Hello , I'm 60 next week and I'm dreading it . Have always disliked my birthday . But this one is hitting me hard . It is not just the being 60 and feeling old .
As my birthday is so close to Christmas it's mostly a disappointment for 1 reason or another .
My daughters and I were going to Dublin for the weekend but 1 pulled out then it was decided we'd do it another time . But that's The crux of my birthday , celebrating is put off as everyone busy so plans are put on hold and then never happen . Any suggestions for over coming my hang ups most grateful received . X

Have a great birthday, OP, whichever day it is! Plenty of wine and treats, even if you get them for yourself! Birthdays around Christmas often fall a bit flat (I've got one myself, as had my DF and now my DGS1), but we've to make the most of them, and spoil ourselves if nobody else has the time or cash to do it for us. As for getting older, it's a privilege, as others have said. I hope you are one of the lucky ones who get a bus pass. I would have been delighted to have that as my 60th birthday present. smile

It's a shame about your Dublin trip - some posters have read it wrongly and think that you have dropped out, but I see it's one of your daughters (it's a 1 in the OP, not I) and that must have been a huge disappointment. Probably the reason you feel so down, and you must make sure it goes ahead in the New Year.

Fingers firmly crossed for the pension debate today - go WASPIS!!!

brunswick, what a great birthday 1.1.11 is! We were hoping for 12.12.12 or 20.12.2012 for our DGS, but he arrived in between them. tchsmile
