I realise that, on other threads, posters have expressed their views both in support of aNd against royalty.
But this just has to be beyond a joke. . .
Apparently this young woman is moving into a cottage which would cost a phenomenal amount in rent.
She has a job of sorts but just who is paying this rent?
Even if it is paid for her by her father it's still public money which could be put to much better use IMHO.

does her father get public money or an allowance from the Queen's own money?

The rent is only about £3,500 a week in market terms shock

whitewave Mon 15-Aug-16 20:54:35

Can't she buy her own place?

Pigglywiggly Mon 15-Aug-16 21:03:53

I thought she already shared a flat there with Beatrice.

Anniebach Mon 15-Aug-16 21:04:58

She has a flat in St James Palace, suppose she needs a larger property

Sndrew is given Money by the queen, the queen is given it by us , it replaced the civil list, which means on the civil list thry were named, now it's just one very large sum fir queenie to give to those who carry out royal duties !

I wonder if this is because the silly girl gave a very detailed interview very recently about her life. It included the area she lived in, the coffee shop she used and her gym.

Security experts were quick to point out she had trashed her security .

Maybe this is in response to that?

chelseababy Mon 15-Aug-16 21:41:09

Hasnt she just got engaged? Is it to do with that?

Anniebach Mon 15-Aug-16 21:42:51

She has security guards . Rumour has it she is to marry next year to her long term nightclub manager boyfriend

The queen isn't funded by the taxpayer:

When did the royals buy the Duchy? Silly me, it's the same as Charles and the Duchy of Cornwall, we don't support him the Duchy does and to be fair he had to be born to receive it.

This - we don't keep the windsors is rubbish, they receive millions from land their ancestors didn't purchase.

Jalima Mon 15-Aug-16 23:00:30

to be fair he had to be born to receive it.
well, he managed that very well with a bit of help from mum and dad grin

Just another parasite

f77ms Tue 16-Aug-16 06:07:26

FFS , she should buy her own place , the rest of us have to . One more hanger on to fund !

Anya Tue 16-Aug-16 06:22:42

Too many of them on benefits.

suzied Tue 16-Aug-16 07:01:34

I suppose her boyfriend will be moving in - will he be paying his way? He could open a nightclub in the palace - could call it " Charlie's".

trisher Tue 16-Aug-16 09:03:47

Somebody should make a reality TV show- "Royal hangers on on Benefits"- how useless and clueless members of the Royal family live lives of luxury.
Episode 1. Eugenie searches for a new home because St. James Palace just won't do.
Episode 2. Eugenie and boyfriend party at his club and find the perfect cottage for free.

Was she the one who went to Newcastle uni. ? I get them mixed up. She was quite safe there. London is full of lunatics. Best keep them all locked up in the same place.

trisher Tue 16-Aug-16 09:12:14

Yes she was in Newcastle. Not sure how safe she was, her security unit were never far away.. I refuse to have them ALL locked up here. If London is too dangerous I suggest they are passed around the country staying in different places for fixed periods. We've already had Eugenie so it's someone elses turn!

Anniebach Tue 16-Aug-16 09:42:13

Thank God most of them stay away from Wales . Hope Chsrles doesn't rent them wormwood

obieone Tue 16-Aug-16 09:51:36

I am in favour of the Royal Family, but for some reason, I too did a bit of a double-take about Eugenie.
I cant quite work out why. May be a case of out of sight, out of mind for me? If she is in a flat somewhere, fair enough, but I am not sure why moving into Kensington Palace cottage seems a step too far for me.

Anniebach Tue 16-Aug-16 09:59:28

Harry has a cottage in KP, perhaps he has fallen behind with the rent and been evicted

Welshwife Tue 16-Aug-16 10:02:28

I read an article over the weekend which said she was moving from a four bed apartment to a three bed cottage and was paying the rent herself.

Whatever the monarchy costs a Presidency costs more and you have the pantomime such as in USA every four years or whatever - it is bad enough having the Olympics, football World Cup and Rugby World Cup (plus more) - every four years and General Elections without adding regular Presidential elections into the mix grin.

cavaliermum Tue 16-Aug-16 10:08:03

Think everyone has forgotten the millions of pounds the Royal Family bring in every year
from tourism etc
Would be interesting to here what the negative commenters would like as an alternative ?

Anniebach Tue 16-Aug-16 10:14:03

Does America provide housing for all the relatives of the president? We provide housing for the queens children, grandchildren, cousins . Do people flock here to catch a glimpse of Andrew and his daughters?

trisher Tue 16-Aug-16 10:33:10

Having seen the outfits they wear at weddings maybe they do flock to see them. I don't understand why all these people need to be given houses in the best part of London. Granny's got a whole palace, they should move in with her like all the other families trying to house their children. They can become full time carers when Queenie begins to need care!
