Hi everyone, I don't know if anyone can help? I have two sons. The youngest is hardworking, married with a wife, house, two children, all the usual. The older one drives me to distraction. He's 40, a "bit of a lad", married once - it lasted for a year! Currently living with me in a house which I own with my partner. Luckily we have a spare bedroom.
DS is a cheerful chappie most of the time, sometimes working, sometimes not. Well loved by all his mates. Doesn't own a house, has a works van for his job (plumbing, roofing, general household maintenance). Drinks too much, although not a serious problem, smokes in the house (against house rules, although I find myself turning a blind eye, not being one for confrontation!). Currently at the time of writing, he's spent too much on his beer and found himself a week before payday with no money, and wanting to borrow money for diesel for the van. I often "lend" him money, never get it back, but if I say no, I feel so guilty. This time, I offered £20 but it's not enough so he's called in sick.
It's just generally exasperating to have a 40 year old child who doesn't seem to be growing up at all. and what happens when I'm not here any more? Not that I'm planning on going anywhere soon, but who knows? I don't suppose there's an answer tbh. I don't want to see him sleepng under the bridges ...
