Well I believe it is Rufus2 91st on the 8th. We are holding an impromptu virtual party for him. All you need to do is say what you are bringing or doing and what you will wear.

Rufus has promised to be on his best behaviour ?

I will be DJing and wearing a rather fetching sparkly purple jump suit. And before you ask Rufus you can't come in your Birthday suit, this is a respectable party.

Over to you.

My new top is fantastic, I only look about 80 in It!!!
I may have to wear trainers as the poor Duchess of Kent did at "That other big party" but all the better to bop/jive/ dance the night away.
I am so excited.
One thing is worrying me though, are we virtually flying to Oz, or, is Rufus virtually flying here?
I ask because I do not like flying and it is a long flight for anyone of advanced years.
It is the rest of you I am concerned for.?

Rufus2 Fri 06-Jul-18 07:45:09

as at your grand old age, we need to be mindful of your blood pressure
Marydoll; Steady on! You're making me feel like a "grand old piano"! Right now the only resemblance are my stocky legs (I'll get in first; NO, I haven't got 4 of them!) and the only tune you will be able to play on me is, maybe, the one-note Samba. but NanKate is our DJ so she will look after me and Ann. grin
BTW; Have you been reading "You are old Father William" again recently? wink
Cheers

DanniRae Fri 06-Jul-18 08:08:07

I am so excited about this party. Can we do the Birdie Song as well as the hokey cokey? I think it shows how 'stylish' a person is if they can do these dances, don't you fellow party goers? (I get a bit confused with the hokey cokey about which leg goes in first and what to shake about but I expect someone will show me!)
Oh, I can't wait - when is it, by the way?? confused

Rufus2 Fri 06-Jul-18 08:36:16

fancy Rufus Sewell. I wonder if he is the son/grandson of our Rufus wouldn’t that be a happy coincidence?

NanKate; A virtual miracle if you ask me!
As far as I'm aware I left no offspring in Blighty, virtual or otherwise. grin
Now look! Some guests appear to be jumping the gun and opening a few bottles early judging by the way they are slurring their typing. shock

Should we order in a few, (or many), breathalysers?
And has Mr. Sewell received his invitation? I don't know where he is; any Grandads coming or have I got you all to myself? Lovely Jubbly! grin

MawBroon Fri 06-Jul-18 08:37:48

I believe the Hokey Cokey is to be renamed Brexit Negotiations DanniRae grin

Rufus2 Fri 06-Jul-18 09:12:50

I knocked you up a quick sponge do you like it?

Oopsadaisy53; Looks delicious! Not too fattening I hope, but you can't have too much virtual sponge anyway and who cares?
Does the birthday boy get one too? grin
Cheers and Good Health

GabriellaG Fri 06-Jul-18 09:42:07

What on earth is that about? Who is Rufus2?

Jane10 Fri 06-Jul-18 09:46:05

I've tried and tried to post a pic of me in my delightful post surgical TED stockings but obviously GNs settings regard such photographs as pornography and refuse to upload it. Probably for the best. I'm not sure anyone's blood pressure could have coped. Oh well. I tried.

cwasin Fri 06-Jul-18 09:57:44

Yahoo, I LOVE a party. I’m rooting out my fringed shirt, bull whip and cowgirl hat. I’m bringing Plymouth gin and plenty of mixers. Ha, mixers. NOT. Get your Cuban heeled boots on Rufus2, we’re going to parrrrtayyyyy. Whoop whoop!

newnanny Fri 06-Jul-18 09:58:35

I will bring some birthday balloons and weights to hold them down and a very large tub of ice cream in case it is still hot.

I shall wear a very thin cotton dress in greens and blues printed as it is the coolest thing I own.

Happy birthday to all July birthdays and I like your dress Eglantine.

Oopsadaisy53 Fri 06-Jul-18 10:02:33

This is one I prepp, perp, parp, made hic! earlier. It’s 4 feet tall do you think it will be big enuf?

Rosina Fri 06-Jul-18 10:12:11

Jalima1108 Fri 06-Jul-18 10:15:39

Yes please - count me in!

I am busily running up a little number from the Australian flag (I'll make one for Rufus too, if he wants to wear it - perhaps like a toga?).

Are we having an Aussie-style barbie? I could bring some tinnies - is XXXX or VB your preference Rufus? Although I must say I prefer a chilled Australian white or a shiraz myself.
Pavlova for dessert anyone?

Not God Save the Queen please - I'll be croaking singing Advance Australia Fair.

Can't wait - 91! hope you're still bopping Rufus

Jalima1108 Fri 06-Jul-18 10:17:01

NanKate, you’re dicing with death approaching Rufus Sewell. He belongs to another.....
Yes - ME!! I did claim him first

Blinko Fri 06-Jul-18 10:20:26

GabriellaG, Rufus2 is a GN member who hails from the antipodes. Apart from that info, I think the OP says it all. What's not to like? grin

Blinko Fri 06-Jul-18 10:21:44

GG PS, the Rufus Sewell stuff is just wild speculation. The rest is of course completely serious….

GrannyGravy13 Fri 06-Jul-18 10:21:52

I am another July Birthday ?????????

I have several bottles of pink fizz and shall be making a Mediterranean cous cous salad.

I shall decorate my orthopaedic boot and throw on something sparkly.

I get the impression that no one throws a party like us gransnetters ????????????????

Jalima1108 Fri 06-Jul-18 10:24:21

So many birthdays to celebrate at one big party!!
I can't wait - happy birthday to all (hic)

DanniRae Fri 06-Jul-18 10:37:00

I shall wear leather look leggings and a very sparkly top with lots of feathers - zebra skin looooooooong boots and a tiara. (I know, I know I will look very classy but then I always do!!) My daughter bought me the tiara for my birthday last week and I wore it all day (it says Happy Birthday and gave me a headache 'cos it's tight but I will suffer, again, for our GN's party). I don't know what food to bring. Will Spam sandwiches be ok?

luluaugust Fri 06-Jul-18 10:42:55

Hang on - wait for me! I have found my large D of Cornwall hat and heels I can't walk in - where is the champagne? Just off to knock up a Pavlova, hang on isn't it virtual Winter maybe a jam roly poly confused
