I just cannot muster any energy at the moment-quite happy with my phone, iPad and the tv. I’m not unwell-I’ve had usual winter bugs but they’ve all passed-and recent scans/chest X-ray have been clear.
My energy levels are shocking though, I was looking online to book our holiday and just kept thinking about the sheer hassle factor of getting there. I didn’t book anything. I don’t feel depressed, perhaps slightly low mood after losing our friend to cancer earlier this year, but certainly nothing significant. I’m not anaemic either.

The only thing I can think of is an increase in my bp meds a month ago from 5mg to 7.5mg. Would this cause such a marked effect? It’s as if the top of my head is stuffed with cotton wool.

Hope it resolves soon, I’m becoming very fed up with it now.

Brisk walk round the shops this morning, lugging the bags of shopping. This afternoon I shall be watering all my plants in the big (30x15ft) greenhouse with a can so that I check each one as I water. 50 steps per canful of water, so it soon mounts up, especially as the can is a small one--a normal size can is too heavy to cope with at waist height.

I so nearly bottled out today - it's chilly out and a visit to an elderly lady that I was going to do (walking to and fro about 1.5 miles) was cancelled so I was so tempted to sit and watch Judge Rinder haha!
However I made myself get up and walk into town to do a few errands so hopefully earned today's bragging rights! I don't think I would have resisted that temptation had we not had this thread running smile
Keep Fit tomorrow walking to and fro - we had planned to do today's errands tomorrow but did that walking today! Hope that counts!
Reading through the posts we all seem to be more aware now and supporting each other.
We are not all marathon walkers but we seem to be making an effort! Brilliant!

Well, the walking fairy seems to be out to get me today!
Went to Keep Fit (brag brag brag haha!)
Having walked just over a mile to keep fit the plan was then to walk a further mile or so to meet hubby for a snack lunch.
On arrival at the cafe we were told that the menu was limited as most of the kitchen had been dismantled for cleaning!
The staff weren't happy as the cleaning was scheduled for 6am this morning!
Result: We walked a further mile or so back to an alternative cafe, then walked home!
Think I earned the bragging rights today - where are the rest of you? grin

Reading this thread I realised I could have written it myself! However it has geared me into action and this morning I did a 12 minute walk up and down the road. Quite nice in the sun and the wind did not blow much.

kittylester Wed 02-May-18 16:06:05

I did the school run today - not far but a brisk walk in biting wind which seemed to be against me both ways. confused

Thank you to the person who mentioned blood pressure - I have just taken mine and it is low - lower than to GP told me to aim for - so I shall keep an eye on it. At least I see a possible reason.

Jane10 Wed 02-May-18 16:19:40

What's the opposite of bragging? Whatever that is, I'm doing it! Just binge watching 'The Woman in White' while eating bakewell tart(s!) and drinking tea!

kittylester Wed 02-May-18 16:39:15

Brilliant, Jane10.

Welshwife Wed 02-May-18 16:52:31

I think I will put the kettle on and get the petit berre biscuits out - no cherry bakewell here and I do love them.

Day6 Wed 02-May-18 17:00:32

Oh Jane 10, glad it's not just me. Not a good today in terms of getting out and walking. I decided to do a few household chores today but my pattern is do a small thing, sit down with tea, do another small thing then go and have a coffee/laptop. I am walking around the house but it's not been anywhere near enough in terms of exercise. It was wet until midday but the weather is lovely now. I might have a walk after dinner, with OH if he fancies it. (Unfortunately his sort of walks have to end at a pub and that's not good for my ever increasing waistline!)

I have enjoyed the breeze and sunshine in the garden this afternoon, but just looked at it as I enjoyed a cuppa! confused

When my get up and go had gone it turned out to be a thyroid problem, discovered as gp ordered a blood test for something else altogether (Menopause). Nurse taking bloods suggested thyroid check as she knows me well and could see I had put on a lot of weight. Doc agreed with nurse and hey presto, popping the thyroid tablets has solved the problem. Low thyroid can cause low mood. what a wonderful nurse she is and good on doc for listening to her.

