I saw one today and hinted but I doubt that I'll get one. There is something most satisfying about cracking an egg and scoffing the chocolate.

Yes, Thorntons or Sainsbury giant bunny ( DGS gave me some of it's ears last year, and it was very yummy) similar price to the Thorntons one but bigger!

Don't worry Yorkshiregel about Cadbury's dropping 'Easter' from Easter eggs, they seem to have dropped 'chocolate' from what they claim to be chocolate too.

I didn't cast a 'leaden pall of gloom and doom' I just defended everyone's right to call things whatever they want to against the so called Christians who thought the most important thing to their religion at this point in time was complaining in the press about the way the eggs for an egg hunt were defined. There are people on here who feel they have the right - for various very odd reasons - to tell others how they may or may not call a chocolate egg. All I have said is they don't.

The name Easter Eggs is a tradition, traditions are important. Other traditional names are disappearing. Shrove Tuesday is more widely known now as Pancake Day. It's almost impossible to find a card saying Mothering Sunday. That has changed into Mother's Day (not sure where the apostrophe should go!!). The origins of these traditions are being lost.

Yes, tradition is important. As my DD1 once put it, she's glad she lives in a place with a church, a cricket club, a WI, a scout hut. She doesn't use any of them, but it's good to know they're there . I don't think any tradition is seriously under threat in this case though.

My daughter, for your information, works a 60 plus hour week and is childfree. That doesn't stop her appreciating facilities being available for others to enjoy.

Origins of traditions shouldn't be lost if people of our generation pass them on to our grandchildren.

It is you and those who use their "Christianity" to try and enforce calling chocolate eggs Easter Eggs each and every time it is used. You are being the enforcers - no one else.

It really doesn't matter how many hours your daughter works. If the church fabric is not paid for it they will not be able to keep it and if they clergy cannot be paid for they will not be able to run the church and it will be sold off. It is those who attend the church who pay but you seem to be saying, as with the pub, cricket team and WI that your daughter expects a free ride when it comes to her 'traditions'.
