I just cannot muster any energy at the moment-quite happy with my phone, iPad and the tv. I’m not unwell-I’ve had usual winter bugs but they’ve all passed-and recent scans/chest X-ray have been clear.
My energy levels are shocking though, I was looking online to book our holiday and just kept thinking about the sheer hassle factor of getting there. I didn’t book anything. I don’t feel depressed, perhaps slightly low mood after losing our friend to cancer earlier this year, but certainly nothing significant. I’m not anaemic either.

The only thing I can think of is an increase in my bp meds a month ago from 5mg to 7.5mg. Would this cause such a marked effect? It’s as if the top of my head is stuffed with cotton wool.

Hope it resolves soon, I’m becoming very fed up with it now.

I wonder if trying to make yourself get out for a walk might help to start with. OR maybe find a silly comedy to watch or listen to. Probably not helpful but if you could even step out into the garden, stroll round you might take a stroll further out. Walking andfresh air is often said to help so many situations/Circumstances.

Can I join the club please? grin
I have noticed a sort of lethargy creeping in. I am not unhappy and I have good people in my life. I too find that it's only early appointments or arrangements made with family that get me moving and give me a sense of urgency.

I have been thinking about it and for me I think mañana is to blame, now I've retired. Everything can be put off til later. I can laze my days away happily and now small things which need doing have become an effort. I feel no sense of urgency any more and even deadlines are becoming last minute, 11th hour panics.

It's a Catch 22 thing though I find. The less I do, the less I want to do, and I am aware my fitness will become an issue unless I get myself back into the world more and force myself to aim a bit higher. In the meantime, being a lady of leisure is bliss! grin

Are you sleeping OK? Eating?

Speak to GP just to check out if meds increase might be implicated.

I agree about walking. I try to make myself go out and walk/limp for half an hour each day, even when I do not feel inclined. It does help to ginger me up.

Have you had your vitamin D levels checked?
I say this because I've heard before of how low vit D can really affect levels of tiredness.

Plus, a few weeks ago I was very tired anyway after an extremely busy time - a succession of house guests - and then I came down with a really horrible bug on top. I felt so utterly washed out.
I knew I'd been forgetting to take any vitamins for ages - we do eat a good diet, but lack of sun etc., - and I sent Dh out to get me a good multivitamin and a fairly high dose vit D3.

I can honestly say that after maybe 3 weeks, I feel a lot better now, a lot less tired, even after another very busy time lately!

Funnily enough, at almost exactly the same time last year I felt very tired and run down - really awful cold followed immediately by shingles!

Given the time of year (just post winter) both times, and the fact that I hadn't been properly bothering with supplements, I can't help putting 2 and 2 together.

I put it down to my age. I've had 3 job offers but just can't be bothered to go and do them! Haha!

fourormore Sun 29-Apr-18 13:16:10

To be honest ladies I think we are all suffering from the winter blues! Look out of the window and everything is so grey and murky. No wonder we are feeling fed up!
I too am trying to lose weight for my holiday in June but can't get motivated to do a daily walk which I am sure will have good effect on me both physically and mentally?
Just a thought!
I am happy to log into this thread each day and BRAG that I have done my walk whether it be just a quick 'once around the block' or further afield.
If Katek or anyone else would also like to log their daily BRAG we may be encouraged to get out of our chairs?
Knowing that if we fail to enter our daily BRAG, it will be noted on this thread, may just be enough incentive?
What do you think girls? Any takers?

Katek Sun 29-Apr-18 13:23:00

Thanks for all the thoughts and suggestions-I’ll certainly be looking at doing all of them. I eat well (too well), sleep well (again too well!) and have no significant health issues that aren’t already being dealt with. I shall be starting with a wander round the garden, trip to GP to discuss drug (Ramipril) side effect and vitD levels. It’s nice and sunny so off to try a pre lunch stagger round the grounds!

Katek Sun 29-Apr-18 13:24:37

Oooh-that could be a good idea fourormore. Let’s see if there’s any uptake.

