain promised for Sunday. The day we have a house full of children!. Hot weather supposedly returns end of next week.
In SE Essex we had thunder around 3am - no rain though! Hot, sunny and sticky at the moment, but according to weather app our chances of rain increase through the day to 63% at 22.00. We ave a yellow warning.
We had a short sharp thunderstorm at around 9 pm last night. Nothing since, and the Tyne Valley is basking in glorious sunshine and a temperature of 23°c. There are some clouds, but it doesn't look like rain. We have a yellow warning for thunderstorms from 4 pm so we'll see.
Here in Lincs we had a thunderstorm between about 4am and 6am with some moderate rain. Everything seemed very clean and fresh first thing but now it's just hot and muggy again. More rain and thunder forecast for this evening.
In Normandy we had 2 minutes of hail yesterday evening followed by 3 minutes of rain. The thunder and lightening lasted about 30 minutes. We have just had a couple of rolls of thunder but no sign pf rain.
In NE England it is very 'close' today, a lttle rain but no more. I love thunderstorms as long as you're inside. They seem to release all the tension in the atmosphere. But they can do damage too. I once got caught out in one when there were hailstones and I had a few bruises on my head. Keep cars under shelter if possible. Cover vulnerable crops such as outdoor veggies and favourite plants. Close shutters if you have them, windows can be broken.
Pittcity I am about 30mins down A12 from you it's 32 here and so 'close'. We have come in from the garden, even GC has given up swimming!! Rain expected around 6pm, cannot see it appearing.
31 here and not a sign of rain or thunder throughout the whole heatwave. We have a yellow warning from 2pm till 2 am so presumably it will happen? I don’t want it to obscure the blood moon though as I’ve been looking forward to that .
