Now we are all back home after our success at the GN Olympics, it is time to turn minds to the Xmas Panto.
So, all you thespians, get your thinking caps on and suggest what we can perform.
If there is a part for a fat, grumpy old git, then I am your man.

We could do "Pussy in Boots" (other chemists are available)

"Jack and his Beanstalk"

"Mother's been Goosed"

Not sure if these are quite correct. OH yes they are ........

Falconbird Tue 27-Sept-16 20:12:01

Definitely a dancing part, maybe with the dragon, both dressed in tutus?

Wobblybits Tue 27-Sept-16 20:15:32

A cow in a tutu, that is ridiculous, how stupid, PERFECT.

Anniebach Tue 27-Sept-16 20:19:14

Roast beef?

Wobblybits Tue 27-Sept-16 20:20:47

But as a cow has 4 legs would that be a tu tu tu.

Roast beef shock, just watch where you point your dragon.

cornergran Tue 27-Sept-16 20:28:56

Hmm, mine's medium rare please grin. Mr C is Welsh and assures me Welsh dragons are friendly, especially pantomime ones smile. He also made a suggestion how any dragon fire could be extinguished, best not repeated blush. Bit worried the back end of the cow isn't involved in this. Where is gilly when I need her? Can't have the front end dancing and the back end not. Help!

Anniebach Tue 27-Sept-16 20:44:35

Hope the back end of the cow hasn't fainted , not nice to think one could end up as rump steak

Jane10 Tue 27-Sept-16 20:49:35

Can I have the ice cream sales concession? I have the outfit and the ice cream tray thingy.

boheminan Tue 27-Sept-16 20:54:23

Oi! What about the Wicked Witch of the Westhmm??? I've nurtured the wart - it's now golf ball size and sprouting grass. Skin's turning green from eating mountains of sprouts, cabbage, broccoli and lime jelly babiesenvy. Pointy hat well honed and cackle evil enough to disperse the entire contents of the hen house (Oh! and I'd love to munch on a sparkly fairy for breakfastgrin)

Wobblybits Tue 27-Sept-16 20:59:19

OMG, with all those Brussels sprouts, I hope you have the charcoal knickers.

Jane10 Tue 27-Sept-16 21:12:23

Gosh. Can you get charcoal knickers? Do they work? I'm only asking for a 'friend' of course...

cornergran Tue 27-Sept-16 21:28:03

The front end of the cow is in limbo until the back end arrives.

whitewave Tue 27-Sept-16 21:51:31

Oh! I could almost certainly persuade my dog called Duncan to play Dick Whittingtons cat. Of course there have been people on here who have been dreadfully rude to him in the past and who never appreciated all his effort in providing the lamb chops for the barbecue but he is willing to forgive and forget.

DanniRae Tue 27-Sept-16 22:12:19

Enough about blinking front and back end of cows and dogs playing cats. If I'm going to be Principal Boy I need to know my lines so I can practice and WHAT IS MY MOTIVATION - What scenes am I in?- I am taking this very seriously and I don't think I am getting enough support!!

I have had other offers to star in other Pantomimes, I am very tempted to take my doubtless talent ELSEWHERE!! if I don't get satisfaction from you lot - so there! angry

whitewave Tue 27-Sept-16 22:20:55

Whose the script writer and director?
Look - for someone who has only just entered the thespian scene it's a tad early to be so up yourself Principal boy.

Oh and by the way Duncan wishes it to be known that he will not at any time answer to the name of Donald.

whitewave Tue 27-Sept-16 22:23:05

He - Duncan the dog/cat of course is an old lag and has been acting all his life so is entitled to throw his weight around.

Crafting Tue 27-Sept-16 22:31:19

Annieb thank you I would love to be the back end of the dragon. I will have a very long tail that I can swish about (watch out wobbly grin) I think as a proper Welsh person you should be the talking (front) end and in control of the fire breathing. ?

corner apart from being the back end of the dragon, I am also the udderstudy for the back end of the cow so until gilly returns I am happy to step in (missing the cow pats that is) and help out ??

Judthepud2 Tue 27-Sept-16 22:49:26

shock boheminan how rude! If you aren't careful, I'll drop a house on your pointy hat! (Flounces off in a shower of fairy dust)

cornergran Tue 27-Sept-16 23:22:48

Phew, need the support crafting, all this balancing at the front is giving me serious back ache, or I hope it's the back and not the digestion! grin.

Anniebach Tue 27-Sept-16 23:28:56

Ooooooh, we have a diva or two .

Crafting , so pleased to share the dragon gear with a daughter of the Rondda

It seems that our thespians are getting restless.
Time for a dress rehearsal to see how things go.
I will act as stage director initially and start a new Dress Rehearsal thread. Anyone who wishes to contribute to the direction, please jump in at any time.

Please have a look at the last GN panto, it worked well and is a good format to follow

www.gransnet.com/forums/culture_arts/1190545-Cinderella-The-Gransnet-Panto?reverse=1

Please try to keep the Dress rehearsal thread free from general chat, continue that on here.

Each character should announce who they are (some GNers will play multiple characters) and speak their lines.

I will start the new thread later today, give you a chance to lean your lines. (We are going to seaside for F&C lunch, so after that)

The Panto will be called "Aladdin and his Ugly Sisters, aided and abetted by cows, dragons, and many other dodgy characters. Oh yes and a sprinkling of fairy dust"

Have fun and if you think your jokes might offend -- let's hear them.

DanniRae Wed 28-Sept-16 08:10:54

Some direction at last! Well done Wobbly for getting to grips with organising this Pantomime. I am getting into costume straight away so I can "feel" the part (exits stage left humming a suitable tune - *"I am the one and only"*)!!

Wobblybits Wed 28-Sept-16 08:19:58

The curtains will open about 4pm today.

Motivation ??? Tinkerbell will be in charge of motivation, she has a wand and knows how to use it (or is that where to put it ?)

annsixty Wed 28-Sept-16 08:52:35

Oh I can't wait to show at last that I really am a " Thespian darling"
Swanny and I are word perfect and so glamorous we are bound to steal the show so get the floral tributes ready for opening night.

millymouge Wed 28-Sept-16 08:59:26

Oooooo if its rehearsals today had better get the hair done and shave my legs. Wonder where DH put his razor!