Luckygirl Sun 29-Apr-18 13:34:32

I'm up for that - a bit of mutual encouragement is always a good thing. I am just about to set off for a short walk - I'll check in soon!

Luckygirl Sun 29-Apr-18 14:04:02

Managed 20 minutes. Lovely birdsong; and that beautiful fresh new green on the hedges.

Definitely worth the effort.

Hope you manages your stagger round the garden Kate. Small steps.

fourormore Sun 29-Apr-18 14:17:23

Oh heck! Looks like we've started!!!
I did walk to and from Church this morning so I will count that as today's brag! grin
Beware ladies I am making a list and will tick off our names as and when we brag!
However should anyone slip we will encourage not discourage!
Beginning to regret starting this now - or am I?
I need to get off my ******* as well hmm
Well done Luckygirl and ME haha!!!
How did you get on Katek?
Any other potential braggers welcome!

Day6 Sun 29-Apr-18 14:33:27

Oh can I join you in the walking BRAG please fourormore? What a good idea.

(It won't happen today mind, as I have family things happening. I do promise to go out into the garden and get some fresh air though.)

I WILL go out for a walk on Monday. I think encouraging each other in this way will be good. I need a bit of guilt to get me going!

Katek Sun 29-Apr-18 14:41:40

15 mins done....now quite depressed because I saw close up how much weeding needs done!! Will wear dark glasses next time so I can’t see so much.

fourormore Sun 29-Apr-18 14:47:43

Welcome Day6 (your little walk into the garden all counts!) and well done Katek - we are all on the list!!!
For of us now!

Luckygirl Sun 29-Apr-18 15:16:16

Well done KateK - every little helps.

kittylester Sun 29-Apr-18 16:07:37

fourormore can I just point out that men use this site as well.

I held up the new fence while DH drilled holes and things but too I noticed how many weeds had grown during the rain. So, I had lots of fresh air but not much exercise.

chicken Sun 29-Apr-18 16:18:00

Fourormore---I've done a 45 minute walk today Brag,Brag! I shan't be doing it tomorrow as we're due to have an allday downpour. You can put me on your tick list so five now.

mcem Sun 29-Apr-18 16:19:44

Don't remember ever feeling so unmotivated. Day6 summed it up perfectly.
It's been sunny but cool here so haven't ventured far. DGD's have just been in touch and we've arranged to meet up for a wee walk and something to eat before DGD 2 goes off to work night shift in her care home!

mumofmadboys Sun 29-Apr-18 17:24:23

I dug over the veg patch today but had to force myself. I have also felt drained physically lately. Pleased I did it but it is quite small!

Hm999 Sun 29-Apr-18 17:32:21

I think this winter's bugs have been fairly evil, leaving folk drained for a long time.

As walking the dog every morning for an hour (on the flat) leaves me exhausted afterwards, I do have a bit of crochet next to the sofa which I can grab, so I am doing something not just playing on internet or watching TV.

fourormore Sun 29-Apr-18 18:01:20

Ooops! Sorry folks - Kittylester spotted my deliberate mistake - of course men are more than welcome to brag too! Are you joining us Kitty?
No one spotted my mis-spelling of four (for?) of us though, or are you being polite! grin
I think Hm999 will motivate us all if she walks the dog every morning - please don't forget to brag Hm! You will keep us all on track!

loopyloo Sun 29-Apr-18 18:19:51

Yes I feel totally becalmed here. A bit wheezy and I just want to eat all the time. Please may I join?.

br0adwater Sun 29-Apr-18 18:25:35

Try cutting out dairy products. It's a faff but well worth it.

Jane10 Sun 29-Apr-18 21:38:49

Yes. Becalmed is a good word for this feeling. I feel so lazy that even one or two tiny jobs a day feel like major achievements to me.
Am currently awaiting another knee replacement so walking is pretty painful but I know I have to keep moving. I generally manage about 20/25 minutes on about 3 days a week with other walks being round the supermarket. In the wintry weather I was making myself go up and down the 8 flights of stairs in our block of flats. Good exercise but pretty boring.
Katek- this is not like your usual busy self. Hope you feel better soon.
