I too googled this early on and was a little surprised . Thing is, the post seems genuine enough, not really very school-childish. And if it is 'one of those posts', then what a very odd theme to choose!
Then again, all these responses and the OP hasn't returned to the thread....

Perhaps the OP could return to the thread and perhaps give us more detail. How did this habit ever start? Why didn't she stop it immediately.

My DGC used to make a grab for my glasses when they were babies and in a family of spec wearers, nobody thought twice about discouraging that habit. How does this habit differ?

If she doesn't respond, we will reach the obvious conclusion about this thread.
