and treats, even if you get them for yourself! Birthdays around Christmas often fall a bit flat (I've got one myself, as had my DF and now my DGS1), but we've to make the most of them, and spoil ourselves if nobody else has the time or cash to do it for us. As for getting older, it's a privilege, as others have said. I hope you are one of the lucky ones who get a bus pass. I would have been delighted to have that as my 60th birthday present. 
It's a shame about your Dublin trip - some posters have read it wrongly and think that you have dropped out, but I see it's one of your daughters (it's a 1 in the OP, not I) and that must have been a huge disappointment. Probably the reason you feel so down, and you must make sure it goes ahead in the New Year.
