I realise that, on other threads, posters have expressed their views both in support of aNd against royalty.
But this just has to be beyond a joke. . .
Apparently this young woman is moving into a cottage which would cost a phenomenal amount in rent.
She has a job of sorts but just who is paying this rent?
Even if it is paid for her by her father it's still public money which could be put to much better use IMHO.

Hear hear lemon drizzle.
And something-not sure what!-needs to be done about these potty awards-OBE/CBE-we, mercifully, haven't had an empire for yonks.
Perhaps some sort of citizens award?

I don't believe the royals bring in the tourists. I think that's just a convenient myth to justify their existence. If all the palaces were empty the tourists would still flock here, Britain has much more to offer tourists than what the unelected Windsors can offer. Maybe tourism would increase if they were gone, it didn't do France any harm, the number one tourist spot in the world.

Doubt we would notice, they get little press coverage with the exception of queenie and Phillip being so active at their ages

trisher Fri 19-Aug-16 11:09:30

Maybe we could have votes-only first 2 are Royal this year and the rest are sent out to work/live on benefits/find social housing?

gillybob Fri 19-Aug-16 10:16:01

As s matter of interest auntybee what would you consider a "worthy Royal" hmm

Anniebach Fri 19-Aug-16 10:11:58

But worthy of what? This is the problem I have with the windsors

auntybee Fri 19-Aug-16 10:05:13

I'm with you but I wouldn't watch - I'd get too angry! Let's just concentrate on more 'worthy' young royals.

Anne is patron of Scotland Rugby team

merlotgran Wed 17-Aug-16 22:42:11

Peter Phillips is/was a keen rugby player.

gillybob Wed 17-Aug-16 22:38:18

Maybe she just enjoys rugby anno after all her son in law is a famous player.

annodomini Wed 17-Aug-16 19:21:59

I don't think Princess Anne has a Scottish title, but she never fails to turn up to support the Scottish Rugby team at international matches. And she re-married under the auspices of the Scottish Kirk which Charles and Camilla could have done but didn't.

Wheniwasyourage Wed 17-Aug-16 18:23:29

What annoys me is when Prince Charles turns up in a kilt when he's in Scotland at some event where nobody would normally wear one, and the papers say things like "Prince Charles, or the Duke of Rothesay as he is known in Scotland..." No he isn't. He is known as Prince Charles or the Prince of Wales in Scotland as he is elsewhere, and I've never heard anyone refer to him by any of his other titles. Prince William has an "as he is known in Scotland" title too, but I can't remember what it is. As he supports England teams (as he is entitled to do) he may not remember what his "Scottish" title is either grin

Jane10 Wed 17-Aug-16 17:28:40

Just post it off to Buckingham Palace!

Anniebach Wed 17-Aug-16 17:08:50

So true Ana

Anniebach Wed 17-Aug-16 17:08:10

Was it Jane? I am so sorry, I can't help it, when I see greed and poverty side by side I kick off .

I will give you your pound back plus 50p interest, where would you like it to go?

gillybob Wed 17-Aug-16 16:54:10

It is just too hard to resist Ana grin

Ana Wed 17-Aug-16 16:51:12

As long as people keep starting threads about some aspect of the Royal Family, Annie will be there like a shot! grin

Jane10 Wed 17-Aug-16 16:44:21

It wasn't a gift. It was on condition that you'd stop going on about the Royal family as you well know angry

Anniebach Wed 17-Aug-16 16:18:54

Jane, sorry you can't have the pound back, it was a gift

Jane10 Wed 17-Aug-16 16:13:24

How do I get my pound back Anniebach? You lot are so bitter you just can't help yourselves!

Anniebach Wed 17-Aug-16 15:40:28

Are the Nannies employed just to yell baby is crying so granny can race to the nursery

gillybob Wed 17-Aug-16 15:30:48

I don't need much convincing Jane10, considering she probably didn't look after her own much, I can't imagine she would have looked after her grandchildren.

Royal knocking is the only sport I participate in.

Jane10 Wed 17-Aug-16 15:26:56

We will never know but you lot on this thread seem to enjoy finding fault with the Royal family so I'm sure you'll convince yourselves that she's never babysat.

Anniebach Wed 17-Aug-16 15:12:20

Has the fellow Gran a granddaughter waiting for exams results tomorrow? Suppose results are not inportant anyway, one just rings Oxbridge

gillybob Wed 17-Aug-16 15:05:01

Wonder if "one" has ever babysat Jane10?

I somehow doubt it.