What

Katek Wed 02-May-18 20:53:30

I’m hanging my head in shame today. Didn’t do very much apart from take DH to collect his car from garage after it’s MOT. To make matters worse I’ve just eaten a Magnum......hmm

Katek Wed 02-May-18 20:54:08

Predictive text!!! Ignore the apostrophe!

fourormore Wed 02-May-18 21:49:10

OK Katek and Jane10 - these things happen so DON'T beat yourselves up!
Today was today - tomorrow is another day!
Today has gone so leave it in history and consider tomorrow as a new start!
Did have a commitment tomorrow that would have involved a bit of walking but it has now been cancelled so there will be a huge temptation to slob!!!
Keep up the encouragement - it's soooo needed hmm

lemongrove Wed 02-May-18 23:08:41

Day6 I do the same, a couple of household chores then a sit down ( and if there is tea and a biscuit going, so much the better) before I move on to other things, phoning a friend, checking email, pottering in the garden......the whole morning can just whizz by! grin

fourormore Sun 06-May-18 21:19:43

Have we fizzled out folks? Hopefully, we can close this thread now as we are all more aware of the need to get up and go!
The weather is beautiful so no excuses!
Good luck everyone!

I have continued to do my 20 minute walk each day when the heat has gone down. Also I have been on my own made up diet of less food and snacks, I am hoping to have lost a couple of pounds by Thursday, but I expect it will be ounces not pounds ? Brag over.

I don’t know what it is like to have energy. I wish I had appreciated it when I had it.

fourormore Mon 07-May-18 17:54:31

You and me both NanKate - what did it feel like to have energy? smile
I did find a little yesterday when we were dog-sitting S+DIL's little westie dog though.
We went to the park and played his usual game of him running between the two of us. All was going well until he forgot to stop when he was running back to me!
He ran straight past and continued for several yards with me calling him back.
I was totally ignored and he ran straight into the duck pond shock
He doesn't like water and was a drowned rat. I found the energy to race to the pond as I knew there were adult swans with cygnets earlier in the week and swans can do horrendous damage. Fortunately they were at the opposite end of the pond and the dog was safe but, believe me, I found energy for a few moments then!!!
Keep up the good work - it's much easier in the sunshine isn't it but still takes determination doesn't it!

Energy, feeling fighting fit,"Full of beans".............yes that could be me at some point in my life............but certainly that was a very long time ago.

Quite honestly very many years have passed since I could remotely say I felt "in the pink" True enough with a whole series of truly all too real health issues, it is only part and parcel of the entire business, but believe me,what a treat it would surely be to wake up just on one morning after a really good sleep, without a series of interruptions (chance would be a fine thing!!!).............and feel really again "in the mood" and rearing to get going.
It did happen in my earlier years so I do know the feeling!!

Automatic pilot is a great thing, as at least on that very odd occasion when I feel remotely better than the weeks and months before ........it never fails to assist getting me up,showered and dressed............even though too often it is rather delayed!!

However I intend following the example I have set myself over these long troublesome years, yes I look very tired and lack lustre, especially those first few hours of any day,but I have long learnt to bi - pass mirrors, put on that smile, and try my hardest to find my missing mojo.
I have long realised the black bags under my eyes are here to stay, too many bouts of skin cancer ensures I cannot sit outside and pick up some much needed colour.........but hey folks............so I am tired and my mojo has long lost its way, just like so many of you have stated............however I have a lovely caring DH and lots of lovely blessings,my life is far from perfect, but hey!!! my cup runneth over in a multitude of other ways.

Instead of perpetually griping on about the attributes I no longer have........some I never had! if I am brutally honest.......... whilst I TRY counting my blessings ,do you know..........up to a point, it saves my day and brings me hope for yet another tomorrow.
Already I am living on borrowed time so each new day is extremely precious.,a God given bonus.
Fair enough I may not have the energy and that vitality I once had..... and would so love restored......BUT...
I aim to be around a long time yet.

Though sadly if any one finds my missing mojo,in other words......my "get up and go"... I would be much obliged were it returned in good full working order..... and soon !!

Jane10 Tue 08-May-18 14:42:40

Well I'm bragging at last! I'm now slumped in my recliner feeling very smug. I've been into town for my group which involved longish walks down and uphill to and from the bus stop, several flights of stairs, wrestled rugs to hoover and treat their tops and undersides in my personal vendetta against moths (grrr!), cleaned the cat litter tray and had a shower and washed my hair. I promised myself cake and the final episode of 'the woman in white' as a treat. Ahhhhh cupcake

loopyloo Tue 08-May-18 14:57:24

I am back on my low carb thing and beginning to feel better. The pounds were creeping up and up. It must stop. But having enough chicken and fruit and veg takes a bit of planning.
Not enough walking either.
My u3a friends were all talking about their fitbits.

NanKate Tue 08-May-18 16:13:56

I managed to change the entire bedding on my own yesterday and wrestling with a very large duvet is no mean feat. Applause now please.

Jane10 Tue 08-May-18 18:50:42

?

NanKate Tue 08-May-18 20:41:53

Thank you Jane10 I will take a bow now.
