going through my bedroom cupboards today I found a multi pack of M+S knickers, unopened. gleaming white and pristine. when I took them out of the packet and put them in my knicker drawer, I realised how grey and grotty my old knickers were. so I binned them. then I got to thinking how wonderful new underwear is. and how it's a pleasure to wear brand new underwear, putting a spring in my step and not caring if I get knocked down by a bus, cos not only is my underwear clean, it is also non saggy and beautifully white.
I just love new knickers. is it just me?

I recently bought some no VPL knickers from M & S. They have a little bit of stretch lace around the waist and are very comfortable. They make a change from the Sloggi type pants I usually wear in black or beige. I just wish M & S had more no VPLs in different colours.

Pants I think is American talk for knickers x

I wear the black lacy ones. Sometimes a thong. Is that why my wife left me?

I agree. new underwear makes you feel great. I wear M & S children's Lycra high leg, sporty, seamless pants and they come out of the wash looking and feeling new every time.

I have 30 pairs of knickers - white and nude - so that I can wash them together and they look bright and clean. I have cotton with 5% elastane, I find that full knickers help keep my tummy in instead of having it roll over the top of them! Some are old and do need chucking out. My problem is that the elastic at the top gets twisted and if I iron it straight it gets hard and irritates my skin. Any recommendations of pants with a comfortable top?

I wonder if pants is the American version? I seem to have worn pants since I was out of school and don't usually pick up on Americanisms I definitely wore knickers at school navy blue ones with elastic legs but since then I ve never referred to them as knickers I think it went to panties as Nan referred to knickers Mum panties and for me pants mainly because that's what I always see on the packets hi leg pants, briefs, boxer pants, full size pants and thongs I haven't seen the word knickers on the packets for years and years..... kecs at one period I wonder where that came from ? Funny name that

People who wear matching underwear are more likely to get murdered if films are anywhere near accurate, so all the more reason to have mis matched undies.

I buy mine in Sainsuburys now, since the terrible day my son (aged 11) tried to help me in Debenhams by shouting 'buy these they're enormous'. I just buy black everything.....back of the rack and sneak them through with lots of fruit and veg in my weekly shop, stuff I have no intention of eating of course.

Please can anyone advise me where to get full briefs/knickers/pants that actually come up to/sit in the waist? Many claim to but don't. I'm currently wearing out my BHS one's that did but am acutely aware of a pressing need to replenish my stock and BHS is no more sad

I still have knickers that are almost 20 years old!! Still in good nick, so to speak....very rarely buy white knickers because of "greying". I recently splashed out and bought some mens sylish boxer shorts, black with a colourful band (without the fly!), great for VPL issues.

Yes,coolgran - according to my 4 year old DGS, men wear pants & ladies wear knickers! I too love getting new knickers. We've just had an unexpected voucher from M&S so I shall be off there tomorrow to replenish the stocks. I like a variety of frivolous, no VPL & nude, all in the high leg style.

I love knickers, all colours. M&S are the most reliable, I find. Old ones make great dusters!

Love nice undies and always wear matching set. Have lots of different sets but end up wearing white more often than not especially in summer. Difficulty is in finding plain, non padded bras to wear under T-shirts so no lines or pattern show through.

AmMaz ... you could try Sloggies. They are well-made and last!

Rosieroe Wed 31-May-17 12:11:39

Pants is surely the American word for trousers. I Think they call knickers 'panties'. No idea what they ask for if they need knicker elastic. lol. Is it still even available? smile

I stopped buying M&S knickers once I tried Sloggi as I find they fit better, wash better and last longer.

I just wish I could find a bra I like as much.

cassandra264 Wed 31-May-17 12:28:24

Quite agree jacalpad and Rosieroe - Sloggies great.Have been a fan for years. They do 100% cotton maxi control knickers, in black, white and nude - which the manufacturers call 'poudre'. These are especially good and comfortable in warm weather. Not the cheapest - but they do last.

As well as liking to have new knickers , I also like mine nicely ironed and both my daughters take The Mick out of me for doing so! I may add that when they were in my care, I always ironed their knickers! My reasoning? It's more comfortable on your Mary!!!

MoonRAker Wed 31-May-17 13:35:16

Does everyone wear knickers/pants?

DanniRae Wed 31-May-17 13:37:46

My pants are so small Tokyo I couldn't possibly get an iron onto them - Ha! Ha!

Actually my bum is so big once they are on every crease is stretched out instantly - and I hate ironing wink

Legs55 Wed 31-May-17 13:43:59

Life's too short for ironing knickers!!! M&S for me, I've never found any that fit as well. Not tried Sloggi, too expensivegrin

Has any-one noticed that black knickers fade, not really noticable until you buy new ones. I do love matching underwear but on a daily basis I only wear knickers when at home (not going out) no brablush

I used to wear M&S high legs, cotton with lycra, really comfortable & no VPL. However a few years ago they changed the style, put seams at the sides, with the label there instead of at the back so it chafes your hip, worst of all they replaced the wide elastic at the top with a very narrow strip that rolls down, highly irritating!

I've now switched to Primark which are much more comfortable though not as well cut, but they are much thicker fabric & take a long time to dry so no good on holidays.

Does anyone know of other brands which are seamless with a wide top band? Must be cotton or cotton with lycra though! I might have a look at Sloggi's again, I wore those when I was younger.

pollyperkins Wed 31-May-17 14:38:59

I thinknpants sounds like mens underpants so i say knickers. I like coloursd m&s knickers (midi ) with white ones for light clothes in summer. Dont like flesh coloured ones. They so mini (v brief) midi ( hip high) and maxi (waist high) i think.

There is a wonderful boost fresh and new underwear gives. Lately have been going for colour, as much colour as possible as an office career filled my cupboard with too much black so underwear has to compensate with loads or colour and shiny materials. Love the little knickers 'accessories': sequins, little bows, small buttons etc ..
